cagoldi the religious piece about your mom has always been an enigma to me. With the rest of her personality I picture more of a free-spirited crystals and meditating spirit ala Frankie from Grace and Frankie.

I so want to go to the march next weekend, but my sil and family are coming for a visit and I don't want to take the kids, and feel bad going off and doing this while they are visiting for like 36 hours. A lot of the students interviewed from the capitol yesterday were from high schools we are looking at, which gave us hope that they are good schools.
Oh j was playing with a baseball bat yesterday and randomly said it was a shooter and pointed it at his stuffed dog and I said oh please don't do that, and he pretended to shoot him and then burst into tears realizing he pretend hurt his dog. He was a wreck over it. Blerg, I'm not good with how to handle these things, but def not taking him to a gun March with all the signs.

I'm so proud of all the students standing up and protesting. And continuing disgusted with the opposition and their disgusting behavior. It's so gross. Did you guys hear this gem from our oh so intelligent leader the other day: "Space is a war-fighting domain, just like the land, air, and sea. We may even have a space force. Develop another one, Space Force. We have the Air Force. We'll have the Space Force." I shit you not. He practically writes the headlines for the Onion and SNL skits himself. Such.a.moron. So see you on the flip side guys. I'm going to switch branches to the Space Force and be stationed on Mars.

I will keep that in mind yummeecookee! I think MH likes more central Florida... I would ljke to live closer to the beach. Living near Disney would be super cool too though. We’ll see. The lots that I saw the builder about are in the wrong school district 😭 I love the location- it’s just on the VERY edge of the school line. At this point I wanna day F it and move to FL. We can get such a nice house down there in our price range.... up here.... not so much. I do have some family scattered all over Florida so that is kind of nice. AND they are family who would looove to help me with my kids (my aunts- my moms sisters and she could not be more different than them- unfortunately for me)

flamingo have you made friends with the Dillard’s associates in your new town like in FL? Lol. Sigh. It’s not the same 😞 So there are two Dillard’s here that I frequent. The ladies at one are kinda terrible...just not friendly. But that is the better mall. There’s one really nice lady at the other store (where we went today) but that mall isn’t my favorite bc it doesn’t have all the stores I like. This might be the first-liest of FWPs. ETA: FFThC - I will probably go to Dillard’s when I’m home for Easter just to see my friend/aka the manager of the children’s dept.

cagoldi the religious piece about your mom has always been an enigma to me. With the rest of her personality I picture more of a free-spirited crystals and meditating spirit ala Frankie from Grace and Frankie. It's weird! She's a total crunchy hippie and generally open-minded. I mean, she went vegan at 57! She's very much "my kids teach me new things every day," so she doesn't trend very traditional with much. She was raised by her grandparents (very long story, but basically she was abused by her mom and she and her sisters were in an orphanage). Her grandpa was a Nazarene minister and I think something about church/religion is still very comforting to her. It's fine, I can't relate but I understand it. What I can't understand is when it goes weird places like "magic is evil" and stuff. So strange.

I can’t even imagine trying to get my kids to try on clothes at a store. Just getting them dressed in the morning is a challenge. It is very rare. I think this is maybe the third or fourth time I’ve done it, ever, and probably only the first by myself. In FL I’d drag my mom along for reinforcements! He did really well, though, and C was happy to stay in her stroller and eat the 63677347 snacks I brought.

I love these kids. They're awesome people. The irony will not be lost that the ones calling them snowflakes and mock them for needing a safe space cannot handle anyone with opposing views becoming politically active. So much projection happening with those people, it would be funny if they weren't so hateful. So many of these survivors will be voting this year. And damn near all of them by 2020. That gives me hope. Not very wise on the part of the dinosaurs. Like do you think criticizing these kids is going to make them more or less likely to support the conservative agenda going forward? They're a huge voting block and they already trend more liberal than previous generations. They are not likely to start veering to the right as they get older based on what they're experiencing now.

yummeecookee did you see the new arrivals on Tarte today? I live the mermaid collection. They're sending out a free mermaid crown with every $50 order. I have no idea what it looks like but I kind of think I need it. For Poppy, of course.

I better go back to work early, I have landed myself on 3 PTO committees and I'm chairing one of them. I'm a zero drama lady and the president who asked me to be on one of the committees was like "you would have to work with N, do you get along with her?" I get along with everyone so it was a weird question to me.

Re: childcare, my parents were a huge help and I miss them every day.
My cousin’s wife is the youngest of several girls and when her kids were born, her mother basically told her, Sorry, but I raised my kids, I’ve helped your sisters with their kids, but I’m just done. They live out-of-state so it’s not like my cousin-in-law was expecting daily babysitting, but her mom won’t even watch the kids for an hour when she visits so they can go to dinner or she can run an errand. 😳

My parents being close had been a huge help but I’ve had to realize what they can really help with. It seems they have about s two hour max for hanging with Callan before they get short on patience. We finally got a local babysitter because I felt like jewels always watching the clock and as soon as we would get home my dad would practically run for the door. But they are great with things like me recovering from surgery and my mom bringing over food so it’s worth it. I think we all just want our parents/in laws to be like tgrimes MIL. That’s really the ideal!

And dad wonders why our relationship was never great..

He's the poster child for anyone who's wondering what is worse than a bigot--a senile rich and pampered bigot! Have any of you seen the Funny of Die spliced clips of the movie Get Out with the Trumps? It's hysterical. Must watch.

We are the same with clothes. I noticed E grew almost 2in and is now probably a size 6 length but he's still a 3t waste. I am looking forward to warmer weather when sleeves and pant legs aren't too short. I'm sure he will be wearing last summers 3t/4t shorts that we currently wear as pjs Eta I want to take him shopping and try on slim pants. You other ladies might consider husky if length isn't an issue.

I get so annoyed with inconsistent clothes and shoe sizes. Cass is between a 6 and 7. Some 7s are huge and some are just right with a little room to grow. I usually err on the side of being too big. She wears anywhere from an 11-12.5 in shoes because sizes are so inconsistent. I think both of the girls would be obsessed with me taking them to try on clothes. They'd never want to stop and just keep grabbing items from the racks.

My parents are great with the boys and never mind watching them. But my mom always want a time when we'll be home or will be texting me because she's always tired from work. My dad is a night owl so I never have to worry when he watches them. My FIL has actually watched the kids more than my MIL. She just works a lot. But they both adore them and are so good with them. My MIL gets down and lets them ride on her back and she's a "triceratops" FIL lets them sit on the pool table and roll balls back and forth and he's bought pedal tractors for them for their house. I need to learn to let go some and let them do more with them.

My ILs are generally pretty helpful but have never once asked for the girls (or even H) to come over to spend the night. If we ask them they are usually happy to do it. My mom is nuts so she’s off the table (and luckily she moved away so I don’t have to fight that battle anyway). My dad and step mom live in AZ for the winter but will be back in May. I’ve already lined them up to watch the girls while we’re at a wedding in mid-may. I’m sure they’d have them over more if they didn’t live in their camper. Although, H is dying to sleep in a camper so I will be happy to let her stay with them for a night or two this summer.

No parental help here, obviously. No siblings for me and MH's are in North Carolina I'm excited to move to Connecticut because it is so much closer to the school that MH and I taught at. There are definitely a handful of girls who have since graduated, but come home for the summers that I would be happy to reach out to to see if they wanted to watch the kids We might actually be able to go on a date once every couple of weeks.
