How come? Do you want a VBAC? I wanted to try a VBAC. I was given the stipulation at my first appointment that if I had another large baby that it wouldn't be an option due to a much higher chance of uterine rupture. They also won't induce me for similar reasons. The baby was measuring a week ahead at my last sonogram which would make her a bigger baby. If I go into labor before that date, they will still let me attempt. Gotcha. Well maybe you’ll still get your VBAC

Bare with me while I vent.
I’ve been starting my short term disability claim so I have most of the process done before i actually go out on leave. It was a cluster yesterday between calling multiple people at the insurance company and no one giving me a clear answer on something.
Finally HR benefits person cleared it up for me today. But then i also found out my company makes anyone taking short term leave to take 5 days of their PTO before the leave starts. Wtf! How is that reasonable to take 5 days of my vacation time. I’m so pissed. And i let HR know how jacked up that policy is especially as a working mother when I count on those days I will inevitably have to use for a sick baby once they are in daycare and I’m back at work.
I hate to complain bc at the end of the day I get a great maternity leave but I still maybe would’ve not taken 3 days of PTO earlier this year had I known about this.

I have the shortest elimination period for short term disability, but its 8 days. So I have to use a week of vacation time before my STD kicks in. I have to check if that means I get the week I take my vacation time with, then the 6 weeks covered by STD for 7 weeks total.

We're not planning anything special this weekend. DS is doing a lock in for a church group he's involved in
For Easter we're going to drive up to my parents for a long weekend since the kids are on Spring Break the week before and have Mon off too

I have a 2 week waiting period before mine, so 10 days of sick. It was actually like that at the last place I worked, too. I thought it was standard. Nice thing about the company I work for now, is I get those 10 days back when I come back from leave.

Is anyone planning on writing or updating a will before baby comes? I'm thinking I should write one up just in case. You never do know...

My company when I was on ML with DD was a 5 day waiting period. Maybe I could have used vacation time to get paid those days? If so that was never made clear to me. So it was unpaid and then my short term disability kicked in.

Well.... we're on #3 and still no written will, although our wishes are extremely well known. We talk about getting our shit together and getting it written and whatnot, courtesy of my now licensed family law cousin, but something always comes up or we forget, because super grown up.

We've talked about this too. As well as upgrading our life insurance policies in case something happens to both of us to ensure that the kids are set up for quite a while. Talked about it and not done anything.

I have to use all of my PTO before STD kicks in. Any time I need off once I return to work is unpaid.

So I was shocked. And I asked if i get the time back and they said no.

The worst part is that my PTO is included inside the 6-8 weeks of STD. So it's really only 2-4 weeks of STD, and I have to pay work my benefits. So I essentially break even or pay them to take leave.

I'll hopefully take 3 months of leave, but most of it is going to be FMLA. I'll have maybe 4 weeks paid before I have to pay them for benefits.

Anyone else having awful back pain and possibly anything that gives relief? I've been walking around hunched over for the last couple of days. It sucks.

How long do you get for STD? 8 weeks STD (for c section otherwise it’s 6) then 8 weeks paid parental leave. So I’ll end up with 16 weeks paid leave. So I know I shouldn’t complain. I was just taken aback.

Sent DH out for a pregnancy craving. Ice-cream sundae w hot fudge. I hope it’s as good as I’m imagining it will be. It’s my first “real” craving this pregnancy because my reflux makes me not want anything. But finally on some better meds and a digestive enzyme that seem to be working. Still have some reflux but it’s only been a few days on the meds.

Considering that I just went to the freezer to get my ice cream only to discover that my husband has finished it, I may demand he bring me home the same.

I kind of really dislike all of you with ice cream places close enough & open to get ice cream sundaes. My options would be BK or McDonalds at this point, or to wait an hour round trip.
ETA: McDonalds would also be about a half hour, in the grand scheme of things. #SmallTownWinterProblems

BK is less than a mile down the road, anything else is 10+ away, with McDonalds being closest at about 10 miles.

The local dairy farm that my kids are obsessed with just opened a new store semi local, like 8 miles away. And they have amazing milkshakes & sundaes that I *almost* had H stop at on his way home for, but they close at 7 and I didn't want to have to share with the kids.
I do have a little hot fudge and most of a jar caramel sauce in the fridge + vanilla ice cream, so I may just make my own once I get kids down in about a half hour.

I have 7 calendar days of waiting period before STD in CA, not covered, so I can use my vacation or sick days to still get paid. This is written on the CA benefits website which makes me think it comes from the state, not a company.
