Yay, @wine! What are you going to eat first? Omelette, potatoes and a granola bar! A pretty perfect choice. I'm always down for breakfast. So satisfying

guster having moved a zillion times in recent years, I agree that 2 days seems excessive if they're not packing everything, too. My aunt did a cross-town move last year from a 3500sf house (with 3 kids and all the accompanying stuff) and it was done in one full day. wineallthetime Hope you can eat soon!! Glad the contractions have eased up. Just hang out and let mama relax, little wine-baby. joelies Glad the power was restored and your ILs are doing well with the kids! At least today they get a nice break while the boys are at DC. Safe travels wedding and lfig ! Also, I will stand up for tulips, I love them. Fresh Market sells them this time of year and I try to keep some in the kitchen. They're my favorite flower. A buys them for me all the time during this time of year.

peachsmama Indy has a really great zoo! There is a splash pad FYI so bring trunks! Good to know. I remembered to bring extra clothes inside the museum. I knew there would be a water play space lol.

Spent an hour on the phone with Mircosoft getting my office set up. It didn't want to install since I had it on the computer that crashed. But the tech was super nice and helpful.

flamingo WTF to the school thinking that was okay. There's no way in hell I'd let one of my kids in a car with no other kids and 2 strangers.

flamingo I'm still shocked the school would take on the liability of any kid being in any other parent's car.

Morning ladies! we had a busy weekend so I wasn’t around here much. I think I might be that mom, but n woke up with a red eye and i sent her to daycare since it cleared up quite a bit by the time we left. I did put some prescription drops in, but it didn’t seem to be bothering her.
We had some friends over Friday night and may have drunkenly decided to crash their trip to Sonoma in April. They are going for her birthday and now it looks like we are too! They are going to change their Airbnb from a one bedroom to 2, so we just need to book a flight and we’re set!

So I got a response from the director; basically she apologized/understood/appreciated my concerns, gave me some reasons why today was a bit screwy (nothing explaining why my kid was going to be put alone into a car with 2 strangers), and that there will be no more field trips b/c as of this spring the Dept. of Social Services is now requiring all chaperones for school-sponsored field trips to be fingerprinted, and it's cost-and logistically-prohibitive for a faith-based institution to do that, etc.
Apparently I wasn't the only parent to complain this morning, so not sure what the other issues were, but all the parents just got an email essentially saying the same as above, so now all field-trips will be in-house. To which I say, A to the men.

flamingo I'm still shocked the school would take on the liability of any kid being in any other parent's car. This. We have one field trip scheduled at the end of this school year and at orientation the teachers made it clear that the child must be brought and accompanied by their own parent(s). I would have raised hell also, flamingo . Not cool at all. eta: Just saw the update. I'm curious to the other parent's complaints as well.

Weird as hell, flamingo. I can't imagine anyone would feel comfortable with that and am surprised they arranged it that way.

Geez flamingo amateur hour over there, yeah...finger prints and background checks seem like a no brainer if sending children in their care. I'd be angry too.

Glad that won't be an issue moving forward, flamingo. The boys' school rents a school bus, so even otherwise "free" trips cost $5 per kid, but that's fine by me. Plus the kids love it, they feel so grown up.

Does anyone else have trouble getting your n’13 (or older kids at this age) to focus on learning type stuff? I’m STILL trying to get Gunner to write his name on his own (without dotted lines) He has zero interest and it’s like pulling teeth when we practice. My daughter was/is sooo much easier to work with. I would love any tips or suggestions of learning tools to work with him.

Omg flamingo. I can’t believe they even thought that was an option. O would never be comfortable driving with strange men, and of course neither would i. wineallthetime How long can the baby stay an inside baby with your water already broken? I always thought once your water breaks the baby has to come out within 24hours. Obviously i was wrong. Also, were you at home when it happened? Hoping today is a good day for you.

Plus the kids love it, they feel so grown up. This was my thought, as well. Or even a couple big 15 passenger vans or something. It's a small preschool...today only the 3's went, so there were max 20 kids (2 classes of 8-10). I'd happily pay a few bucks for that. We already pay a pretty generous tuition--it's definitely more than most area preschools--so maybe they're afraid to ask for more $, idk. lahdeedah Yeah, I'm curious as to what the other issues were, too. I know a couple parents backed out of chaperoning at the last minute so I get how that threw the number of drivers, etc. but that doesn't explain why my kid was going to be solo with no other kids. I overheard a couple moms from another class as we were going in at pick-up; they had seen the email and were bemoaning the new policy about no field trips. I wanted to be like, "Well, if your kid had been in my kid's situation this morning, you might not feel that way," but I bit my tongue. Only 3 more months and this won't be my problem anymore.
