Also the more I see of the house, the more I love it! +1 and I don't think I would cover those top windows. I love the shape and look of them. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing in our room to be woken up by natural light. Maybe I don't need anything at all, except for the lower windows. So if I were to put something on the lower windows (cellular shades, Roman shades, etc), would I still do window treatments? Got it, just read @flamingos follow up. I think now i would do Roman shades on the bottom two and then nothing else.

We have a samsung washed and dryer, front loader. I’ve never had any issue with smell, but I do leave the door of the washer open when it’s done washing for a while. I haven’t had any problems with them really at all, they get the job done. The thermostat went out on the dryer after 4 years but that was an easy fix.

I didn't take any of the kitchen. Unfortunately, it's the room I think I'll be in the most and, unfortunately, needs the most updating. MH might have one. I'll have him text me when he calls in an hour.

I just sent you a bunch of other little snaps -- some from yesterday and some from Zillow.

guster - We have those push up, pull down blinds on our second floor, which are great for privacy and have no strings. They're paper and unfortunately, they do nothing to keep the light out. You may be better off picking up a few blackout panels from Walmart (or Amazon) for the kids' rooms while you wait for something permanent.

So, I'm sending you a PM to ask you about something location wise.

For nap time for S when we are there I have to get creative and hang a blanket from the top bunk in the spare room to darken it for her to fall asleep. I would love if she would get room darkening curtains but...not my house. They also had the paper blinds for a while after they built. Those did not really keep much light out.

guster we have been in our house and still haven’t gotten around to window treatments yet. We have the black paper blinds in our bedroom and it is like a cave in there. They work reallly well and were like $6 each I’m reluctant to change them out lol

guster we have a Samsung front loaded washer and dryer and I love them. Like trtlcrzy I do leave the washer door open and haven’t had an issue with smell! And I can do huge loads which I love!

guster Random, but I think I still have 6 cheapy blackout panels packed away that I bought during our early days in the house. They are a light beige color on the outside, but only 63" so I'm not sure if you could use them or not. If so, I'm happy to dig them up and mail them to you. They are practically new!

Also, our house came with an old ass washer and dryer set and we replaced them with another old ass set when they went out, because I have not been given clearance to remodel our laundry room yet (it is worse than the bathroom was, if you can imagine).
Not sure what your layout is, but one feature I like about front loaders is the ability to put a counter on top for folding. Something to consider.

We have a paper blackout shade in Z’s room. They sell them at Home Depot. You cut it to fit the window. We also have white ones in our kitchen window because mh still hasn’t finished his part of the reno.
We just bought an LG top loading no agitator washer and dryer and i love it.

I'm bumping this because I have a question about a few of the big walls in our house. The first is the family room. Nothing else on the other walls as they're busy with windows or fireplaces or built-ins, but I'm trying to decide if I should put something above this door. One picture is from inside of the room, and the other is from the upstairs landing: This space is in the living room (which is going to be a second family room while the kids are small) The cut out on the left is from the upstairs hallway. And the room you can see is the dining room (now a playroom). And finally, this giant window (which definitely needs cleaning) is on the landing. Do I do any kind of window treatment here? The light fixtures will be replaced, and the ceiling fans will go, but I'm not in rush to do any of this. ETA: i'm super minimalist so I'm leaning to nothing on/in all of the spaces, but I don't know if that looks too bare and then makes the house look unfinished.

I don't think I would do anything with those spaces. That's just me though, I am an extreme minimalist.

guster I wouldn't put anything about the door. IMO the door, windows, view and angle of the wall above the door is enough. Same goes with the big wall with the hallway cut out, it's so high, I'm not sure what would look good. Also, I LOVE the stair landing windows, I would leave them as well. I have been in house where there are window treatments and it really blocks off the space. They are gorgeous with the natural light and angle of them. I would put something in the left corner on the floor, like a large real plant or large flower pot with branches in it. You could probably find a cool vase a second hand store. or or

Above the door you could put some sort of skinny rectangular artwork or lettered sign. Like this: On the high wall I’d either do some abstract art or a cool metal piece like this:

Also, nothing on the windows. I like the light and it appears you don’t need anything for privacy reasons.

Thank you, everyone. I tend not to over decorate bc I prefer sparse clean lines, but I didn't know if I should be making these areas look more inviting because it's such large empty space.
