So I went and investigated...they were taking everything out of the freezer and carrying it into their room. H said it was because she needed real food in her kitchen. Ha ha ha!

Happy 29th birthday, xolastunicornxo!!! I hope your day is turning around, and fast, wedding. Great news that you can work with another agent, guster!! And yes, my excitement for you is partially selfish, as well.

B wet the bed last night and woke up screaming “mommy! Mommy!”, from her bed, at 2am. I had a talk w her this AM that if she needs help, she needs to come into our room and ask- not shout from her room, which wakes up C. I did not like dealing w 2 whining kids at 2am 😑

Did I tell y'all that M started saying Jesus Christ and uses it in context? We don't say that in our house so it definitely surprised me. After asking her several times where she heard that, she told me that her teacher says that at school when someone goes to time out. Oh.
So I had an awkward conversation with her this morning....lol.
Good times.

5 am is way too early to start parenting for the day. How did it go at the school info session last night, joelies ? It was fine but odd at the same time? It was touted as a kindergarten information meeting but really it was presented as a registration event. And we haven't come to a final decision and they didn't even touch on the topic that some people may not have made up their minds. We handed in the initial form but spoke with them and marked it "no final decision" then made our screening appointment for next month. Our town has only recently switched to full day kindergarten and they are very thoughtful and conscious about what a huge adjustment it is for the kids. I liked the way they plan the day and that they build in extra time to work with smaller groups of kids specifically on their perceived "weaknesses". They do 1/2 hour sessions at the beginning and end of the day; starting in 1st grade, it's an uninterrupted hour. Snacks, recess, lunch, and play-based/story-based learning are a big part of their day, as are extras like gym, music, library, etc. The kids are kept somewhat isolated from the older classes - they have their own turn in the cafeteria for lunch, they have water fountains and bathrooms in their coatroom - through 2nd grade, which I hadn't thought about but appreciated. One exception is a program where they give the kindergarteners a 5th grade buddy and they do projects together that are supposed to help with emotional development, which sounds potentially cool. And my town just got rated #1 in the state for security, which was really good to hear right now. They also gave a list of things the kids should be able to complete before day 1, including writing their first name with only the first letter capitalized, identifying all their letters and numbers, counting 20 objects (i.e., true counting vs. repeating numbers), and identifying simple letter sounds (like "table begins with t"). Colin's pre-k class does all that plus skip counting, learning some sight words, etc., so none of that is a concern. Right now I need DH to meet with Colin's teacher, because as I've gotten more and more comfortable with the idea of him going this fall the more I see him interacting with his friends (birthday parties, field trips, etc.) plus the talks I've had with his teacher, DH hasn't had any of that exposure and he seems less and less comfortable. He seems to want to kick the can down the road or to go to his Mom for advice (she's a teacher but she also only sees Colin once or twice a month, at home, playing with his little brother) or somehow figure it out on our own. I think he needs to hear Colin's teacher perspective and he agrees, but we'll see if he does anything about it.

I told her I was surprised to hear her say that seeing how she's heard shit & fuck come out of my mouth a lot. She was so embarrassed and just kept apologizing. She said she's caught herself saying that when she gets really frustrated. Like, I get it. But she hears enough curse words at home, i don't need you teaching her any new ones.

Happy Friday!! Why are short weeks always so looooong? At least I got my bonus today, woohoo!!
Colin was dry for the 4th night in a row. I think he's been wet twice in the last couple of weeks. He's not pushing to go back to underwear so neither are we, but he's certainly back on track. And Chase, knock on ALL the wood, has had 8 good nights in a row. We haven't had a string like that in ages. Ever? Haha, I don't know but it feels nice to be somewhat well-rested.
I have a bad feeling that I've just guaranteed myself a terrible, terrible night. LOL.

Speaking of things coming out of the kids' mouths, Colin is using "like, literally" constantly, usually out-of-context, and it's hysterical.

I wouldn't consider Jesus Christ a 'curse' word, just something that maybe isn't socially acceptable. I wouldn't bat an eye if a 4 year old said it, but we aren't very proper in our house. Like @trimes, Evie hears fuck and goddamnit more than any other words (thanks H). But walking through Target, I'm sure someone would give me the stink eye if they heard E say it.

joelies I'm impressed C can write his name with only the first letter capitalized. Evie writes hers in all caps, she doesn't show much of a sign in wanting to use lower case letters yet.

Is that really considered a curse word? It's using the lord's name in vain, so if you're religious, yes. Keep in mind M goes to a Baptist Day School, so they shouldn't be saying it for that reason alone. I don't say it just like I don't say GD. I was brought up that it was a curse word, so I guess it just depends on the person on whether you classify it as such.

TGIF!
We are headed down to the beach today. Our radiologist's wedding is this weekend...only we found out last night that he called the wedding off. ??? We all have non refundable rooms/condos, so we are all still going and just making it a hang out at the beach weekend. I'm so grateful the weather is supposed to be great this weekend, but it would suck if it wasn't and we had no wedding to go to. Also glad we all get along here at work, so it should be fun.
