I can order my breast pump through insurance now, but mine doesn't offer Medela anymore. My two choices are the Ameda Purely Yours or Hygeia Enjoye. Does anyone have any experience with either one?

I have an Ameda. It worked fine but was slightly a pain to clean since the flange was all one part and doesn’t come apart like the Medela. I’m hoping with my new insurance I can upgrade the pump I have (will donanyways since it’s 4 years old)-I’ve got to look into that.

no experience, but nice that you get a choice! my insurance basically said I get no choice and they'll send what they want.

Oh snap. I need to see what/if mine covers. Thanks for the reminder.
I had the Ameda Purely Yours and liked it better than the MiPump I had before. I didn't pump for very long after starting it though.

I don't have experience with those as I used the Medela PISA last time. However, I looked at Lucie's List and the Hygeia makes their list of good pumps. If you want to read more about it, I'd check out Lucie's List.

Not ajm but I had this last time and liked it fine, as much as one can like a pump. I thought it was easy enough to manage and maintain and did a decent job for me. (Note that I’m a SAHM so I didn’t use it as much as a working mom might.) This time around it seems like a lot of moms in the various mom groups I’m in really like their Spectra S2, so I’m going with that. ETA: I did need different size flanges which seems super common with Medela.

I also used the Medela PISA last time and I had no issues. I liked that I could get any replacement parts fairly easily.

This doesn't really answer your question, but I wanted to throw it out there just in case anyone else ends up with the same problems I had.
With DS#1 I kept getting clogged ducts and the amount of milk I got when I pumped kept decreasing. I suspect it was because the automatic pump I was using was not getting all the milk out. The manual pump they gave me at the hospital with DS#2 did sooo much better at getting all the milk out than the automatic at the hospital and the one I had at home. So I continued to use that instead.

This time around, I am also looking at a Spectra, although I think I might go with the spectra s9 plus for the portability. Maybe I can get more done while pumping. I ended up pumping a lot in the first few weeks due to DD not latching. Otherwise I'm going with the spectra s2.

I'm planning to get another PISA for many reasons mentioned above. I still have mine that I plan to keep at home and my new one will be for work. Easily replaceable parts was really nice. I also needed different sized flanges but it wasn't hard to get them. I used it 3x/day for 9ish months.
I do want an actual pump bag this time so I can just open the side of the bag and my pump is there. Any recs?

There are adapters so Medela parts will work with Spectra pump, in case anyone is interested in making the switch but is holding back because you already own Medela pump parts & bottles.

Another pump question: Should you replace a pump that's 5 years old? I just pulled out my Ameda Purely Yours and it seems like it works fine, but insurance will reimburse a Medela Freestyle.

My pump is 4 Year’s old and I’m replacing it. My insurance will give me a new pump for every birth so I figure why not upgrade!

Mine will be 3 years old and I'm replacing it, even though it was only used moderately. And honestly, I'm not even sure whether or not I'm going to BF this time but the insurance will cover it and I'm just planning to not even open the box. If I don't end up needing it I will donate it to a women's shelter.

Plus they look like they have lots of pockets.

Have you guys seen the new Medela pump that syncs to an app and tracks what you pump for you? I saw it at Buy Buy Baby and was so intrigued. But for $380, I’ll pass. Free is the way to go for me.

This fits here and I don't feel like making a new thread.
Can anyone suggest nursing pads? I wasn't a fan of Lansinoh last time around. Deciding between disposable and washable or a mix of the two.

I liked having a mix because disposable absorbs so much more but my nips got sensitive to them if I wore too much in a row. I did lansinoh for disposable so no help there. Bamboobies for reusable & they appear to still be in good condition after months of use - I found the heart shape less bulky / showed through clothing less than the round shape.
