Kate does have to curtsey to her SMIL though. At least when Prince Charles and Camilla are both there. Granted in a nice twist if Camilla is present without Charles and Kate is there with William then Camilla is supposed to curtsey to Kate. (learned this morning from spiraling after the Kate forgot to curtsey to the Queen at the wedding comments) Same with Beatrice and Eugenie - they have to curtsy to Kate when she is with William but if he’s not there, she curtsys to them. Well this is interesting, I don't know much about the curtsying "rules".

I would probably be about 30% successful with who to curtsy to and when.

And William is higher in the line of succession and when Kate’s with him, her rank is higher as well in a sense.

What happens to Camilla and Kate's ranks in the events that they both outlive Charles & William? I feel Kate's is higher since she's the mother of the future king of England, so she won't be forgotten about, but I'm not sure what I think about Camilla?

Yahoo Answers via Google tells me Kate would be known as Dowager Queen Consort, assuming Will ascended to the throne before passing. Can't find what it would be if he passed before and the throne went right to George.

That’s a good question I wonder if Camilla’s would be at the discretion of William? Since she’s the stepmother and not the parent of a monarch. In the same vein- Kate’s would be the discretion of George? And I guess it kinda depends what order it happens.

Maybe she would be "Queen Mother" just like QEII's mother was before she passed? Assuming George is king, not Will.

Also, my mom & I were talking royals today. She mentioned she had read somewhere that Harry is breaking protocol by getting married while Kate is pregnant, but that his reasoning had something to do with Philip. She was worried he’s more sick than they’ve released until we realized he’d be 97 in June.

Or meaning being engaged when she’s pregnant at all?

But my knowledge on the subject is limited to watching “The Crown” where Princess Margaret had to delay announcing her engagement due to the Queen being pregnant with #3. Edit: it may have been #4

I think the withholding life events/announcements only pertains to the reigning monarch, so Margaret had to wait because the Queen was PG. Kate being PG isn't as "important" because Will isn't King

One the other day was saying the queen is angry becuse megan isn’t a citizen yet so she still will have to pay US taxes which gives them (the irs) the right to investigate her finances and therefore the crown’s finances. Why do I click these things?! 🤷🏻♀️

It was in 2012 that the Queen updated the "Order of Precedence" to make Kate curtsy to the blood princesses, so it isn't a long standing thing. Charles or Will could easily change it if they decide they want to.

Charles or Will could easily change it if they decide they want to. So when Will becomes king, would Kate outrank the blood princesses then? Would they have to curtesy to her if Will wasn’t there? Or would it remain the same?

I had read there was some thought Will might loosen things up a bit once he's King in order to help maintain the monarchy's more positive public opinion, but I can't be sure it was a legit source and it seems to go against him being so strict with his household rules so I have no idea if there's any truth to it.

There's a welcome to the family if I've ever seen one She did the same thing after Charles married Camilla, and apparently Sophie (Edward’s wife) was displeased about having to curtsy to Camilla. I don’t think it’s really a slight at Kate, just how things are done. I imagine it was updated after Diana married Charles as well.

Joint engagement for Will and Kate today in Sunderland. <snip> Kate in Dolce & Gabbana. I love this Dolce and Gabbana coat on Kate so much. Color, cut, everything. I remember loving below D&B coat on her too. I know she might get flack for wearing something so similar in two different colors, but eh, she's 8 months pregnant and looks fantastic. Cannot fault her for that.
