I want to like it but it's just ok in my opinion. I think it's the hemline at the bottom that's throwing me.

I have this same thought every time I comment on her designer clothes. While I hang out in my Goodwill/Target specials with remnants of DS2s lunch on them😂

Her ankles look a bit swollen in the first photo. Poor lady still has to wear heels😕 I hate heels even when I’m not pregnant, I’ll wear them, but I hate them.

Or it is to me, at least. That's the length I grew up seeing teachers and older ladies at church wearing.

It’s not one of her worst looks, but she just is unfashionable to me 80% is the time. But when she does a look well, which is getting rarer and rarer, she knocks it out of the park.
Maybe she’s as terrible to work for as the rumors say, so when she and Will have been especially awful, her staff gets revenge by convincing her these things look good.

I didn't know she was terrible to work for There’s nothing conclusive because the staff all has NDAs and the Cambridges sue easily. But the leaks are that they are difficult- I think more Will than Kate though. They have a much higher than normal (for the royal family) turnover rate for household staff - not for the more visible roles but for the housekeepers, maids, etc. Rumors include that they are very strict in protocol- most of the royal family is said to be pretty loose with their “core staff” meaning they only have to bow/curtsy the first time they see them, being able to address them more informally in private, and things like that. But Will and by extension Kate insist on very strict protocol no matter how close of staff they are- curtsying every time they enter a room, never speaking unless spoken to, and things like that. In addition, they are said to expect really long hours, but I think that is pretty common amongst the royals and pay low because it is “an honor” to work for them. But again, that isn’t just them, from what I hear.

It seems so strange to show such deference to people in the 21st century based simply on birth/class. If my boss said I need to curtesy every time she walked into the room, I’d laugh in her face. I struggle with appreciating the tradition/culture and feels by like it’s all terribly antiquated.

I struggle with appreciating the tradition/culture and feels by like it’s all terribly antiquated. And not just your employer.... even in the family. There are rules about who curtsies to who when and how often and it changes based on whose spouse is in the room- it’s just so antiquated and strange to me. Yet fascinating all at the same time!

But again, that isn’t just them, from what I hear. I'm really surprised to read this. I guess I could see William maybe being that way, but it would surprise me if Kate was like that. For some reason she comes across as being more down to earth/informal, based on how she is quick to kneel down to talk with kids at engagements, and her willingness to join in on activities at more informal/sports oriented events (like picking up a field hockey stick even while in heels or playing kickball despite being in a dress). I dunno, maybe I just assume she is more normal or nice based on her middle class upbringing (when her parents worked for British airways). Then again, they are so super private, who really knows what their behavior behind closed doors is vs their public personas. As an American, I also don't understand the necessity for so much protocol and pomp. It seems icky/classist to me. It's actually quite common in the country where I live...even every day greetings (and your body language/level of bow during the greeting) is a reflection of your place/status in society. It makes me so uncomfortable and I hate it.
