We have a microfiber sectional that we paid to have treated for stains. It is 7 years old and looks great. Liquid repels off of it and anything that does stain comes out with the cleaner we have for it.

We have microfiber treated with stain resistant.
I have a weird thing where I cannot stand the feeling of leather on my skin (if was wearing shorts or even short sleeves). We had a very expensive leather sectional and chair but I just couldn't take it any more. We gave it to my nephew when we got another. He was psyched.

We had a pleather couch that was awesome....until it started to crack. And once it did, there was no stopping it. Pieces would come off all the time, it was messy and worrisome with our toddler. We had a recliner that did the same thing and we got a cover for it to protect us from the pealing, but the couch was too large to find something for. I was so sad because the electric recliner parts were fine, but the material was shot amd would have cost a ton to reupholster.
We ended up getting a microfiber, but in dark brown to help hid stains between cleanings. I love it so far.

We have something just like @k3am's H's dream couch and I love it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have leather but prefer fabric. Leather is very practical for the dumb dog tho.

I will say I do like that I can wipe down the leather with those wipes and it looks and smells new each time. But that’s it. Leather can suck my dick.

I don't even like leather seats in my car. I compromised on H's leather recliner that I never sit in.

I hate leather couches. We have performance microfiber from Pottery Barn and it has stood up to everything. Everything. I just take a wipe and wipe it and then it's good as new. This includes when my kid basically took his oily hands and smeared them on the couch. I just wiped it and clean. These look fucking amazing and way way way out of my price range. I can dream.

We bought leather for the first time after having cloth for 15 years. I love it. It feels like butter, looks good always and it’s color is starting to wear a little, but in an aged way. I know it’s cold when you first sit on it, but that doesn’t bother me. We also don’t allow our dog on the couch, so the nails scratching or poking a hole aren’t an issue. I may be the only one here on this issue, but we allowed kids to eat on our furniture so this may have contributed; our fabric couches would always have a strange smell after a few years. I do have a sensitive nose, but I couldn’t get past it.

I love the look of real leather. Bonded leather starts peeling and flaking and looks terrible. But go fabric if not spending the money for real leather.
