To be fair the FBI was also screaming about national security. Rightfully so. And I just read that declassifying the FISA warrant may subject it to the FOIA. If that's true, that's really not good.

Can I just say, whothefuckever decided the messaging strategy Democrats should take is that releasing the Nunes memo, which told us almost nothing we didn't already know, is imperiling national security is a fucking moron. The problem with the Nunes memo isn't that it jeopardizes NatSec. The problem is that it's ridiculous, partisan, cherrypicked tripe that tells us nothing new, but does confirm important information including: 1) the FBI investigation into Trump started before the Steele Dossier, and 2) the dossier was not the only piece of information in the FISA application. Take this moment of "transparency" to point out how little has been revealed that isn't in your favor and move the fuck on, instead of screaming about NatSec. I took it like it was a national security threat because the GOP was so okay with releasing information when they thought it would help them. and that it is a security threat because they could do it again with actual sensitive information because this shows they give no fucks about security when it could help their party. I've been so busy and not able to pay super close attention though so maybe I missed the mark lol

Natsec concerns I think stem from the means and methods. Also this is exactly what Russia wants, a country mistrustful of their own justice and intelligence departments.

Secret Agent Bucket Hat is a weird hill to die on, Devin. Apparently he's not done. Brian Stelter @brianstelter Nunes says "stay tuned:" @bretbaier asked him, Are there other memos that will come out? "Yes, this completes just the FISA abuse portion of our investigation. We are in the middle of what I call phase 2 of our investigation," involving the State Dept.

So he's working on writing something else that will tell us pretty much no abuse happened and further cement that the FBI knows shady happenings went down with Trump? What excatly does he think he is gaining here?

State?! I mean......theFUQ? Because they're all Deep State ersumshit? Actually I was hoping you'd have the inside scoop on why State is looking to be the next target on the Nunes Memo Hit List.

I guess maybe they're trying to delegitimize sanctions? But sanctions are handled by Treasury. I do have friends at State who were sent to Moscow and then expelled. I can ask around.

I still think there could have been stuff removed this week that Schiff, DOJ, etc knew was in there originally. We know Nunes "revised" the document since the committee first voted to release it, but didn't share that revision, and we heard the WH made some further edits last night (not redactions - actual deletions). So there very well may have been truly sensitive info there at the beginning that everyone was having a conniption about that was then edited out. And I still think that was probably purely about sources and methods, or about the FISC process.

And I still think that was probably purely about sources and methods, or about the FISC process. And I fully support redactions (or, when necessary, deletions) that protect sources, methods and anything else sensitive. But the problem is that Nunes whipped everyone into a frenzy about the contents of this memo BEFORE any opportunity for the Executive branch to redact or remove highly sensitive information. He did that on purpose . Because now they can point to any withholding of information as "a cover-up.'

And may I remind everyone that these were the same people calling for the very head of President Obama for commuting Chelsea "release the memos" Manning's sentence bc of a failure to protect classified intel

Well here's one way this gets worse for security... the first FOIA has been filed.
Oh, and the "Obama tapped my phones" business is relevant again.

I have this constant feeling of dread that these asshats are going to cause WWIII. While we are fighting amongst ourselves in government, what exactly is Russia’s endgame? I was reading that they might have some super nuclear submarine weapon...none of this feels good. I mean I just have zero faith in this administration. Doom and gloom party of one.

I’m sorry blurnette989. The book I am reading deals with WWII and the Nazi invasions/camps so that is fueling some of my anxiety. I just think how could people do these horrific things following one man, then I see the news and oh... *the book is Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly and haven’t finished yet, but it’s really good!
