How's your week starting off? Fully rested from the weekend I hope!

The best part of the weekend was getting Alex to accept some formula. He had 2 bottles Saturday evening and one Sunday morning. After that I had no more luck getting him to take it again. But I'm crossing everything that DC has some success today too. I took DS1 off BM at 6 months too but continued to nurse evenings/weekends. I think I can't do that with Alex. I don't want him to continue to favor BM and be hard to feed formula. We'll see how long this transition takes.

I'm tired and it's cloudy out so that's not helping. It's also still busy time of the month at work. Lots of coffee in my future today.

I know I'm much better about being on here during the week than the weekend. Very thankful I can get here on my work laptop.

A had a great weekend. We went to a birthday party and I'm always nervous about her with big crowds because she freaks the fuck out and won't leave my side. She was great! She went to different family members and had a blast on the swings and on the pony.

We may have had a little too much excitement about the baby actually taking a nap finally on Sunday (no nap longer than 15-20 mins on Saturday ), and had a quickie. He pulled out the first time we did it a few weeks ago, and that was going to be our method until my period shows (I weaned Mother's Day weekend), but in our excitement he didn't pull out. Not that we have high hopes of conceiving, since A came 4 years almost to the day after we started trying for her, there are moments where she's colicky and we say never again. One of those moments was like an hour after the sex LOL

No PP period yet so I was pretty sure we'd be ok, but I kept thinking: what if we just happened to catch the ovulation before my period first comes back???

I've read that most of the time you do not ovulate before you're first PP period. I am sure there are a ton of stories out to to the contrary. But allegedly it rarely happens.
DH and I had a long talk about whether we would have any more kids. I always wanted three but now I'm not sure. DD had been great, but we both feel like we wouldn't sign up for a repeat of the newborn stage. It's early still - I know that - but I keep thinking about it.

Busy start to our week today. I hope the rest of the week calms the fuck down. We have a concert on Saturday. I am kind of deading it since I won't have a way to pump and will be away from G for 6+ hours. I feel like I'm gonna be super uncomfortable and possibly leaking everywhere. Am I crazy to even try to go that long?

You only need to express a bit to feel comfortable again so it can be quick while you're in a restroom.

Last week was INSANE. 😒
I had my 6wk appointment, DS had his infant hearing screen, we were all still getting over our colds, and he also is going through leap so he's been super cranky. AND my gall bladder is acting up and it's very painful
I need a vacation
ETA oh and I went back to work today. Rude.

I'm going to a breastfeeding support group tomorrow and not sure what to expect. I'm not good at meeting new people but I'm hoping that it will be helpful and not too weird. The LC will be there and we'll get a weight check which will be good.

piratecat try not to stress, it will privacy probably be mostly chit chatting, possibly lightly guided discussion about issues. Everyone should be supportive and welcoming. Possibly a little sleep deprived but nice. At least that's how it should be. I hope it's good for you

We chitchat to start and end, and sometimes a group will go get lunch or coffee after.

I've been to 2 concerts and a show where I was away from him for that long - when he was 3m, 5m, and 7m. Each time I was very full when I got home, and needed to pump basically immediately, but other than being a little sore, some nursing pads took care of any leaking and my nights were fun enough it was so worth it. I'm doing it again this weekend as I'm also headed to a concert Saturday so no, I do not think you're crazy at all.

Morning! It's my busy week but I find myself in a really good mood this week.
We had great success with formula feeding yesterday. DC was able to give a whole 6 oz! My cold's gone but still not pumping as much as before. I don't remember being this sensitive to illness when I breastfed DS1. Also, Alex still wakes up MOTN to eat. Usually he falls asleep while nursing or I rock him. Last night I paid close attention and when I heard him stop eating, I popped him off and put him back in his crib. He fussed around and usually that's when I'd pick him up and rock him. This time I restrained myself and went to the bathroom to wait. And he fell asleep on his own! Not sleep training in the usual sense but trying to get rid of some habits.

I just rejoined WW. I'm down to pre-pg weight but still heavier than what I'd like. I'm only 4 pounds from the lowest I was last year when I had resolved to lose weight before starting IF treatments. I've found if I try on my own with like MFP I cheat. I need the accountability of WW meetings.

grover, Good luck with WW! I need to start something too. I had great success with MFP a few yrs ago. But 2 kids and a husband later I doubt I have the time or energy to be as committed as I was back then.

Trying to get DD to nap but I think she's refusing. She fell asleep nursing but then woke up as I was leaving the room. Sigh.
I'm giving one more technique a try to get her to take a bottle. Basically just unlatching her and offering the bottle every minute or two during morning feedings. So far no tears during alternating, and she did latch on the bottle a few times. I've read keeping at this daily for a week or two should work. If this doesn't work, DH and SIL will have to syringe or cup feed her. So FX it doesn't come to that.

The support group went well and J gained a good amount of weight. And of course he only fussed a little in front of the LC.
We may switch to bottle feeding, although I worry that it's too early. But finger feeding has been tough and especially if we are having to continue supplementing for a while and in larger quantities.

@icedtea thanks! I'm sorry that you've been having bad nights. Nights have been hard for us too, although we did have a pretty decent night yesterday.

The week is going sloooow for us, but that's ok because H goes back to work next week which means I'll be flying solo during the day.

I've had to bottle supplement both kids early. Read up on paced feeding and ask your LC what bottle she suggests. We use Dr Brown original with Level 1 nipple to start. Both my kids prefer boob to bottle but will take bottles.

moutonrouge just keep practicing with the bottle. N was super stubborn about it. We did wind up moving to a faster level 2 nipple, but it was really that she had to want to do it. The first week I went back to work she was refusing all day until 2pm. Now she knows the routine and is happily taking 3 a day as she should. It was super stressful.

So I called Friday's concert venue to enquire about a exception to the no reentry policy. They are trying to work with me and will call me back with a solution. Fx I can leave and then come back in. Otherwise I will be camped out in a bathroom stall hand expressing. Dh did offer to help me with that
