... we’re on hour 6 of no computers. IT doesn’t know what the issue is. He had us log in and went “oh, no that’s not right.” And went back to the server room. That was over an hour ago.... this looks promising. IT is the bain if my existence.

guster sorry you didn’t get much for answers. The hearing test is passive: meaning they put little buds in their ear and send a sound or something. The machine reads it and they don’t need the toddler to actually participate or react. Oh, good. The secretary on the phone told me that they ask that child to look or raise their hand in the direction they hear the sound. I felt like a fool telling her there's no way my almost 2-year-old could do that.

If I remember right it was pretty quick.

I'm sorry guster, I know it can be frustrating when you're hoping for something concrete to point to as the cause of some issues/concerns. If it helps, B had hearing tests when he was about C's age (and then yesterday as well). It'll likely be in a booth, he'll sit on your lap, they'll play varying tones and sounds from different corners of the room at different pitches, etc. and see what he reacts to. They can actually get a pretty fair assessment from that. There are a couple other ones they can do, to test reactions in the middle ear and how well the eardrum is working, that basically just involve inserting a tiny probe in the ear. They really aren't too bad, only take a matter of seconds (tympanometry) or minutes (MEMR). B has had both. I'm sure C will do just fine.

Do you think he would like a shower? No. He freaks out by it. He'll get in the tub after trying to negotiate Dude is positively terrified of the shower.

Why do I always feel so energetic during L's nap, and then it's instant exhaustion when she gets up? I should have napped. Laundry, cleaning the kitchen and watching the Bachelor could have waited!

S sometimes showers- by himself but with a shower curtain partially open
But reading this I see many of you don’t wash them anymore? I guess I should be letting him do that himself??

The doctor doesn't think that he has any hearing loss, but he wants to be complete, and I do appreciate that. It makes sense to me that the constant congestion would create a nasal quality to his voice, but man I wish he didn't yell so much. I'd like to equate it to being frustrated to not having the words, but he has the words and he still yells.

I can relate to how you're feeling frustrated, Dude is and has always been so intense. It's gotten so much better lately, I think they manage to get some perspective and calm down at some point. For us, that's only happened recently.

Re: showers 9/10 we’ll put them in the tub together. I often join them... it’s my ‘zen’ time, for lack of a better word. They love showers in the pool and are okay with them at home, but we do have a handheld one.

We only do it if he is being super stubborn and refuses. He's become very assertive about not wanting to be touched sometimes and I'm happy about that. It's a way for him to test boundaries with how much control he has over who can touch him and when. If we do end up washing him it's after several requests and then a few warnings that we will have to do it if he does not.

wineallthetime I know, it’s weird. I sing silly songs and they’re all cute and giggly (until they’re not 😉) and it’s one of my favourite things. I love the smell and look of tired, clean rosy cheeked kids in pyjamas.

cagoldi, I'm afraid time is our solution. Intense is the right word-- it's s strong personality and I don't know when it's coming. Josie is stubborn and sensitive, but a little more predictable.

Yesterday C asked me to get in the tub with them. They were already fighting over space between the 2 of them!

DH lets H wash herself but I usually do it when I’m on bath duty. Or if I let her wash her body I make sure she got everything. I always wash her hair.

I'm not getting in the tub with C. He's a dirt squirrel.
Also when he does shower I wash him. Because of his eczema he uses dove body wash and adult shampoo that isn't tear free. If I let him wash himself it inevitably gets in his eyes. Plus he's dirty and needs the help.
