I haven't taken anything elderberry lately but I have in the past.
I don't think it will keep you from getting sick but I do think it's supposed to help the severity and duration.
I want to say that it has been shown to inhibit pathogens?
But mostly I'm team can't hurt, might help.

I need to unjoin this group already. Caved and bought one of this silly applique mini boden dresses..but $14 shipped and they retail for $45! And now just bought gap kiss overall jumper. ‘This group’ as in N13? I object and decline your desire to leave. She’s talking about the resale group on fb. We wouldn’t let her leave.

joelies The doctor I saw Monday warned me about the cough, but I didn’t expect it to be like this. I’ve never coughed so hard and so much in my life. Nothing touches it and it’s so annoying. I also want it to be gone so I can stop wearing this mask around the kids. I don’t want to risk not wearing it because I really don’t want them to get the flu even though I shouldn’t be contagious anymore. So much anxiety about them. Are you coughing stuff up? Is it productive? You may want to take Mucinex to loosen it up and chug water. I has a ridiculous case of recurring pneumonia when I taught. I could exhale and hear air come out of my lung like a fan. Not to spook you but the serious flu cases that are reported are often of complications from a secondary infection 😟. It was a very productive cough for about 2 .5 days. Now it’s more of a dry cough from irritation.

Maybe this elderberry crap will help my cough. Do they sell it at Whole Foods? Yes, I’m desperate.
Going to get some mucinex tomorrow, too.
ETA: Thanks for “listening” to me whine about it and for offering advice.

I don’t think our old dog is doing too well. Dh has been making comments for a few days, but I really noticed tonight. He keeps just stopping mid walk with his tail between his legs and he’s having trouble getting up and down. And we’ve noticed him just staring into space a lot. I laid down with him tonight for about an hour and just cried and told him what a good dog he is. We got him our senior year of college as a puppy and my heart is breaking if we’re getting towards the end. I’m holding out hope that he’s just acting weird because of all the changes in our house these week.

Do any of you take elderberry syrup? That’s a big thing with the crunchy moms on my fb. I drink elderflower lemonade (made from a syrup). Did not know of it’s special powers, it’s just delicious! Feels like a grown up version of lemonade.

tgrimes I'd really urge him to get checked out today if it's bothering him. The more time passes between the accident and him seeking help, the more likely the workers comp will be denied. I'd hate to see him go a week and then they say it could be from something else and you're stuck with medical bills and appeals.

Sorry you're still feeling so worn down, lahdeedah. Both times I had pneumonia, I had a pain in my shoulder/upper back and shortness of breath, but the thing I felt most was overwhelming exhaustion. Yeah that's when I realized what was going on with me - the pain in my back was insane. For me, it was ribcage level. It's not unusual to pull a muscle from the coughing.

There’s a time limit for workman’s comp claims and we’ll be going OOT Tuesday. Fucking men don’t listen.

Thanks everyone. wedding do you have any advice? He doesn’t seem to be pain, for just some discomfort and tired. If it is his time we would like to let him go peacefully at home, is there anything we can give him to make him more comfortable. Obviously if he starts acting like he’s really hurting we will take him to the vet and make decisions from there.

@xolastunicronxo our dog always had stomach issues when I was in the hospital having babies. Either be being gone or him just sensing a change in the family had to be it. I hope your dog is just adjusting.

I have a really dumb question. Our dog is our first pet, neither of us had pets growing up. If you have a pet that dies at home, what do you do with them?

We’ve always buried ours on our property and put a marker of some sort for them. For example, a duck decoy for our lab that was a duck hunting dog. Or I bought a small stone (rock) with a cute saying for our mixed breed that was my companion for 10 years before S came along. But I think you can take them to a vet to have cremated as well. When my sisters dog had to be put down they gave her the option to take him home to bury or to cremate there. She chose to cremate. I think they even gave her the option for them (the vet) to keep the remains to dispose of or to send home with my sister in a container of some sort.

Obviously if he starts acting like he’s really hurting we will take him to the vet and make decisions from there. If he's having trouble getting up that is a sign he's in pain so I would have him looked at. It could be something simple think an inflamed disc and can recover well with a dog NSAID or something worse. Unfortunately you won't know until you go in. Dogs rarely show pain by whining and show it more through immobility. Unfortunately people pain meds can cause stomach issues so I wouldn't recommend them. The other crappy thing about pets is they rarely have the decency to die in their sleep as we would want. There are mobile vets though who with euthanize in the home if it is time so that might be worth looking into now and having info on hand. I hate your having to even think about this now. Maybe give it the weekend and see how he adjusts and if still having mobility issues Monday, make a check up appointment.

I have a really dumb question. Our dog is our first pet, neither of us had pets growing up. If you have a pet that dies at home, what do you do with them? We always buried them in the yard growing up but now I know there are places you can call to pick up and they will cremate or bury. You can also bring the body to the vet. Sadly we had that happen a few times at the vet but we were happy to help make arrangements. In the unlikely event that Max passes on his own at home, I have a place lined up that will pick him up within an hour.
