There's a political science professor on 1A who is a real dingbat and Joshua is not having it lol lol I was listening to that in the car and chuckling. Dingbat is an accurate description.

Thanks all. Apparently gastric bypass + pregnancy can lead to extremely low iron. Who knew pregnancy wasn’t supposed to generally suck this bad?

I'm home from "shutting down" and trying to decide which comfort food to order for lunch.

My dad has to keep working despite the shutdown. He retires in 2 months so he was mehaboytit, but man I'd be salty if I had to keep working without pay.
Also, I'm always surprised when he is considered essential as he is in public affairs.

Schumer's only comment to reporters was, "You'll hear from us shortly."

According to Twitter They have the votes. If I’m Schumer I hold a press conference and I say that we are voting this through to open the government but I expect, from the word of Republicans, a vote for DACA by _______. Put it on the Republicans

My boss is of the opinion that we'll be back to work by Wednesday. That's just his personal opinion, not based on any "inside info" or anything. I hope he's right, but I hope that the Dems don't have to betray the Dreamers to make it happen.

Put it on the Republicans Mitch is supposed to address the chamber on DACA after the vote. I don't trust Twitter enough until the YEAs are counted. I agree. Although it’s the first sign of being close I’ve seen. I hope Ds put this all on Rs. A bad ass press conference is needed. Lol I’m still pissed.

This is the worst possible position to be in, because, like, I totally understand why the shut down happened. Yup. Part of me is totally in favor and part of me is like "how am I gonna pay my billllllllsssss?"

But at the same time, I want to throw (and have thrown) a temper tantrum over their treating governance like a game. I knew politics was politics but I didn’t understand how politics it was.

I wish there was some negative consequence for Congress in not having a budget passed by October 1st when the fiscal year begins. Like, CRs are illegal and Congress doesn't get paid until a full budget is implemented.

Some dumb witch from the church I went to as a kid (that I had forgotten I had on my list on FB) posted some dumbass meme about how Schumer, Pelosi, and the rest of the Democrats shouldn't get paid until they grew up, made compromises, and voted to reopen the government.
When I asked why just the Democrats, especially when there had been attempts at a bipartisan agreement, but the White House, Ryan, and McConnell had shut that down, she blocked me.
So, yeah. I still hate people today.

Good for Schumer for laying it all out there. If only the people who need to listen would listen.

I really don’t know how I feel about this agreement. I don’t think the Dems got anything out of this. And I don’t see the house bringing up immigration.

They're buying into false promises, but I don't know what else they could do. At some point, they are going to have to hold the line, no matter what, and unfortunately, I think it's going to hurt blue chances at the polls.

Well if they don't, we get to do this all over again in three weeks. And the Dems will be in a stronger position because they compromised now. I hope you're right. ETA: About the stronger position. I actually really hope the GOP honors their word, but I have no faith in that.

I'm torn on this vote. I don't want the shutdown but I don't trust R's to follow through on promises.
And I hate this spin that the WH is doing.

Mike Lee of Utah and Rand Paul voted NO, along with 16 democrats: Blumenthal, Booker, Feinstein, Gillibrand, Harris, Hirono, Leahy, Merkley, Murphy, Warren, Sanders and others. A lot of the Democrats voting no are the ones I expect to make a run in 2020. Not that that is why they voted no, but it won't hurt them with progressives.

I have no confidence we won't have another shutdown in 3 weeks. It really does feel like Dem's got nothing from this. Ugh.
