Can I join this too? Baby fever me wants to start trying the second I unpack in the new house. Practical me thinks paying half my deductible in 2018 and then the whole damn thing in 2019 would suck.. Nope, you need to get KU in like March. A will not even consider it until we are completely in the house and settled. And since we're still waiting on the state of Ohio to get us what we need- it'll be like May/June at this point..

wineallthetime finally fell asleep around 2. I hate not being able to sleep. inthekitty I... think so. I’m not ready to make any permanent decisions yet (aka a vasectomy), but I’m Leaning towards this being our last baby. Dh is suddenly super gung-ho about having 5, which is weird since he was always on the fence about 4. I would love to have ten more babies.... I just don’t want to be pregnant, lol. I’m totally on board of science can cut gestation down to three months.

Your beautiful hair has prompted me to book a cut yummeecookee. I don't think I've cut it since April😬 Yay! You will need to show us pics here. I thought it was funny bc our payroll officer also booked a haircut yesterday (with a little encouragement from me).

I vividly remember watching a movie called The Last Unicorn in ‘guidance class’ in elementary school. Anyone else?

We never watched in at school and I don't know what guidance class is, but I love that movie and own it.

This is basically the only reason I want to wait! Oh, so you guys don't want to be home with a newborn, 2 year old and 4 year old like I will be? I have no idea why not! Are you doing a homebirth?

They were talking about waiting to have another kid because the older ones will be in kindergarten/preschool so they'd have free time with just the baby.... like after the baby is already born.

We never watched in at school and I don't know what guidance class is, but I love that movie and own it. My elementary school had a guidance counselor and once a week or so she'd come to each class for a period and do a lesson or games about feelings, character education, pertinent topics (peer pressure, etc). eta: I have no idea what made that movie acceptable viewing during guidance class. I remember very little from it, except the song, which we made fun of.

I considered it with Dude, but Pete was not okay with that, so we wanted to do a birthing center instead. Turns out neither were ever an option for me anyway because I have a heart murmur and 472 other things that make me high risk. There are a fair amount of women in my Vegan Moms Group who do a home birth. Many said that it's not their preference but choose that because it's much cheaper.

I'd thought I'd heard insurance won't cover a home birth. Though I guess if you have a high deductible that'd be a factor. I would never do a home birth, so I never looked into it personally.

cagoldi that was the case with us too. First time I was induced because I was showing signs of pre-e. Which turned out to be a blessing because ds wasn’t doing to well during and after birth. With dd there were risks that she would be on small side (like ds) and Dh didn’t feel comfortable staying at home. Dd was a perfectly healthy size and being in the hospital wasn’t good for me emotionally, so next time if at all possible we’re staying home. I have to add that home births are common in Holland (about a third of all births are at home).

I'd worry about something going wrong but I also want people to take care of me. And my hospitals food was really good.

She had the cord wrapped around her neck a few times and they had to work on her a bit before she started crying. Scary. Also, like wedding said, I like people doing all the things for me. And I don’t want to have to clean that mess in my house. ETA: and duh, how could I forget one of the most important parts, no epidurals at home.

I know I'm way in the minority, but I would not want a nurse at my house all day for a week right after labor. All I wanted was my own house without extra ppl in it (probably bc I did not get this with either child)

Next time she can come for check ups and too clean a little, but certainly not for the whole day, it felt like having visitors all.the.time. But I hated staying in the hospital too...

With Charlie I asked to go home after just one night stay, and they said as long as the baby had been checked after the 24 hour mark it would be fine. It was so wonderful to sleep in my bed that night.

Talking about home births vs hospital and US vs Europe .... I really learned a lot from Call the Midwife. There was a progression to hospital births but the midwives were trained nurses and I believe still are in Europe. Here it is just some woman who is a doula or even just by yourself. They also advocated for at risk to deliver at the hospital. I really recommend the show.

I think all states have different laws/rules.

Sunny41 correct. To become a midwife is a 4 year, full time study program, with very high entry requirements.

I get why people want a home birth, and to each their own, but I still wouldn't want to give birth at home if I had a roomful of doctors and trained nurses. I want the resources that are available in the hospital just in case. I get too nervous about the "what if" situations.

If something goes south, there’s no medical equipment in my house.

I want the resources that are available in the hospital just in case. I get too nervous about the "what if" situations. I feel like I know so much more about what can go wrong now that I wouldn't consider it, but with my first, I did. My mom delivered me at home. With no electricity. But I was way more idealistic about things the first time around. And Dude was big, I had back Labor, my uterus had to be retrieved manually, my cervix swelled so I needed an epidural to avoid a C section. Even if I had tried a home birth or birthing center, I probably would have wound up being taken to the hospital.
