I've still been sleeping sometimes on my back because of my sinuses being so stuffy, but I'm propped up so I'm not sure if that counts? I also get really sore hips sleeping on my sides =/ larzhope, I'm sorry you're so sick. Hopefully you start feeling better soon! Is anyone else being driven BSC by general messiness right now? I just scrubbed the heck out of my kitchen and I'm considering doing the bathroom next.

larzhope that sucks, being at home but not being able to enjoy it is so frustrating! It seems like a long stretch now but you’ll be back to it in a week. Hang in there.

My little lady wasn’t feeling herself yesterday (not sick physically but maybe a bad headache or something?) so I kept her home and we had a little visit to the botanical gardens near home. A turtle in the pond there always comes to visit her. It’s so cute!

larzhope, hope you feel better quickly. adeline, she's adorable! I have such a hard time falling asleep. I always end up on my back. I've tried the maternity pillow, wedges, normal pillows. Nothing works.

Don't worry guys. Every time I rolled onto my back last night, I woke up and couldn't breathe from the weight of everything pressing on my organs. numbears, unisom helps me fall asleep much faster. I also ended up buying a body pillow made of shredded memory foam and it's exactly what I needed. I didn't like the maternity pillow and normal pillows stopped working.

jessila My dr told me at my 23 week appointment to start sleeping on my left slide but not to panic if I wake up on my back. For DS1, I put a yoga bolster behind me do that I wouldn’t roll. When I was exercising with DS1, I would do weights on an inclined bench and I imagine that you could back sleep if you were propped up enough larzhope feel better! This flu season has been horrible! Speedy Yes on the messiness! I’m in the middle of a major decluttering phase at home. Everything has to go. It’s driving my H crazy!

Woke up on my back sometime during the night and all the muscles in my belly were hurting. Guess side sleeping it is!

I hate back sleeping and I hate side sleeping. Sometimes I use my pregnancy pillow to sleep halfway on my belly but propped up enough. But that puts a lot of pressure on my hips and then the baby kicks the bed so that’s not good either. Basically I’m resigned to shitty sleep for the next year or so.

Got my carrier screening results and everything was negative. Whew. Glad to have that worry over.

I prefer to sleep on my back so it’s hard not being able to. I still end up that way sometimes and I wake up because my hands/arms start to tingle/go numb. I assume that’s not good so I shift to my side. Dr said either side is fine so I rotate throughout the night because being on one side too long hurts my hips and my neck/shoulder. I’ve been using my pregnancy pillow for the last month or so just to get more comfortable.

itsmemeg, same with my hips. I tend to roll around quite a bit. When H is in the bed (rare because of his work schedule but he's sick right now so sleeping a lot) we tend to shift from cuddling and spooning a lot so that helps.

Yeah, my hips get really sore from sleeping on my side now. I bought a thick memory foam topper with the last pregnancy that I have stored away but I’ll probably have to break it out soon. It helped somewhat.
The pregnancy pillows didn’t help last time (too bulky) so I’m stealing my son’s stuffed animals and toddler pillows and strategically placing them in different spots to help get comfy.
ETA: And it seems way too early at 23 weeks to already be uncomfortable. I’m dreading what I’ll feel like at 35 or more weeks!

I’ve skipped the pregnancy pillow so far. We have this super firm foam pillow from ikea that neither of us like sleeping with, but it’s been awesome for between my knees. It keeps its shape & it’s just the size of a standard pillow, so not a ton of messing with with it middle of the night when I roll.

I love my pregnancy pillow. DH still hates it cause it takes up half the bed and he can't cuddle. I'm comfortable. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I love sleeping on my back. I am still mostly on my back. I have the pregnancy pillow barely propping me up so it still feels like I am on my back. A few times I have woken up and felt off so I just kind of rotate more to my side. My body tells me when I'm too uncomfortable.

I love my pregnancy pillow. DH still hates it cause it takes up half the bed and he can't cuddle. I'm comfortable. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I love mine too. H and I are light sleepers so never cuddle, but when V ends up in bed with me he hates it. He always climbs inside the pillow with me to snuggle.

I am all about the pregnancy pillow. I slept outside of it the other night to cuddle with DH, and I ended up at the chiropractor the next day. Though DH is my chiropractor so he probably considered it a fair trade

I had a pepsi today while writing my clinical notes. It's the first time I've had a carbonated beverage since I started feeling baby move (we drink a lot of water in my house) and holy cow. Remind me not to drink pop unless I really want to feel baby moving. Felt him/her all on my drive home!

I've been super uncomfortable sleeping and I'll be 19 weeks tomorrow. I have a feeling I'm having miserable sleep in exchange for no barfing. We also need a new mattress, I've been waffling on an online purchase with good reviews or one we can physically try. I need to just get something.
My body pillow isn't doing the trick this time either. I didn't start sleeping on my back until a few years ago, but that may have had something to do with our mattress. It's awful on my hips now

Well this is just great. I was just informed that I was exposed to the flu yesterday. My OB is calling in a prescription for Tamiflu just in case. I'm going to be so bummed if I end up getting the flu and we have to cancel our plans for this weekend. DH got me tickets to see the Lion King tomorrow for my birthday and I've been looking forward to this for weeks.

I slept on the couch in DS's room last night and it was the best sleep I've gotten in so long! And it forced me to sleep on my left side and not my back. I might be sleeping on a couch for the rest of this pregnancy. kookie3631, FX you don't come down with the flu.

Since the government shut down, MH didn't leave Sunday for his work trip like planned and it likely won't happen until next month, so he should be here for my a/s next week. I'm glad he'll finally be able to come to an appointment

I think it's time for me to break out the "pillow between the legs" thing for the sake of my hips.
