Moms of FF babies, how do you get your baby to take a full bottle at bedtime? DD2 is 10 weeks today and was a good eater from birth to about 5 weeks (she was combo fed back then) but has been a snacker since. Normal bottle for her is 3-4 oz but at night she will only drink an oz or 2 which leads to more frequent wake ups. I’ve tried diaper change, dim light, extra burping but she still drinks a little then falls back to sleep. DH got her to drink 4 oz one time and she slept for almost 5 hours so I know she has it in her. Now that I’m back at work I would love a few longer stretches since when she falls asleep I am still awake for a bit so if it’s 2 hours between wake ups I’m really only sleeping like one hour at a time. ETA we’ve been making sure there is more awake time when I get home from work in hopes that she will sleep better but so far no change. In the middle of the night, H will often fall asleep while taking his bottle. I know he’s not actually done because he doesn’t push the bottle out of his mouth. Instead of burping him, I lie him on his back in my lap. It makes him uncomfortable (because he hasn’t burped), and typically wakes him up enough to eat some more. I will also blow on his face a bit as I see him falling asleep while eating. It seems to help as well. When he was really little and had lost a bunch of weight, I resorted to a cold washcloth on his face sometimes. Thankfully that didn’t last too long.

Hi! I’m up and showered. I went out with some family last night and MH stayed home to put the kiddos to bed. I got to bed around 11:40 and knocked right out so I got around 6 hours of sleep. I feel like 6 straight hours of sleep for you = a full 24 hours!

I'm up but not because of the baby. I'm finishing out day 2 of a fever + body aches. I have mild chest congestion and random cough so I think I caught what DS1 had. Probably viral so I may as well just ride it out. Babysitter text that she may have caught it so I might have the kids all day tomorrow.

I’m up because I hear the baby stirring. I don’t know if he will get up yet or not. If he does, I will have to put him back up there when I shower.

He went back to sleep so I took a shower at my normal time. Now I’m done feeding him and we are cuddling until I have to wake up G for school.

I was up from 1-4 for 3 wake ups plus trying to get back to sleep in between that didn’t happen. Then at 5:30 for the day. I might die from lack of sleep. Hopefully my half day flies by today!

Last night was rough...due to toddler. He is finally getting his top molars. Yay?
V had a good night as usual: 9-12:30 then down by 2ish and slept until 5. After that I have no idea b/c I was holding her, nursing, and also trying to get toddler back to sleep, which never happened! Her wakeups are long but infrequent so I'm ok with that.

Once we got DS2 down we’ve gotten almost a 5 hour stretch which feels good. I’m hoping that last nights fussiness before bed was just gas.

Toddler is up again as much as baby, even with meds for teeth. Baby V is having her usual night with 2 wake ups, going fine so far.

E just slept 9:30 - 5:00. I got 6 hours in there. I can’t believe this baby likes long stretches of sleep!! With DD1 we sleep trained at one year, and i’m pretty sure we spent the whole year up every 2-3 hours. What a nice change. 😀

I guess DH woke up for baby’s 1 or 2am feeding and fell asleep while feeding her her bottle. He had her on the boppy lounger on the bed and I woke up at 3 to her wedged between the lounger and DHs butt crying. I’m am really rattled right now and can’t sleep. DD has started rolling on her side which I know is fine if she does it on her own but it still makes me nervous.

DD1 I couldn’t put down without her crying, as an infant. She wasn’t able to lie down awake and content EVER until 3 months, when I cut out dairy. I remember the first time it happened so clearly - she was lying down in her pnp, awake, just looking around, and it was mind blowing. Like, ohhhhhhh - THIS is what a normal baby is like!! Anyway, DD2 doesn’t seem to have tummy troubles, and I regularly put her down for a few minutes to do something and she just chills. Still kind of blows my mind though.

bassa besides crying all the time were there other signs hat made you cut dairy? I’m wondering if that’s part of the issue with DS2 and always wanting to be held.

Yes, unfortunately she started having blood in her diaper. So we took her to a pediatric gastroenterologist, who confirmed milk soy protein intolerance. Shortly after cutting all that out of my diet she was like a new baby! And for the first year any time I got antsy and tried dairy, she immediately had diarrhea, blood, and sometimes vomiting. She grew out of it at 14 months or so.

kbw I say if you suspect that’s the issue, it’s definitely worth it to try cutting dairy. I think it’s a somewhat common issue, and would gladly trade the bummer of no dairy for the quality of life improvement.

Depending on how you eat, it might not be a huge adjustment and can be so worth it!

First wake up at 10 here. I could only get T to drink 1oz though. Changed, rocked and back asleep. I have a feeling I’ll be up again shortly.

I'm up but everyone else in my house is sleeping. I literally could not quit coughing in bed. I coughed so hard once that I peed myself a little. Instead of just changing I decided to come downstairs so everyone else can sleep. I just took a hour long bath.... at 1 am.
Of course I coughed like twice in that hour. Must be something about laying flat. I'm running a fever with ibuprofen in my system so I'm gonna stay rotating with Tylenol. Effff you influenza!
