T has not let me put her down since 7pm. I think she’s finally asleep for good. Between constant snacking, pooping and burping I’m hoping to not see this thread for a couple hours. 🤞🏻
H went out for a bit to hang with brother and said he’d take the 2nd half of the night. Hoping for all the sleep 💤

I’m hanging in the hospital, no more induction stuff for a few hours. I thought the Foley was going to be awful, but it was fairly quick and relatively painless. The baby took FOREVER to pass his heart rate tests afterwards because he kept scooting away from the monitors until the nurse finally just stood there and held it. Then he fell asleep for awhile so his heartbeat was fine but too low to pass. I know there is much more discomfort to come, but omg I’m so glad to be off those monitors with their sticky gel and itchy belly band. I should definitely be trying to sleep but I am wide awake.

Apparently DS2 likes being wide awake from about 10-11 and constantly spit the pacifier out. It’s exhausting. We’re on wake up one currently after it and he’s out now so hopefully we’ll get a 3 or 4 hour stretch.

One of the boys is super congested sounding, but seems fine otherwise. Despite the congestion he appears to be breathing easily. I think it’s just scary for me after being in the NICU so long I’m obsessed with their breathing.

The witching hour for the twins is roUgh pretty much hot messes until midnight whether I try to keep them up or let them sleep. Tonight I tried keeping the lights dim once it was after dinner. Didn’t seem to help.
I can’t decide if they have their days and nights mixed up or if it’s just fussy babies being fussy and this will pass in due time, just like ds1’s witching hour.

Good luck snowyowl! DD2 just woke up for a bottle after just over 4 hours! That is the longest she’s gone! Before this it was 3 hours! Of course she downed her bottle like she was starving! Haha. Please let this be the beginning of a trend!

Baby had slept 7+ hours the last three nights, going to sleep between 10 & 10:30. She went to bed at 9:30 and slept until 3:30 tonight, which is fantastic. But now I’m wide awake. 🤷🏼♀️

Whyyy do these hospital beds have to be so uncomfortable? Slept a bit, now I’m up because they have to do an NST again. This time, being more confident with how babies work and everything, I wonder if I could get out of here early. They do two midnights so I should go home Friday, but if this baby isn’t as jaundiced as DS maybe I could just get out of here Thursday instead.

Well, if I have to be up at 5:30, at least curling is on? I’m googling rules, because I have no idea how this game works. Or how their shoes let them slide and/or walk and no one falls on their backside.

All our boxes would be checked with wtf she could possibly be screaming about... she’d be fed, bathed, warm, comfy, quiet, calm, gripe water... but no matter what we did, as soon as 8pm hit she would scream for a solid hour. And it eventually got better and better after a couple weeks. I hate to say it, but I think it’s just one of those things that has to pass in time. Babies are weird

So that’s what I did. I had her at 1:50pm and we were able to be discharged by 5pm the next day! Goodluck!!!

H gave me a 6 hour stretch last night... but it started at 730 so I didn’t get 2 of those hours 😑 I can’t seem to get her sleeping times during the day to coordinate so that she starts her night later than that. Oh well. She’s only 4weeks old today so I can’t complain!!

Good luck, snowyowl! I'm so excited for you. I hope the induction goes smoothly and everything proceeds according to plan! Yes, the hospital beds are crap. My tailbone still hates me for being in one for so long. My friend that just had a baby actually chose to sleep one night in the "window bed" usually used for the partners! Our hospital isn't really cool with early discharges but it is more due the peds than the nurses/midwives. I think the L&D people would be fine with it but the peds don't like the babies to go home that early.

V is only 2 weeks old but we've gotten about 3 nights so far with longish stretches of up to 4 hours! I am amazed. I didn't get that with DS until he was probably 8 weeks or so. (I'd have to go back to check.) During the wake ups I catch up here and read but don't post. I've found the more "active" I am on my phone during the night, the harder it is to go back to sleep. Reading stuff seems to be OK. Last night she slept 9-12:30 then 1:30-4:00 and then 5:00-6:30. Not bad! She is still kind of dozing now but was restless/noisy so I picked her up and came downstairs. The wake ups are about an hour so if that were shorter, that would be even better. If she didn't poop MOTN I think that would help b/c the diaper changes really make her quite alert. The nights she has slept well have been a little warmer so I think that might be a factor. Our DS likes to be really warm when he sleeps too so at least I know to try that. I'm scared of overheating her though b/c she is such a little thing.

Ds2 was born Sunday morning and we were home Monday afternoon. The pediatrician is the one who pushes 2 days but we were able to get into our pediatrician on day 2 so that’s why we got to leave. My OB prefers one day discharg s for 2nd time moms.

For J’s birth, i was in the hospital for 6 days. The hospital bed was sooo uncomfortable. Can’t they make those more comfortable??

Baby actually took really good naps today and slept a good portion of the evening. So I assume we’ll be up a fair amount tonight. 😜

We were discharged right at the 24 hour mark. That’s the minimum stay for a vaginal birth if all is well. Midwife and pedi were both totally fine with us leaving then.

H was a bloody disaster yesterday. Pretty much screamed from 3pm-7pm with a quick 20 min nap in the middle. So far it’s going really well tonight. Just had a diaper change and feeding then back asleep, all within 20 minutes. Just holding him upright for a bit in case he needs to burp again.
Here’s hoping the rest of the night goes well!
