I've had a Feb and a July baby and July was wonderful (especially in comparison to Feb!) It isn't flu season for awhile after you have the baby and you can go out and walk and enjoy the summer. To be fair, I'm in CT so we have beautiful summers, I probably wouldn't feel this way in the south. I'm very excited to have another summer baby. I never thought of those perks, but we have gorgeous summers here and it will be wonderful to get out even with a newborn. 😁 DD was born at the end of November so we were in full hibernation mode.

It's going to be hot as hell here when I'm very pregnant. I will need to find some good dresses and shorts to wear on my days off.

cornflakegirl , they really are! Unfortunately today is not the best! Hope you are surviving the snow and wind. Thank you, I hope you are too. I can't believe the wind today! A piece of our siding blew off and it's been banging against our kitchen window. Poor DH has to get on a ladder and try to secure it somehow.

cornflakegirl I’m glad your H got it secured. I don’t remember a snow storm this windy in many years, it is nuts. And the wind just keeps blowing.

catspajamas2 I'm just grateful that we didn't loose power. We have a generator just in case but it can only power part of the house.

MH drives me ducking nuts when it comes to names. He makes fun of 99% of names I suggest and says "that's weird". If he hasn't heard of it it's weird. If he has heard of it it's too common. 🤦♀️🤷♀️

Hugsto all that are struggling I still have a lot of food aversion but I'm also hungry and struggling to figure out what sounds good. I need to get more lettuce because the only consistant craving I've had so far is salad and hard boiled eggs. I need to get out my Instant Pot and hard boil some more eggs too. The food aversions are the worst. I keep eating the same things over and over again, and seem to be always hungry. Last night I had dinner and then 2 hours later I was hungry again. I'm definitely eating a lot of the same stuff too. I had 1.5 Italian Beef sandwiches for dinner and now it's 12:15 and I'm about to get a bowl of applesauce

Every name I’d bring up, he’d come up with someone he knows with that name and why he doesn’t like them.

So, I have a girl name I absolutely love. It’s MIL’s middle name and she and H are really close so it’d be a great fit. However, SSIL named her first daughter this name. We see them once a year at Christmas. We’re not super close with them. Would it be weird to use the same name? I just love it so much.
ETA - we don’t even know the gender yet so I have no idea if this will even be an issue. Lol

so i had the NT scan this morning and everything looks good, and my bloodwork came back low-risk. now i get to be terrified that this is really happening and have to start telling everyone. *bites nails*
baby was measuring 1 week ahead so there was some discussion about moving up my due date, but we decided to leave it because i think i ovulated/implanted late. i'd rather have the due date err on the later side than on the earlier side.

Are you just screening for some things, and not doing the full chromosomal panel? I gave my blood for that yesterday (Maternity 21 plus regular blood panel) and she seriously had to fill 12 vials. It was...a lot.

She took 6 other vials for everything else though (regular 1st trimester testing)

NIPT is still a screening test, not a diagnostic test. they are looking for other physical abnormalities that can't be detected by the NIPT (the test does not look at every chromosome in detail), as well as confirming the absence of physical markers for chromosomal abnormalities. my tech this morning looked specifically at the brain and heart, measured crown to rump length, and checked NT/nasal bone, as well as confirming normal anatomy (all 4 limbs). so basically you're combining the results of 2 screening tests to confirm low risk.

Got it. Last pregnancy, that's what I had, NT + blood test, but this time, my doctor just does NIPT, assuming there are no other factors that would require a NT. Also, I live in a small town and there is literally one doctor that does the NT and AS ultrasounds, so it wasn't a bad thing to not have to get on to his schedule. My OB thinks that the old system gave too many false positives.

Boy names are harder, neither of us love any of the ones on my list. We have several "it's ok" for either sex.

But I'm huge on not using popular names and not using names that anyone I know IRL has used. If it doesn't bother you and you both love the name, I say go for it. I will say, my sister's name is my absolute favorite girl name ever and I have considered using it for a girl. I even asked her and she was all for it. I don't think I actually would (as a first name) because my sister is my bff and we see each other often enough it might be confusing. And my SIL just named her new baby this name too. 🙄

I'm slightly nervous about names since my cousin is also pregnant. I'm sort of hoping we don't both have the same sex lol. I know nothing about her or her H's taste in names. I'm pretty dead set on Kathryn for a girl though. If she had a girl and used it I would be so upset. She's due 5 weeks before me.

I had a cousin due 7 weeks before me with ds and she had a boy also. I was so afraid she'd use my name. She didn't and my DS name is kinda different, so idk why I was so worried about it. Will your cousin talk names with you? Are you willing to tell her your name in the hopes she won't use it knowing you are?

To those who did the NIPT test, do you know the cost? I meant to call this week, but with a burst pipe /destroyed classroom at work and the snow it's been a little crazy. ;-)
I pay OOP until I meet my deductible of $1500. Which between doctor appointments and these tests, I should do by the end of January...

So after my last appointment the NP told me I'll be coming in for weekly ultrasounds to monitor my hematoma - I'm honestly relieved to be getting the extra monitoring even though it's inconvenient and pricey. klw, I'm in the exact same situation with my insurance. I know I'll meet my max OOP during the pregnancy; and lucky me, my insurance resets in July so I'm sure I'll meet it two years in a row.

I will seriously just barely leave my house once summer comes. That's how I survived with DD and I'll try to do the same this time. Unless we're going swimming, uh uh. Also, we don't have central a.c. but we're supposed to get it this spring. I plan on staying inside and being naked as much as possible. There's an indoor playground near us, so that will probably be the only place we go. And swimming, but the pool is outside and they don't allow kids in the indoor pool, like whhyyyyyyy. I kinda am leaning toward a boy, because I have a name picked out that H is also cool with. If it's a boy, I'm giving him my dad's birth name (he changed it when he immigrated to the US) as a middle name. If it's a girl, I have no fucking idea. There's a name I love, but it doesn't go well with my DD's name. For her middle name, I'd probably name her after my dad's sister (she's my favorite aunt and they never had kids).
