Did anyone see Rick Santorum's tweet? Is he really this stupid? I just..... "Sad to be criticized by the left for something as obvious as solar (clouds & darkness) and wind (calm winds) are not reliable or consistent." Yes, yes he is.

I don't want to spiral too off topic but I am really scratching my head over requiring the burial of a fetus because in my home state (and I thought many/all others) you aren't even required to bury an adult human. You can cremate them and keep or spread the ashes... whatever you decide. Either way, it is absolutely gross to have such a requirement and try to push your religion on others.

I think Trump's claims that he withdrew for economic reasons are bullshit. All the big tech companies - apple, Intel, Google, Microsoft, have spoken out against it. I think he did it because he wanted to give a big FU to the world and he wanted to appease his voters. Because if he doesn't have his base of supporters he has nothing.

Maybe don't speak about things you don't understand Santorum. Again the charging of a battery analogy. This is why we need scientists in politics. Santorum will forever remind me of Dan Savage's google search campaign against him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The reality is, if we want to add manufacturing jobs to the US economy, one of the best ways to do that is by adding jobs related to green energy/ technology. The US's economic interests would best be served by having a place at the table for these huge global environmental initiatives. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's like if we tried to shut down Henry Ford, because the horse breeders and wagon builders were losing their jobs. It makes no sense. Technology evolves and we should evolve with it, not fight against it.

Local politics related, but IL is close to being downgraded to "junk" status. Because after 2 years we still don't have a damn budget. All the schools and not for profits are suffering but our GOP governor and Democrat controlled congress are in a deadlock. I said a while back I don't think they should be able to get their salaries until they agree on a budget but now, seeing this, I'm even more upset. The downgrading will cost them significantly more but nope, no1curr.

It kills me that there are so many progressive positions/ initiatives from the environment to healthcare to parental leave that are actually also the most fiscally responsible/ pro-business choices, and yet our politicians still can't agree to support them.

Here, we have some kind of law in place that prevents law makers from getting paid if there's no budget. It would be nice if other states and the Feds followed suit

But we have to punish women for daring to not be human incubators. It's an added layer of financial burden to anyone getting an abortion. The fact that it also punishes women who miscarry is just icing on the cake to these assholes because I'm sure they believe it's the women's fault anyway.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I'm on my way to the closing on our house (which yeah that downgraded credit rating was great to read the night before we buy the forever home!) so I can't do it right now. If someone else wants to great, otherwise I will later today. Very short answer is that both groups ideologically disagree and no one will compromise. And our governor is a mini Trump. That might be an unfair explanation but he's a millionaire businessman who claimed he could turn IL around. That doesn't sound familiar at all now does it?

It's like if we tried to shut down Henry Ford, because the horse breeders and wagon builders were losing their jobs. It makes no sense. Technology evolves and we should evolve with it, not fight against it. A sizable segment of Trump voters believe the earth is 6000 years old and globally accepted science is a conspiracy. Many have only a limited understanding of how technology works and no training or interest in training to develop skills to help them in a changing market. They are hostile to progress, and see technological innovation as coastal elites encroaching on their cultural and economic sovereignty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yes, I agree those that will be personally effected in a negative way will resist, and I understand their hesitation for change. What I don't understand is why the leadership in this country is holding back progress of the entire county to pacify them.

They won't listen God created the planet. Evolution isn't real. God wouldn't let the planet be destroyed. There is actually an evangelical movement to understand climate change from a Biblical perspective. Like, God gave us this planet and we're morally obligated to take care of it. (Also: if we don't we die. But.) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Interesting! I didn't know that, thanks for sharing.

I heard a brief on NPR this morning from a coal miner in Ohio praising Trump for helping make their community feel safer. Because they have houses, they have cars!! So clearly we need to prop up their industry, even though it makes no environmental or financial sense. Talk about spechul snowflakes. In the corporate world, sometimes your job becomes obsolete. You don't play this woe is me BS, you move the fuck on and get yourself the skills needed for a new job. Or how about the Rs are the same politicians who refuse any efforts to increase the minimum wage, which would go a long way in helping out all those Americans with jobs in the retail sector? Apparently they are somehow not as deserving of their attention, even though their jobs are still very much needed.
Apparently I am angry this morning.

What makes me angry is this is such a lost cause. No matter what, coal is not coming back. So anything trump does "to make them feel safer" is only slightly delaying the inevitable and wasting time that could be spent on them learning new skills that are sustainable.

That is why we need universal income and incentives for healthy lifestyle, advanced education, and just better pay all around. Basically, i have 1000 needs and wants, but universal income and healthcare seems like a really great place to start.

The kids were playing with the car radio and somehow I'm on a talk radio station and our favorite Husky (Paul Ryan) was blathering on about the following
1) Being proud of all the executive orders 45 has signed vs HW, Clinton, W, and Obama. it was like 2-5 for all of them vs 30 for 45. Let's not mistake activity for progress, guys. 2) the republican agenda for the year, to REDO the entire US tax code to be in effect for fiscal year 2018; Rebuild the "gutted" military, and fix their appropriations for the year.
So while we have a 45 dumpster fires happening, and the rest of congress is just scooting along working on all these other things.
So, in short, the republicans think that we need to rebuild the military... Which means that we must be going to war sometime soon? yay?
One last thing- On the WSJ crossword one of the clues was "alternative facts" and the answer was "lies" I laughed.

This is random but I had a dream last night that instead of DH, Blake Shelton was DS's dad (which is weird because he isn't even a celebrity crush of mine). In my dream I was so excited about this because it meant we could afford to send DS to private school. 😂

Oh, and they also talked about the latest job reports. Which showed the lowest rate of unemployment in 11 years. But the rate of employment was down too. So someone is fudging the numbers somewhere.
