Speaking of mlms, I’m feeling conflicted. There’s a place in town that offers free classes on Thursdays and $6 classes on Monday and Wednesday but you get a shake after (shakes are typically $6). I didn’t realize until I stopped in that it’s a Herbalife place. I don’t really want to support them but surely going to the free class and not buying anything is ok, right? STAY OUT. Please at least watch the documentary on Herbalife on Netflix first. I did. Well I tried but I struggled to stay awake. That’s why I don’t want to support them in any way monetarily. But free is hard to beat and it looks fun. That’s where I’m conflicted.

Let’s not defend MLMs. They are the worse of the worst.

See, this is what I don't understand: for so many of us, this is a pyramid scheme, and it always has been. It's no different than the Ziga, the Arbonne, the Body By Vi, etc etc etc. Why anyone could hop on this train knowing about all of the companies that trended n' died before. The clothes are so cheap and ugly, to boot. Why ANYONE could think this is a good idea is lost on me. Who are the LLR sellers on HIH? SaveSaveI don’t know if you have a BMB, but most of mine is full of MLM nonsense. It is so upsetting. How do we, as women, stop this idea that staying home while peddling garbage is a good idea. Because it isn’t. I hate this push like you're supposed to be "helping" your friends by buying their shit. I can be your friend without giving you money.

And I find that a large number of the group is MLMs buying from other MLMs. Hey, maybe keep your $$ And not deal with that in the first place.

I didn’t know much about LLR until I read that long article someone posted about a month ago. Maybe it was thisbitch. It was a good article and broke down all the problems with LLR specifically. The quality tanking and the fact that they had no restrictions on market territory where the ones that felt the worst to me. Because if someone could actually carve out a modest business for themselves, they just screwed them over by making the product worse (and it’s not like it was cheap) and having 5 consultants in the same 1 mile radius. Oh and the fact that you can’t pick your inventory. I mean, that is such a red flag. So miserable.

If I had an IRL friend who got into one of these, I would pay her never to talk to me about it.

I used arbonne’s acne system through college and loved it. Then my arbone lady quit selling and I didn’t bother finding anyone else because I discovered OCM. Truthfully, I don’t know much about Arbonne so if some stuff works, that’s good to know. My friend who is selling is now has started wearing the makeup and it looks horrible and it’s not a selling point! I have mentioned before that I buy Arbonne protein from the most non-MLMer in the world. She doesn't have a group, tell people she sells, etc. She uses the protein herself so some of her gym friends order it from her too. I know nothing about other Arbonne products at all. But every so often, I run out of protein and I text her like, "can you still get me this?" And she does. No push to buy other stuff. No upsell. She just gets me what I need. I mean, she might suck at her job but I think she's the best.

This keeps getting weirder and weirder. It was weird when people bought them in the first place, because.... no. Even weirder to sell them. And now this. I feel bad for anyone who genuinely was hurt by it all but omg this stuff is so fug, and has been since the beginning. Have you seen the LLR bedazzled SUV around ? It's ...something No, but now I will be looking for it!

But I hate having to sneak around her office in the building so I don’t get guilted into buying some makeup I definitely don’t want. Or feeling “pressured” to buy from my SIL. If it was a situation like yours I think that works.

My Facebook BMB group is full of MLM sellers. They've started the whole "support your friends' small business for Christmas shopping". I've owned a real small business, and it's much more complex that selling overpriced crap
My breaking point was a woman who did a Hurricane Harvey fundraiser through her MLM, bit at the same time had tons of posts about how buying from her would help her reach her next promotion. It was so tasteless.
I get the desire to earn income as a SAHM, but they are so predatory.

Oh God. The "I'm a small business owner" claims. No. I've been unfriended over telling a couple people to shit their traps with that nonsense.
Edit:shit, shut. Whatever.

I think MLMs play really well into the weaknesses and thought patterns of desperate people. Particularly people drowning in debt. The only cure is education, media literacy, and some basic math lessons. Every MLM ever will crap out at level 13. The limit DOES exist. Well either debt or they play really well to the mommy guilt. "I used to work FT too. But I just couldn't stand knowing I was missing so much. Now I make more money and see my kids all the time "

......
Sooooooo, you might have seen I sell (fill in the blank crap I don’t need)”

NOPE. I got a message like this last year from a college acquaintance shilling Beach Body. She then goes "have you thought about a little "me time" and getting fit ? Us mommies need to take care of us too" It was the day after my marathon. My profile picture was my freaking medal. At least do a little looking over the profile first

Is this where I can bitch about Plexus? I loathe how they discourage business pages on Facebook. It's spreading through my contacts like mold spores. Do not want pink drink.
