Our Girl Scout troop is doing a Disneyland trip in June- 1 day Disneyland, 1 day downtown Disney. I just found out that of the 3 parents that signed up, I’m the only one that can stay the last night. And we would have 5 remaining girls including mine. 😫😫😫 Like, they are 10-11 years old so manageable, and it wouldn’t be the day at the actual park, but I was not expecting to be left with the bulk of the kids for the last 24 hours. One of the parents that wasn’t going may be able to come up that last night, so I’m hoping that happens. I mean, I will do it alone if needed, but gah. That would depend on the kids for me. Some of DD’s friends at that age would have been fine and I would not have cared. But others…I would not have wanted to be in charge of for a night by myself. Good luck😬

I wouldn't even consider being the only adult. How does that get arranged? Someone else needs to pull their weight.

We drove to some outlets about an hour away. I bought a bottle of blackberry brandy and my first pair of crocs. I’m excited about both. 😂

My kids have a PA day on Monday so I’m hoping to drive down to catch the eclipse. Its projected to be cloudy as of right now so we must cross our fingers.

I thought you needed a certain number of adults per a certain number of girls. (when I was a leader, times could have changed). I would not set myself up to be alone like that. We either get someone to help or change plans.

Any tips for comfort for new braces today? Kiddo is getting them and I know they're gonna be miserable about it. The appointment is at 9am of course, thanks XH. They might surprise you, DD has been a champ and she's decidedly NOT a trooper with medical stuff. Otherwise, motrin and let them get a cold treat they like. it was rough. Now they're fine and said it wasn't that bad and I'm like I'm sorry you gagged so hard so many times that you actually threw up and cried and we had to use nitrous

Someone just posted on the local FB page that the middle schools at least were working to get the kids eclipse glasses, so now that we have an early dismissal, those kids will be coming home with a pair of glasses and the school will be announcing this soon (letting people know since SO MANY people are posting looking for glasses). The number of posts of people saying 'why couldn't the school have told me this sooner, I just bought glasses' is, well, expected and annoying and has me shaking my head. Also, my glasses cost just over $1 a pair. Are we really freaking out over buying a few extras of these?

Pressure stabilized so home now with at home monitoring and strict instructions to go in at a certain level. Still looking at possible c-section next Thursday or Friday unless her pressures stay low which is not going to happen. She was happy to not be on bed rest though

Woke up to an inch or so of heavy wet snow on the ground and it's supposed to continue snowing through the afternoon. Good thing I hadn't yet packed away the snow gear yet. 🤪

It’s snowing hard here. I had to take the cat in for his meds in the snow with three kids.
You guys….we drove all of the way there and I forgot to bring the medicine!
We had to go back and get it….
It’s been a comedy of errors with H gone this week….

It’s like people we live in upstate NY this is not uncommon.

We've already gotten 4-5 inches and it's wet heavy stuff. We have power here so far but I'm not feeling optimistic it'll stay on and that school will be open tomorrow.

We’re in the path of totality and have a school holiday. Sounds like the roads are going to be bonkers, so we will probably just watch the eclipse from our house, if we can even see it with the cloud cover!

That'll show me. Ha. I'm just glad spring break is next week and not this week!

I had a long overdue haircut appointment this afternoon which I figured wasn't going to happen but the stylist just texted to ask if I can come in earlier so they can close early and thankfully I picked the closest salon just around the corner and I can walk over. Hopefully they don't lose power before then.

For us it's that it's at dismissal time. You can't release a few thousand kids and tell them not to look at the sun... cause that's what they'll do. So I'm sure the school is happy not to have the kids on the property. One district actually decided to keep the kids late haha. I mean, there were adults that couldn't figure out not to look at the sun.... {Spoiler}

I have no idea how much snow we have here. With the wnd blowing it looks shallow in some spots and deep in others. I have power at home but not work so not much of my work being done but still running around helping everyone else.

It's almost as if it should've been... rain.

They are sayings gusts to 50 but not sure we have hit that yet.

Whoever is keeping that list of reasons not to get a dog, here's another one:
This morning as I bent down to put a leash on the dog, he jumped up at the same time and head butted me so hard I think we both saw stars. I have a small goose egg (a robin's egg, maybe).

I wouldn't even consider being the only adult. How does that get arranged? Someone else needs to pull their weight. People signed up for the trip, and the other two didn’t say they weren’t staying the whole time till now. The trip isn’t till June so we have some time. It’s a midweek trip the week after school gets out, so tough for working parents. I get it. Another mom and her husband are going to drive up Wednesday and stay the one night! Girl Scouts dictates 2 adults have to be there anyway (I asked the troop leader), so we would have just ended the trip Wednesday if no one else could go.

I am glad that you found relief and that the troop leader was looped in. The leader should have made sure whoever signed up could commit to the whole time. I just wouldn't be left holding the bag in any event.

Maybe a dumb question...but why is traffic going to be terrible for the eclipse? Because of out-of-towners? We are getting to like 93%, not totality.

We have people coming in from all over the country because we'll have one of the longer times for totality. Someone tried to bring their entire 40+ person family reunion from California to our campus and we kindly suggested they find one of the other 15 events happening in the area.
