I don't generally like first person narratives but my favorite murder mystery series is written in first person. It works for this. Which one? The Alex Delaware series by Jonathan Kellerman. It's about a psychologist in California who solves murders with his friend who is a gay detective. The first one was published in 1985 and it shows, but it's a great series. Kellerman is a clinical psychologist. There's 30 some odd books and it's cool reading a series that spans that length of time with the same characters.

lol yes all those titles are the same. 😂 My H and I joke that new trendy restaurants are like this too. Herb & Wood, Salt & Straw… and now I can’t think of any more off the top of my head but they exist, I swear. We have a new place here called Pasta+Sauce. I can't make myself try it. Our review of a recent trip to denver is that anything with & in the name is either vegan or serves pork belly.

I had a margarita with dinner at 5:30 and came home and went to bed before 8:30. I don’t drink often and basically can only have a drink when I don’t have anything I have to do in the evening and go straight to bed.

We have a new place here called Pasta+Sauce. I can't make myself try it. What kind of food is it though? It's upscale Italian. The owner's last restaurant failed because it was too upscale for the area, so this one is supposedly dialed down a bit. Hence the hipster name.

Once I heard on the radio that everyone gets more genes from their mothers than fathers and that males in particular get even more from their mothers (mitochondria and X chromosome) and I shared that bit of information with my 6YO. Since then whenever my husband mentions the fact that he is half Korean and half white he always makes a point of saying he is a little more Korean than white because he got more of his genes from me than from my husband and I get such a kick out of it.

UO: I’m kind of over restaurant food right now. It’s expensive and it’s not many choices here. #ruralproblems My H is traveling for work and my mil asked if I needed her to spend the night to help. I made this face and not even sorry

My kid learning to read independently and enjoying it has been such a game changer. When my ds was like 12 and he finished all the Wings of Fire books and couldn't find anything else he wanted to read and basically stopped reading, I started reading out loud to him again, and I've been doing it ever since (he's almost 15 now) for just a short bit in the evenings. We mostly read adult books now, and I try to pick ones I've not read but that he would enjoy, and I really love reading with him. No pressure because we don't HAVE to do it (and he did start reading again on his own back there at some point when he found other stuff he liked again), just something he and I do together.

justbecause I’m in a city and restaurant food has gone down around here and it’s expensive and the portions are smaller. I get why this is happening but it’s making eating out not on the top of our list anymore and we love takeout and such

piratecat, I just started reading Dragon Rider to my kids and I really enjoy it. It's not gory and has a good story line (and is very much about dragons).

I've never 'met' anyone else who reads them!! 😁 I started the series over again a yearish ago because it had been so long since I read the early books and I haven't yet guessed the right culprit lol. Even though I've read them all before.

The Thrown of Glass series was only ok and Kingdom of Ash was not a weepfest. The FMC was annoying I know that’s neither super controversial or juicy but it seems like a bookstagram UO. Sorry I thought ACOTAR was boring and ACOMAF wasn’t much better, despite so many people insisting book 2 was worth reading book 1 for. People gush over those books but just not for me. However, I have trouble not finishing a series, so I may eventually go back and read the rest lol. I recently read all 5 books because I’d worked though most of my list and needed something. The storylines themselves were okay (some more than others) but if I never see “vulgar gesture” written again it would be okay with me

I fucking loved Ariana Grande’s cotton candy Oscar look.
I’m also loving her new album, the production is so good and she learned how to sing in English.

I think the Dragon Masters series is maybe better but I haven’t had to read any of them. Although I’m actually off to read a special edition book about all the characters because I lied and acted like I was interested in learning about the series. 😅 Haven’t read the thread, but my DD (8) is enjoying the Dragon Masters series. (She is dyslexic so these are a little below her grade level, but they are chapter books so reading them is a big deal for her right now.) My FFFC is that I am really upset with one of her friends who told her that they read a Dragon Masters book in like, an hour, because they’re so easy! I know that they are 8 and do not understand, but I’m a little amped up about it.

We have a restaurant called I heart Mac and cheese and I think that’s gotta be bad. I would go there because my kids love Mac and cheese and I don’t mind it either. I hate when we go out to eat and pay $8 for a kid’s meal and it’s Kraft Mac and cheese (but my kids will tell you it’s their favorite).

And the special edition book is pretty fun — I bet she would like it, too. Also, 8 seems like the exact target age group since that’s the age all the Dragon Masters start training or something (see, I learned so much today). We talk a lot about how everyone learns at their own pace and I would hate for him to say something like that and make someone feel badly.

So I had to infiltrate a local anti-socialist “patriot” page this week to address an awful Karen review. While some of the complaints were warranted, it was basically a blast without tagging in a random closed group with 10% of our local population. Yay rural county!!
So I did the polite and humble response and got a ton of support responses and then very quickly left the group, because my feed became a super maga rural county shit show.
Those people that aren’t awful know how to actually get a response without resorting to paragraphs on things I now can’t comment on after outing myself as part of this “Latin fusion” restaurant with flamboyantly LBGTQ+ staff and owners. 🙃
