UO I didn't think it was that big a deal. I think the coach just got startled, not that he was overly physically accosted or anything. He grabbed his arm to get his attention. And yes, coaches and players scream at each other sidelines all the time, grab at one another to get attention over the noise and chaos. This was pretty minor, tbh. And Usher did a fantastic job. Period. I’m here too. I went hunting on the internet because I assumed I missed something based on the dialog in this thread. They were in the middle of a critical play, it's noisy AF, and these are athletes we otherwise praise for being full of adrenaline and focused on winning. Fans and media need to pick a lane.

Football players being hot headed and yelling on the sidelines is not new. TO ME Andy Reid looked startled and that is why he jumped, not that Travis pushed him in such a way that he would fall down. Players throw helmets and punch ipads which I think is way more immature than Travis yelling. Andy Reid is pretty close with his players. On the grand scheme of how football players and professional athletes act during games, this is low on the scale for me. And this is the best. x.com/2008Philz/status/1756843844845412379?s=20Yeah Andy literally said he caught him off-guard which is why he jumped. He also said he loves it and appreciates his players wanting to get in. I feel like I’m missing something bc I watched it live at a party and we were all like, “oh shit, Travis wants to get in there, he’s fired up.” But no one was like, “oh shit, Travis is abusing his coach.”

I’ve typed and deleted many times because I don’t watch enough football so I’ll just agree to disagree But see that's the problem IMO. This was nothing to the more than casual-FB watcher. And yet those are not the people posting up a storm about it. And I don't think the feelings stem from any real outrage over a player grabbing his coach's arm.

I'll say this: if KC wins, he does not deserve to be on the stage lifting the Lombardi. I am so incredibly disgusted by him. His punk ass should have been benched. No matter what the outcome of this game is I want the narrative to be that he felt entitled to lay hands on his HEAD COACH. Yes! And the fact that the coach explained it away was something I have very little respect for Andy Reid. He has, at a minimum, no control over his players with all their tantrums and more than likely encourages their bad behavior. Look how he himself acted after the bills game. Not to mention keeping his son on staff while he was such a mess. No excuse for what Kelce did.

To say that a coach has no control over his players when they literally won the Super Bowl yesterday doesn't make a lot of sense to me. TBH.
He clearly has some control.

I don't see how Travis yelling about wanting to be in the game is having no control. I'm completely lost at some of this.

Keeping Andy Reid's children out of it because I don't want it to seem like I am defending those actions, football players throw tantrums every game. Right or wrong, there was nothing that different during this game, except that it was a much larger stage and everyone is looking for a reason to hate on Travis because of Taylor.
And football isn't the only sport where this happens. Tennis players smashing rackets, golfers breaking clubs, baseball players throwing their helmets in the dugout.

Keeping Andy Reid's children out of it because . I think we should just keep his kids and his parenting of them separate from this convo, in general. Burying a child, parenting an addict, it’s all really complex, sad stuff and plenty of people struggle with it and are still competent at their jobs (POTUS, for one). I don’t think it’s really relevant in the “is Andy Reid a good coach” convo, except as a cheap shot.

My stance has nothing to do with Taylor other than I don’t agree with Kelce. I don’t have any hate towards them.
Reid just based on past history would never admit Kelce was wrong even if he made him fall.
There’s no reason for your hands to be on your coach in a tantrum regardless. I don’t care if it’s the superbowl or pop warner. Control yourself enough to know not to do that. And this isn’t the first time Kelce has acted out this season.

I do think the fact it was Travis has a lot to do with it. Before I even opened this thread I already knew Taylor would be somehow brought into it too 🤣
That's why I asked last night where he pushed him, I thought I missed something. I dont love how they (players and coaches) sometimes act to be clear but it was pretty low on the tantrum pole

Slamming into the coach with his chest, grabbing his arm, almost knocking him down, screaming in his face before being pulled away and then throwing a helmet? It might not be unprecedented but it's absolutely unacceptable. I would say that no matter what player on what team, including the Eagles.

This behavior would not have been ok with basketball unless of course you are Draymond green but even he gets suspended

Tom Brady has thrown plenty of tantrums and everyone praised his "passion."
I see a clear bias that has nothing to do with the sport of football, and I'm pretty camped on that hill.
Of course the NFL sucks. So does the NBA.

I think the issue many are having is not just about Kelce but the use of aggression whether it be in sports or otherwise. We need to show our young people that when things don’t go their way or when they are frustrated that getting angry and then physical (even just a little) is not ok. We need to teach them that there are other better ways for dealing with these emotions. We should not be excusing such behavior as “passionate.”

There's a lot of behavior I dont like during football games but here we are only talking about Travis. And somehow Taylor is to blame for him acting shitty. I dont even care about their love story or talk about it this much IRL
