Geez, that was long. I also need to take down Christmas. Luckily I’m Catholic enough that I feel justified leaving it up through this Sunday, so I’ll take it down Monday when the kids are back in school. I’ve been working part time, and I was worried home stuff would suffer, but I think I’ve actually been more efficient with my time knowing I have less of it. Girl your tree can stay up- you don't need a religious excuse! Mine will be up til mid month, most likely. I know that because I'm not doing it this weekend. mine stays up until my birthday on January 19 😂. No religion necessary.

DD is campaigning for the basement tree to stay up all year. 🙂 (sorry for another basement mention!)

The Kirkland Signature Microwave Popcorn box is the perfect size for holding scrap paper. No more pile on the floor under my desk. {Spoiler}

Projects that's on the table -organize Caleb's closet (purge) -organize my upstairs hall closet (purge) -organize the downstairs hall closet (purge) -go through kitchen again
I already did a major kitchen purge but I want to go back now that months have passed and see what I still haven't used.

I just finished my clothes. I took everything out of my dresser, main closet, and guest bedroom closet (where I store my dresses and jumpsuits). I was pretty ruthless as it had been awhile and I was over capacity in my spaces (I had two drawers that were overflowing). Anything I wasn’t sure about I took the extra step to try on. That helped get rid of a couple things I had been holding on to that needed to go based on fit.
I got rid of a trash bag of clothes, a pair of boots, and a rain jacket. Some things were trash with holes, etc. I reorganized my drawers and moved my jeans onto a shelf in the closet which solves the overflowing drawer issue and makes more sense. I’m down to only using about a quarter of the guest room closet. Got all my clothes back on matching hangers.
I need to purge some bras but need to go shopping first to replace them.

I finally found a bra that I don’t hate, so I am going to purge a bunch of old ones and buy a few more of the winning one. (I don’t know if this goes here, but jaygee’s post reminded me.) I am between S/M in tops and sized down to S: Warner's Women's Easy Does It® Underarm-smoothing With Seamless Stretch Wireless Lightly Lined Comfort Bra Rm3911a a.co/d/aMU2a34

Nice idea! What are you working on this month? Ooh I think it will have to be going through the boys clothes again. I've actually started not saving much besides jackets because I hate having to go through the boxes of old clothes to see if anything fits and oftentimes it doesn't fit the next boy at the right season anyway or they don't like the style or whatever. Better to just give it away or sell and keep the boys wardrobes up to date and smaller. Unfortunately they never sort out pieces that don't fit. They always just leave them to rot in their dresser or come out in pants that are clearly way too small.Biggest challenge? I should get rid of some of my Christmas stuff but by the time I'm putting it all away I'm so over it and just throw it all on boxes and ignore the stuff that hasn't been used in years. Recent win/success to share? I barely got the boys any "stuff" for Christmas. They got some books but otherwise mainly practical stuff like a new computer monitor or video games that take up no room. The youngest got new gravitrax but they fit in the box for it he already has. i NEED to adopt this method. It would save me so much stress and storage.

agm04, just another vote/nudge for the adelbert method. I have 3 girls- the first two are only a year and a half apart and then there's almost an 8 year gap to the third. I'm clearly not storing things for 8 years. That meant only 1 child got hand-me-downs and that felt wrong. We wound up buying her almost as much in the interest of being fair and that totally defeated the purpose. We went to just keeping the really nice or expensive things and getting rid of the rest. Now that they are teens- they self-police passing down the clothes and do it way more than they did as kids.

You are all making me want to purge my closet, but I'm really good at the purging part and finding I regret it a couple of years later, so I'm trying not to...

You are all making me want to purge my closet, but I'm really good at the purging part and finding I regret it a couple of years later, so I'm trying not to... Is it because of size fluctuations? I’ve done that a few times and regretted. I started pulling out things that I like that don’t fit right now but are only within a size (maybe two if I realllly love it) and put them in a vacuum bag to store. Then if I go up or down and fit in them again I still have them and don’t have to repurchase.

We were able to get the basement decluttered and organized yesterday. I had tackled a lot already but needed H for some critical decisions. I was almost certain he would be up for getting rid of a couple of suitcases (one of his grandmas and one of his) and it made a big difference getting those out. We were finally able to get the holiday bins all on one side in the order or the holiday order (H’s dream. lol). We’ll have even more room once the Cub Scout stuff is gone.
We had a huge box of trash and I have been busy the last day and a half getting rid of stuff on buy nothing.
Today I got Christmas put away since we needed to put the trees out for recycling tomorrow.
Feeling like I got a ton done on my week off and looking forward to starting the year with less projects.

I decided I'm starting with decluttering food, medical and computer first.
Decluttering the kitchen from food. Not tossing much except expired but organizing and making a list of everything. Then eating off of only that list except perishables in small grocery orders for as long as possible. That might be needful of a different thread when I ask what would you make when you only have cauliflower and oatmeal left? Ha
Then I'm decluttering the files, papers, receipts and such to be ready for tax filing.
medical im going thru otc and old rx but more than that. I have a dr visit that the numbers don't line up so get to the bottom of that. which means finding online or paper receipts for what I already paid snd double ck what they charged is what insurance says I owed.
In that medical Stuff I'll need to Figure out which pharmacy I can actually get my meds for cheapest. I have meds that can't be 3 months at a time from express scripts mail order so express scripts says I can use this one small grocery store pharmacy. But I don't wanna have to change pharmacies again. Shouldn't have to do that every single year.
Then it's decluttering one drive and digital presence and cleaning up my computer. I have so much stuff on that thing.
By then maybe it won't feel so anxious and dark in my mind with that clutter and closer to spring at my house. And I'll feel better for gardening or whatever outside.
And the garage. Its my arch nemesis since it's mostly dhs domain.

I put a box of chocolate milk boxes from Costco about 2/3 full on my buy nothing group and it was one of the most popular things I’ve put on there lol. I am also trying to purge food. There’s so much stuff in our pantry/freezer we’ll never eat.

Food always is popular but right now its crazy

We’re not really in a position to waste food or anything, but my kids always act like they want certain things and then never eat them. Stuff like corn dogs and cereal. I don’t know why they won’t eat them because corn dogs and cereal are delicious lol. Kids.

I have been doing well with not letting post-holiday blahs keep me glued to the couch. (I mean, I’m doing some of that, in the name of #selfcare, but I know from past experience that it can exacerbate my winter blues.) Have been tackling bite-sized projects as they come up, and that seems to be working for me. Most recently, hanging some robe hooks in the kids’ rooms and guest room that I’ve had forever; cleaning out and tidying guest bathroom cabinet and drawers; tidying our upper-upper kitchen cabinets (only accessible with a stool) as I put away Xmas kitchen stuff in them.
I decided to go ahead and take down Xmas today, because I’m glorying in being home alone in my house at last after several weeks! I got the outdoor stuff done this morning in advance of some bad weather, and celebrated with hot cocoa and a little TV time.
I made a list (taped it to the top of the outdoor storage tote) of which timers I used, where they are, where I put suction cups and extension cords, etc. I’m hoping Future Me appreciates it, because every year I spend a stupid amount of time trying to remember what I used and where I put it. 😅
Now tackling indoor!

We are going to have a bunch of people in town for my H's memorial, so I need to buckle down and do a bunch of little projects I have been putting off. I am going to rent one of those Bagster things from Home Depot over the weekend and clean out a bunch of stuff in the garage that my H was hanging on to that I now feel comfortable getting rid of. I need to re-organize my dining room built-ins and I have all of the stuff I just need to actually do it. Might invite a friend over this weekend and have an organizing party.
