Replying to this from Jamaica. We’re really enjoying the all inclusive hotel we’re at as a family. I’d never been to Jamaica at all, but it’s beautiful and the people are really welcoming. I'm dying to know if you are at the resort I acciddntally spent 3 weeks at

I know Disney World planning gets talked about a lot. Does someone recall off hand a good, general all purpose Disney World thread as a place to start?

We are planning a trip to Lego Land.
Not super glamorous but the kids are pumped.

I wish we had a big trip planned but, alas. I am hoping maybe 2025 will be our year.
The last week of March we are going to the Berkshires for "spring break" but I am guessing it will be snowy. So cozy fireplace time. In July we do a long weekend camping trip with my H's family; this has been tradition for a few years now. We are sending DS to Disney in August with his aunt and cousins. I am so excited he gets to go, even if we couldn't swing it as a family trip I know he will have a great time.
I want to try to get in a long weekend in the fall somewhere driveable, maybe another cabin camping trip. It's so hard with the dogs.

Has anyone been to a Sloomoo Institute? We will be trekking to NH later this summer and were thinking of doing an overnight-ish in NYC. It will be right before my slime OBSESSED DD1's 11th birthday. Our girls haven't been to NYC before.

MH surprised me with a getaway to Portland, OR for our anniversary so now I have a trip to east coast and west coast Portland on the horizon 😂

Our girls haven't been to NYC before. I just took DD2 (8YO) to the one in Houston. She loved it. My kiddo loves slime—knows all the kinds, constantly finding new slime people on YouTube, wants to buy all the fancy slime they sell, etc. She had a great time. I got her the enhanced “get slimed” experience and that wasn’t as big of a hit as I expected…YMMV.

Why don’t you think she liked it?

Last year, I did a two night/one day trip to Disney World, and I think I'm going to do it again in April with DS.
I feel bad pulling him from school for two days (and we've already had him miss school for two different family vacations this school year)...but also life is short and he's in his last year of elementary when it feels easier for him to skip school.

byjove at first it was bc she thought it would get in her eyes and hair, so I explained they cover you all up so no worries. Then when we got to that area she realized you’re on display a bit and they kinda make a big deal about it…and she doesn’t enjoy being the center of attention. She did it, but it was not fun for her.

This is the same for my DD. She’s gone to the one in NYC a couple times for friends’ birthdays. She always declines to get slimed but has fun watching her friends, and otherwise loves the whole thing. But she is also the kid who does not want to sing or dance in a school concert/ show. Was a hard no in participating in the talent show, etc.

I have a flight credit I need to use before March 4th, so I’m trying to find something fun and a flight away to do in February. I really thought we had used it already, but I guess I used points and not the credit. Any recs for a long weekend from Houston are welcome! And my sister and I decided that we want to take our mom to Maine for her 60th birthday in May, so I need to plan for that too. You may have already decided on something, but when we lived in Houston we would take an annual quick weekend to Puerto Vallarta. It was a quick flight (under 2 hours), and we’d just taxi to the Marriott that was about 5 minutes from the airport. The marina is a close walk too, so we’d wander there in the evenings.

AnnPerkins we will officially be in Cleveland early July! We are going to Cedar Point July 3rd. For as much of the day as my extended family can last without getting kicked out. 🥴 We will also be pretty free the 7/8/ morning of the 9 before we fly out, if you or anyone else is interested in meeting up. http://instagram.com/p/C5cFt1UA-rA

MH and I will be going to Door County in late July. We've never been and I'm really excited to see the "New England of the Midwest" since I know going back to Maine this year isn't in the cards.
We'll also likely do a long weekend in the Smokies and another up in South Haven/Sagautuck.
We also have to start planning our 20th anniversary trip - two years from now. We had talked about Hawaii or the Caribbean but I've convinced MH we should go to Europe - England/Ireland/Scotland instead.

We booked 2 weeks in Japan in August. We would have preferred to do it at Christmas but the flights were crazy expensive then so August it is. I’m not looking forward to the heat but otherwise I’m super excited. We’re not telling DS until we get to the airport, he’s going to lose his mind since it’s his biggest dream to go there.

I'm glad this thread was resurrected. We were thinking about a long weekend in October or early November. Driving distance from Philly- my top contender right now is Shenandoah but I always have trouble committing. I'd like a cabin that would accommodate the dogs too.

I had to rearrange our summer trip due to an unforeseen schedule change but it has all worked out. 4 nights in Vienna and 4 nights in Prague. It will be my first time to either city and I'm super excited!

We are going to the Scottish Highlands in July (staying on Loch Ness!) then to Edinburgh and finally London. We are attending a wedding on the coast while there.
A british wedding! With hats!

We just got back from our family trip there on Friday. We started in South Korea and visited Seoul then went to Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo, and Tokyo Disney. We loved everything and for as much as I don't like to repeat destinations, I would 100% go back if given the chance.

After flying to Colorado for spring break the teenager said our next trip should be a road trip. We're thinking the Smokies in August - is it going to be miserably hot then or is that an ok time to go?
Ignoring their road trip preferences, their suggestions for future trips have been California (bit too far of a drive from WI), and Greece.
Has anyone been to Greece? Do you recommend a cruise?

We’re planning on going to Universal one day and hitting up a lot of Pokémon centres If your budget allows, buy the express passes! We didn’t and rode 3 rides all day because everything was a 2+ hours wait. And we were there on a rainy Tuesday. There’s not enough rides or shows to disperse the crowds so everyone waits in the lines. Luckily, our girls had never been to US Universal parks and were happy to walk around, watch parades, and cast spells in Harry Potter, but definitely feel like we missed out a bit on the rides.
