A few things that have been stuck in my brain:
1. The staunch denial of rape on October 7 makes me upset. There are demands for ‘proof’ and I’m like, what? I don’t need proof beyond testimony and everything else I’ve seen/read because I know how women are universally treated. I absolutely believe rape occurred. I don’t think every person part of the infiltration participated in that type of violence, but to deny that is occurred at all is gross to me.
2. Western ways of thinking and concepts of race are being applied to this conflict and I think it’s doing a lot of harm.
3. There’s an obsession with being ‘right’ at the expense of the truth. It’s exhausting and unproductive. People are so hell bent on their provocative takes that they throw away their humanity and diminish their cause in the process.
4. I’m over people taking the absolute worst examples of things said/done and acting like that represents entire groups.
5. Everything that’s written in Arabic being seen as Hamas related or hate speech is insane. Islamophobia runs deep. Islamic fundamentalism is real, and a problem, but I’m so sad to know that people think that’s what Islam is as a whole. There’s so much beauty in the Islamic faith.
6. I consume media from both ‘sides’ because it gives me a rounded understanding of information. Propaganda is intense and so easy to believe. I catch myself sometimes in a trance of sorts and I have to shake my head and look at other sources to clarify things I read. A lot of folks aren’t doing this. It’s something that’s really been brought into focus for me the last 7 weeks. Social media is powerful, and that scares me a bit. It is both a vital tool but also not our friend.
7. I have a lot of dread about the ‘ceasefire’ ending. It feels like the limbo from hell and we’re waiting to watch a further descent into the depths again.

Palestinian arrests in the West Bank match or surpass prisoner releases with the hostage swap every day. The violence also continues, 8-year-old Adam al-Ghoul and 14-year-old Basel Abulwafa were killed yesterday, video shows them running away as they’re shot.

I saw this morning that the truce "collapsed." Collapse was the word used by one of those who helped negotiate the truce. Thr article also said Blinken warned Israel that the destruction cannot coninue, but I don't know if the U.S. will actually stand behind that, given that rockets are being fired into Israel, too. (I am not equating the firepower of the two, just sharing.) www.bbc.com/news/live/world-middle-east-67584895

I can’t handle any more videos of children in the West Bank being detained. Their friends desperately trying to save them both warms my heart and breaks it.

Where are they supposed to go? And now they are attacking South Gaza, which was previously where they were told to go. It's a smokescreen and an excuse. "Well, we told them to leave, so it's not our fault."

We're right back at the beginning, telling people to leave knowing fuck well they can't/have nowhere to go.

athn64 Exactly. It's cover for when a good portion of people around the world get (rightfully) angry about innocent civilians being killed.

Sickening. for arguments sake, even if it didn’t meet the criteria for genocide…why are we expected to be okay with it? Like wtf. Millions of people being slaughtered and displaced is universally bad.

I’ve been learning and consuming about all the other genocides happening too. There’s so much darkness in our world. I want everyone free. Impossible to look away from it all. 😔

My heart breaks for Bisan who is just out here trying to spread awareness.

All the goodbye posts from journalists are so upsetting to read. Bisan and Motaz’ last posts/stories are so sad. They sound like legit goodbyes. I don’t know how they’ll make it out alive tbh. You can tell they are being targeted from some of their stories. It’s all unfair.

Aw man, I misunderstood Motaz and thought he arrived in Rafah and was possibly able to cross. He was just escorting a colleague and family to the border. I know many don’t want to leave, but I can’t imagine wishing you could and having to stay because you aren’t a dual national with papers.

Motaz posted from his bed to show how close the IDF is to his location, (I think his grandmas house). It’s pitch black. The bombing/gunfire sounds like it’s right outside his window. I feel sick. How many kids have known that fear before being killed so far?

Carolers approached POTUS at a tree lighting event singing, “Biden Biden, you can’t hide. We charge you with genocide.” www.tiktok.com/t/ZT85Xhmjy/

My kufiya finally arrived in the mail yesterday. I ordered it from Hirbawi, the last/only factory in Palestine.
It doesn't feel like much, if anything really. I just want them to know someone in the US supports them, their livelihood and their right to freedom. 🇵🇸

I’m struggling today with putting on my game face for holiday stuff when all I can think about are those in Gaza being murdered as I sit here. I know not enjoying my family won’t change anything. But fuck. The video I saw today, one of many at this point, of a father being pulled away from his bundled up dead toddler baby is haunting me. I sincerely can’t understand people who don’t support Palestinians anymore.

We’ve read books about Palestine and talked about the Holy Land, Judaism and Islam. I’m dreading ‘celebrating’ tomorrow.

Also, I have to get this off of my chest: Jesus was not Palestinian. I’m seeing it everywhere but it makes zero sense and irks me. I’ve tried telling myself it’s coming from a place of finding commonality or something but it’s revisionist and inaccurate. I’m pro-Palestine until I die but I think this drives further divide.

I'm seeing this from Palestinian friends and some of the Palestinian voices on social media. I, too, am confused by this.
