I had been sorta thinking about making a thread about all the barbie look alike outfits MR and others have been wearing. There are a lot! But I am swamped and my procrastination won't let me procrastinate that much... though I have reorganized two cabinets that had been needing it for a year

The marketing of the Barbie movie is amazing. If Peaches and Cream Barbie‘s outfit shows up, can someone post? That and Ice Capades Barbie were my idea of glamorous way back when.

I had a lime green spandex mini skirt and off the shoulder top and if I had had long hair 100% I'd have totally cosplayed totally hair barbie!

OMG the laugh I just burst out. (Loved asteroid city, btw) We took DS1 to see Asteroid City last week and we all LOVED it. The only other people in the theater definitely didn’t know what it was before buying tickets and BOY were they confused. Their commentary was hilarious.

We've been going through it with DD1 the last week or so, with a full blown mental health crisis Saturday and our first ER visit for mental health. It seems to be all fallout of a new ADHD medication she'd been trialing, that made her sleep 15-16 hours a day with ZERO appetite, and we thought we'd figured it out with a mini dose at bedtime, but she lost it again last night- like nonstop moving, irritability, doing weird things, etc. that started right at bedtime and it took her hours to get settled. I am tired. Yesterday had been a good day and I thought we had a plan, but now we don't. Our psychiatrist has been helpful, but I don't think he entirely knows the answer at this point either. She's failed every ADHD medication.
Yesterday he was very supportive of her still going to sleep away camp in 2.5 weeks (which she really wants to do). We were feeling good about it, but now I don't know. My heart is heavy.

byjove, I'm so sorry. I hope you find a solution soon. In case it hasn't been suggested by her mental health team, and I know insurance doesn't usually cover it, but can you do genetic match testing with ADHD meds so she won't have to trial so much? My psych NP was about to recommend it when I was failing so many psych med trials.

The psych suspects she's a slow metabolizer.

My psych NP was about to recommend it when I was failing so many psych med trials. We are actually waiting for the results on it, though we've been told it may a bit limited in usefulness. The psych suspects she's a slow metabolizer. DS1’s results showed he only ideally metabolized one med that is not super effective for adhd. We have found a good combination of meds to treat his ADHD and anxiety and both are “moderately metabolized”. His MD (who manages his meds) said as long as we are conservative with his dosing he’s fine. It turns out he doesn’t ideally metabolize many, many meds, not just psych meds. He takes guanfacine ER and citalopram. We have to play with the dosing to get desired results. Last year he was definitely getting more impulsive, so we increased his guanfacine but then he got very depressed. So back down on the guanfacine and up on the citalopram, he’s been good for a year. I hope you get some insight that guides your DD’s medications.

I hope you get some insight that guides your DD’s medications. The intuniv also caused significant depression at a very small dose for DD. She's also on celexa, she's maxed out the dose this year and she could still use improvement, so the psychiatrist is probably going to move her to prozac, but waiting for the results first. She's actually always tolerated the celexa well, and we saw improvement at just 2.5 mg when we first started. But after this year even 20 mg is meh. It's so much to put them through!

byjove it is so much to put them through. It’s amazing when the right combination works and heartbreaking when it doesn’t. I really hope you get some good guidance from the test results.

Not sure if you guys have heard about this: bookriot.com/kirk-cameron-public-library-events-august-5/But they started booking rooms in my library system. So I planned a full day program for that day. PSA: That said, if you can, book your local library's meeting room for that day for some kind of meeting or activity.
