Toddler had his 3y well check this morning and I asked about COVID boosters. She said, Great question! But there are no doses available for his age group anywhere in the metro area. She wants them for her kids too.

She wants them for her kids too. That's so dumb, ugh. I managed to find one public health location in town on Fridays and one an hour away (where we got the original Moderna shots) but it's really slim pickings.

We just got back from traveling and DH must have brought in my car stash of masks with all our other stuff because I couldn't find one when I went to Target last night. Thankfully it wasn't busy and I tried to avoid other people. Then when doing self check out the woman next to me asks if I think it's hot in there. Because she's just getting over covid and always feels hot now 🤦🏻♀️ Really hoping "getting over covid" means she was past the contagious stage but I have no faith in people.

I'm gearing up to have the school mask conversation with my girls. It's not going to go over well, but hopefully they'll be more accommodating than I think. School was the one place we slacked on masks this fall, mostly because I knew no one was going to hold them accountable for wearing them once out of my car. They really resist, too, on long wear now that they're both in eyeglasses.

Even with the wire in the nose bridge, I can't get a tight enough seal around their little faces to keep from fogging up. So frustrating.

We were using Stark's masks with my 4yo glasses wear-er, but I'm not sure if those are "enough" anymore. Probably better than nothing though

Every time I think I cannot possibly have any more pandemic fatigue, I am proven wrong. Numbers are going up here again (like just about everywhere else, I imagine) and no one gives a damn. So, so tired.

cakewench I feel you. I'm honestly getting to a point where I don't see where we can get ourselves out of this mess. And normally I'd classify myself as an eternal optimist. 😕 At the very least I figured we'd science our way out of this endless loop somehow, but with covid also attacking the brain and making everyone dumber...

My aunt and uncle who are 86 and 87 both have Covid. They were in town staying with another aunt for Christmas. On their way home Monday they stopped at the casino. Symptoms started Thursday. Rapid was negative but luckily their doc got them in on Monday. She did a regular test which came back positive. My uncle has a pretty bad cough. He isn’t in the greatest health so I am really worried about him. 🥺

My mom is still recovering from covid, but now she also has tonsillitis (which she got while here at my house, from me and the kids 🤦🏻♀️). She isolated well, and I was the only one to go in to her room, with a mask, for a couple of minutes at a time just to take her food. These dumb viruses can stop now, universe!

The baby got his bivalent booster today. The person administering the shot, who I assume is a pharmacist, was not the most skilled and the baby was an angel up until the shot went in and freaked out and managed to knocked the needle out of his leg. She said it all went in but I don’t know. The nurses are usually so fast with the shots that by the time the kids realize they’ve been stuck they’re already done. But this place was also the only place I could find with Moderna booster so I just hope he got enough of the dose.

My youngest is home today with strep. It's sad that a strep diagnosis is almost a relief since it's easily treated. Now we just have to hope our pharmacy has the antibiotics.
The doctor at urgent care said even they can't get tylenol or ibuprofen. Thankfully we had one of each on hand already and it's not expired 😬
