I am walking around like a zombie today. DD3 decided that she was very unhappy from 11:45-1:45 last night for no reason I could tell. She would cry, I would get up to see what was wrong, stumble back to bed, just be falling asleep again, and then she would scream again, jerking me awake. Rinse and repeat about 15 times.
Also, the temp dropped about 30° (F) in the last two days. The high today and tomorrow is in the low 60s and it's supposed to rain pretty much non-stop until Wednesday.
I'm *really* starting to look forward to our trip to the US in a few weeks. I've started to make all of my vast lists for what to pack in which bags, what snacks to buy / make / pack, etc.

crimsonandclover yay for trips home. And boo for cold and raining in July. Our day temps have been very pleasant but it's been in the 50s at night which is great for sleeping but terrible for warming up the lake.

My H took a page out of nellieoleson 's H's book last night and turned into the energizer bunny. I mean, no complaints given our history, but in the middle, I had two thoughts--ok, enough already, and this is what Nellie was talking about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

crimsonandclover, yay for your trip! Could dd3 be teething? Mine has been waking super early and I think it's due to canines coming in. lol to your mid-romp thoughts copperboom. And yeah, heck no to energizer bunny husbands. Ain't nobody got time for that these days!

My oral surgery is today. I just want this over with already. Is it terrible that I'm hoping I can use this to spur some weight loss and get myself back on track? I've had zero motivation yet really upset with my weight. I'm getting desperate. 😪

I hope the surgery goes well scorpioscuba ! I don't think it's horrible at all to use it to get back on track. Just don't do what I would do and go straight for the ice cream :-)

Best wishes for your surgery, scorpioscuba! It's cool here too. It's not too bad but it's cloudy and humid so it feels like fall. DD had her 18mo appointment last week. Girlfriend is finally walking, but not quite 20lbs. Also, her fontanelle(sp?) hasn't closed. Anyone else?

It's cool here today, but so goddamn humid. I'm ready for fall. Bring me leaves changing, sweaters, and football! *avoids pitchfords* crimsonandclover Yay for your trip, but I cannot imagine a plane ride with 1, let alone 3, small children. scorpioscuba Good luck with your surgery. I've been supposed to get my wisdom teeth out for, oh I don't know, 10 years now. They bother me and they need to come out, but I just cannot willingly make myself go see the oral surgeon. Just trucking along here. J has been really surprising us lately with his sudden ability to follow simple directions and his babbling is actually starting to make some sense. It's fun. I had to put my 10 year old cat to sleep last week. It was sudden and I had no idea when I took her to the vet on Tuesday that she was apparently dying. I didn't know what was wrong with her, but I absolutely did not expect that. I'm sad and I miss her. She's been my little buddy since college, before I met DH and had this house with this little family. It kind of makes me never want to get another pet ever again. I keep looking at my dog like you better just KOKO because that really fucking sucked.

silverspoon - so sorry about your kitty. It's so hard. We had to put down my super adored cat, Cleo, when dd1 was 6 months old. I had also had her since college, and she had been through everything with me. Every boyfriend, every move up and down the west coast, every heartbreak, all the way up to settling down with H, and starting our family. Losing her was so so sad, but I was glad I had dd1 there as a distraction and to cuddle. I had no desire to get another pet for a long time, but I'm starting to miss having a cat around. I still hesitate because 1) do not want to deal with any more poop in my life and 2) I'm afraid a new cat could never compare to how lovely and sweet my Cleo was. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

silverspoon. - did you go on your vacation? How did it go? Wasn't there some crazy long car drive involved? As much as taking kids on plane sucks, I still think it's better than being stuck in the car with them. At least you can get up and move around somewhat, hold them, and get them snacks etc on a plane. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Oh yes, we did the 14 hour drive to Hilton Head, SC a few weeks ago. It was awful, but not as awful as I anticipated. The tablet and Bubble Guppies videos were the saving grace of helping little dude keep his cool. I would occasionally pop back into the backseat and hang out with him. We also stopped frequently to let him run around. I think I'd rather that and be stuck in a car with him, then be stuck on an airplane with him and other people. The vacation was lovely. As I expected he'd rather hang out in the pool, but we didn't drive 14 hours to hang out in the pool. He did like playing in the sand, but he would vote to pass on the ocean.

Tornado warnings and storms coming in from 2 different directions. It was a little scary. We had the opposite wit M's fontanelle. It closed early, so we had to go to the head shape clinic and there was a concern that her head growth would stall or slow down. It didn't, but it was a stressful few months.

Nice to see you silverspoon. The LT was for your kiddo. I'm so sorry about your kitty. It's especially hard to lose a pet that's been with you through so much. I'm glad you had a nice vacation. I cannot imagine driving 14 hours with the LO. I'm glad you survived. I haven't been to hilton head but I hear it's beautiful.

I took four different 2 hour drives with them recently and even that felt super long! My ILs want us to go to the Redwoods with them next year, but it would be a 6 hour drive each way, and I'm not sure I really want to deal with it. It sounds exhausting. I'm glad everything turned out fine with M, lollipop. A has been determined to grow/develop at her own rate since the beginning. There has always been something that's needed keeping an eye on but it hasn't led to anything serious yet so I'm not too worried. I'd be okay with it if she got a bit more on track with her peers.

scorpioscuba, good luck on your surgery! I missed what you are having done, but take it easy and sleep at lot. Don't blame you for thinking of it as a jump start to get back on track. I have the same thought any time I catch a stomach bug

scorpioscuba, I don't know about the teeth. My DDs have all been very late teethers. DD3 just got all of her other teeth besides canines and second molars in a huge long spurt from mid-April to mid-June (I think she ended up getting 10 teeth in 10 weeks or something like that?). So I think it's too early for the canines to be coming in already for us. But who knows. If she starts screaming in the MOTN again, I will probably give her some Ibuprofen just to see if it works.

Um... I wrote that post and then posted it a few hours later, and you guys got chatty in the meantime. scorpioscuba, I hope your surgery goes well! silverspoon, I'm so sorry about your kitty. Losing animals is so hard. And about the flying, you are right. We wanted to skip flying back this year because DD3 is at a truly awful age for long-haul flights, but my mom was so heartbroken about it that I gave in (she wasn't manipulative about it). This time we have a 1.5 hr flight then will stay the night at a hotel and have the long flight the next morning, so it's broken up a bit. And what I always tell myself is that it's only around 24 hours door to door. Even if she screams the whole way, it's only 24 hours. A few years ago we had horrible flight where DD2 screamed for 5 hours, then as soon as she stopped screaming, DD1 puked and got a fever and puked again when we were landing. Lots o' fun. Whenever anyone says they're flying to Europe (from the US) with their young kids for vacation just because, I look at them like they've grown two heads. I would never ever do it if it weren't the only way to see my family and friends and have the DDs get a bit of US life and culture.

scorpioscuba I would totally use that as an excuse to jump start the diet. Probably not the best advice, but the truth. I am *almosf* packed for vacation? Maybe? I've vacuumed, washed clothes, put clothes in the suitcase, now I just need the toiletry selection and any more cleaning I can get done is a bonus. I need opinions. We've basically decided how we are handling it, but I'm curious others thoughts and can't ask too many people. Yesterday dd1 stepped on the dogs tail, she got down to apologize and the dog bit her on the lip before running away. They've had some interaction now and both are hesitant, but we are working on it. Dd1 went to the doctor, got very precautionary antibiotics and is basically fine. If this happens again obviously we have a problem. How concerned would you be at the moment? I feel just sick about this. She's old, 10, and definitely slowing down so the kids are a lot for her, but generally she stays to the side of the action. Ugh dizzycooks, I'm sorry, that's so tough. Others might not agree, but for me the answer would be very much "it depends." Is that completely out of character for the dog or is she starting to be overwhelmed by the kids more regularly? Was it a minor step on the tail or something that really surprised and hurt the dog? Basically, are you pretty confident it won't happen again? Is the dog comfortable being separated from the family if she needs a break sometimes? I'm sorry. My dog is my first baby and I would feel sick about it too.

dizzycooks I'm stuck with tinydancer on the "it depends" train. It wasn't an unprovoked bite, but with small children you can never guarantee something won't provoke a similar response again. I don't know what I would do. I think I would try to keep their interactions as minimal as possible until I felt I couldn't manage the situation safely for the kids or the dog anymore. Once that point is reached I believe I would probably euthanize. I don't think I would put a senior dog through rehoming (or trying to if you could even find anyone to take her).
