I’m very attracted to Mr Russell. He has the energy I like when it comes to his wife and family. Same. I'm just now finishing the second episode but I'm here for it.

I liked this episode! More of the downstairs stories, please.
Actually, I think I like the after-episode interviews more than the show itself, but I'm still hopeful for what the show could be.

I'm still really enjoying it. I did think Bertha's one outfit (trip to see Clara Barton) looked a bit loose around the waist but there was good reason.

I haven't watched the episode yet but this is one of the main reasons I started watching this show in the first place:

I liked last night’s episode. I still don’t find it as compelling as a lot of shows, but I was entertained, which is all I ask in this panorama.

I don’t trust Mr. Raikes. It seems like they’re hinting at a possible friendship/more with Young Mr. Russell for Marian, which seems preferable (and also fraught with drama, win-win).
I thought the butler side plot seemed far-fetched, but it made for good theater. Even if he didn’t know that Marian was invited, I would think he could’ve guessed the Fanes would be there, and surely would know him. It was farcical, but in a Downton Abbey way.

I love it so much. It was my favorite movie in 8th grade (clearly I was very cool).

The aunt because he is new money, obviously; the Russells may accept her for the old society connections, but maybe not if he shucks off his continuation of the empire to become an architect and they see her supporting him in that.

I felt like we were really starting to get into the story at the end of Episode 8, and now only one more episode this season. Naturally.

I don't love Mrs. Russell's character but I am fascinated by her voice. Suuuuuper late to this party (I just started ep 1 last night), but SAME! I looked her up because I knew it sounded familiar but I couldnt place her - she's Proxima Midnight in Infinity War/Endgame.

More and more I think the name Raikes is deliberate. Mr. Raikes is a rake, he just hasn't completely outed himself yet.
I hope the last episode is extra long. I have questions.

She was also in the newest Ghostbusters. Just caught up finally. I was saving a bunch to view at once. I'm glad they didn't drag the courtroom storyline out too far.

I didn't think the finale felt quite like a finale, but I'm definitely ready for the next season.

I agree that it didn’t feel super finale like but was enjoyable either way.
I’m glad the marriage didn’t work out. I feel so sad for Peggy. How absolutely devastating and shocking to find all of that out. What does her dad have so against widowed mothers? It’s not like it is a scandal. She was married and the guy died. She wasn’t living in sin.

I am also confused about why Peggy’s dad would do that. I thought maybe it was because she was lying about being married, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I thought the commentary afterward by the actors, about the motivations of the characters, was insightful:
1) Peggy actress (sorry, too lazy to Google ATM) said that her father was motivated by spending half his life as a slave, and feels like he’s worked too hard for his family to have anything place them lower than he feels like they should be. (Or maybe the father actor said that part? Sorry, I was tired!)
2) Audra McDonald said Peggy’s mom is motivated to help Peggy by the collective trauma of generations of black mothers having their babies taken… the ongoing pain of that.
3) Raikes actor said that he truly loves Marian and wanted to marry her, but was too swept up in the NY glamour. I can kind of see that; he just seems like a very weak man to me. But maybe he played him a little *too* sleazy, If so many of us were rooting against him. And I couldn’t figure out why he would push her so hard if he planned to stand her up?
I remember when Downton Abbey first came out, there were many PBS Masterpiece purists/snobs who were so obsessed with the criticism, “It’s too soap opera!” Which, sure, it was, but that’s a large part of the reason it was hugely popular. (We could’ve done without at least one of the prison sagas, though. Those poor Bateses.) I feel like GA is trying to lean into soap opera the last couple episodes instead of fighting it, which is good. Give us the drama! Overall, it was not especially compelling to me, but I’d watch S2 just for the sets and costumes.
I did love the accidental reveal of Mr. Russell’s stenographer as the traitor by Marian. That was clever.
I missed the whole subplot of the bald guy on the Russell staff. I know he encountered that woman on the steps, and then again at the ball, but If there was more than that, I didn’t pay attention. I assume it’s setting up for next season.
