CestLaVie, +1 to tinted moisturizer. I use Nars and I love it when I don't want full coverage makeup. It just kind of evens my skin out without looking like I have a ton of makeup on. Plus it has spf 30.

Pizzaslut, 45thparallel, yes that sounds like what I need! Did not even know that was a thing. I did end up buying the Voluminous in carbon black yesterday and I really like it! So that's a win.

CestLaVie I love the UD Perversion mascara. I also love Tarte Amazonian clay mascara.

I have a gift card I'd like to use soon, and I'm having trouble deciding what to get! I need a new mascara, but not sure what else. So, help me make up guys! This pic is me with just mascara on, so pretty much my everyday look. I was considering an eyebrow pencil maybe? Color correction stuff? Do I need blush? I've got a million lip products, as well as the naked3 palette, which I use and love. I feel so un put together.

mommabakes, your skin looks fabulous! The only thing I could think of is maybe a brow pencil/filler and maybe blush? I'm a fan of blush in the pink family.

Thanks Pizzaslut Is the $$ eyebrow stuff worth it, or should I just grab a cheapie from Target?

Thanks Pizzaslut Is the $$ eyebrow stuff worth it, or should I just grab a cheapie from Target? I really like the NYX one! And I agree with blush. You have really nice skin and adding a blush and/or highlighter really make you glow! My usual morning routine is light contour, highlight, mascara, and blush and it's not dramatic I just look a lot more awake haha.

mommabakes, I've done both. I do like the Anastasia Brow a little better but you can't beat the NYX deal. I got it at target on sale for like $7!

Anyone have any YouTube/Instagram makeup tutorial people they love? I'm fairly clueless, but want to improve!!!

I do powder blush. I haven't tried cream blush. Is that for more if you do all over color and need to blend more?

mommabakes, I love Benefit brow kit for me. I used to use Anastasia brow powder, but I like the way the pencil actually looks more natural on me. If you are looking for skin stuff, maybe a highlighter? Becca makes really good ones.

I’m a million years behind but mommabakes your skin is beautiful. I agree with others, brows and blush. If you wanted some evening out a tinted moisturizer could be something for days you’re feeling extra - but absolutely not needed!. With your skin a cream blush could work beautifully. NudeStix brand of a more subtle line of product. Their in the nude line is so easy to use. You could cream nightlight, bronze, and blush and still have a no makeup makeup look. I have the blush palette you bought and like it. I swirl the matte and shimmer together and it makes it more natural looking. Light hand for sure. mommabakes How is it going with the new products?

I do powder blush. I haven't tried cream blush. Is that for more if you do all over color and need to blend more? Depends on the cream. I have the sephora cream blush and need to use an ultra light hand and blend for days to make it look natural. But then I have a bite multi-stick and a NudeStix (bondi bae) and they just melt into the skin with your fingers. Love them for days I want a more natural look.

I have a question for you beauty gurus! How long do you keep your make up products? Like do they have a shelf life? What's a typical time line to toss? I have a ton of things like eye shadows that I've had for a gazillion years, but would never ever use it up, so I never throw them out (like those huge multi-pallete things). I think I should really toss a whole bunch of stuff. I tend to be more of the mindset to 'keep it just in case one day bright blue eye shadow comes back' or something.

redandblue makeup and skin care do expire. They all have a date on the bottom (or side near a bar code). Typically it is 6 months, 12 months, 18 months, and I’ve seen very few 24 months. Technically, Once products hit their expiration date you *should toss them for cleanliness, etc. Now, this is only me, I exceed those dates for certain products. Typically powdered products are ok. I keep eye shadow pallets longer than the 12 months. I have tossed some that have turned chalky but you could probably still use them - they just aren’t as pretty. Cream or liquid products are case by case. I will toss eye products at their date pretty religiously bc no way do I want to mess with eye infections. I’d toss old stuff you don’t use (or donate if not expired).

45thparallel thanks! I totally have a shit ton to toss...no way any of them would be not expired! Lol (mascara, and cc cream aside, all my eye shadows are Hella old! Lol). Time to purge!

45thparallel then I guess my next question is how do you buy powder type products that you would ever use up within those time frames (and still have variety?). I'm talking mainly eye shadows. Like my base colours, for sure I can go through it. But most of those other ones I would never ever finish even a small eye shadow! Seems like such a waste!

I buy more then I can possibly use. But I use it until I get bored of it. Then I toss or give away. Right now I have 3 palettes on the go - Tarte clay play, tarte toasted, Too Faced Peaches. There is NO way I’ll finish them before they expire but eye shadow is something I use for years until the formula changes. I’ll continue using these 3 until I fall I. Love with something else and one will be demoted or given.

FYI- I also have this problem with bronzer and highlighters. I buy more than I can possibly use but they are powders so I use them beyond their expiry date (often way beyond)

redandblue, I definitely keep things longer than it allows. Especially stuff that I use brushes with. I've never had an issue. Usually stuff like mousse foundation or something dries up anyway so that gets tossed. Mascara is the only thing I'm hardline about but I also spend like $7 on it and it usually runs out before it expires anyway haha. Like the Sephora blush palette, I won't throw away. I might find something better later but I don't think I'd toss it unless it started to break up or something.

45thparallel I haven't had time to play with stuff yet! I did try and do my brows, but I think I need more practice.

mommabakes yeah your skin is fantastic. #skingoals. The brow color match looks great. Maybe a bit more filling in under the right arch. I’m still trying to master a great Betweenthelines brow (she’s awesome at it!).

CestLaVie how was the mixology palette? I considered that one. I really like it! The colour goes on really nicely. I haven't played with very many of the shades but I really like the formula so far!
