Hello and happy Sunday! Today is H’s birthday but we don’t really have plans. He spent $1000 on a tattoo so I told him that is his only gift. We piled in the car for church and my car battery was dead. So we went to an auto store instead.
Toddler has 2 teeth coming in on the same side. Top and bottom. Canines or 1st molars. I can’t tell. Hes had his 8 teeth for so long I was wondering when more would pop up.

doodlemommy I have a slow cooker and an instapot but my DH is dead against running the crockpot while no one is home. Your pulled pork recipe and chipotle chicken/ potato/ corn chowder sounds good too. I have decent recipes for the others you mentioned but haven’t made a few in a while. I used this recipe as a base for the chowder but modified a bit. I use 2% milk instead of whole and skip the tortilla chips and the poblanos. I ended up using chipotle seasoning instead of the can of chipotle chilies. I also add carrots. It’s super yummy and not too heavy or rich. www.browneyedbaker.com/chipotle-chicken-and-corn-chowder/The pulled pork I cook in the instant pot now but used to crockpot. I cook it in a combo of brown sugar, garlic, onion, paprika, salt and pepper. Add some apple cider vinegar or fresh pressed apple juice and your favourite bbq sauce. Should shred super easily

cythe i only read a bit and this may have already beeen said, but E taking her time on the walking and talking front is no reflection on you and what you are doing or not doing. These are two things very spefically that you cant neccesarily influence unless no one ever talked in her presence or you forced her to sit. Im not caught up on what EI resources you are working with here or what your doctors have said but you are taking care of all of her needs. Every child does things at different times. Some kids need extra help in some areas that others do not but every parents is worried about something. Its a trade off. Believe it or not, i was just talking to a local mom today whose son at 0 words at 18 months and disnt walk until 18 months. And now, no differences from his peers at 3. So weird that i just had the convo today! He walked at like 18.5 months.

H is watching all the Leprechaun movies and they’re awful so I’ve been watching Shrill in the other room. Anyone else watch? I think I like it. I usually half watch and half play on my phone.

danvers Herpangina is basically HFM, but only in the mouth. It starts with a high fever for 2 days, followed by painful blisters/ulcers in the mouth and back of the throat for about 5 days. It’s extremely contagious and goes around the schools here often. This is the second time DS1 has had it. Once a kid gets the strain, your kid will be immune to it going forward, so I am hoping these two strains are it for DS1! Hoping DS2 doesn’t get it again either - he is miserable right now. At least DS2’s fever broke, so that’s good news. That sounds awful. The HFM virus was what gave DD2 menegitis at 3 weeks old but I’ve enevwr heard of Herpangina. Ugh. Hopefully it’s iver for you all quickly. I remember that! I was so so nervous for you and DD2 but didn’t know that coxsackie virus could lead to meningitis.

nooooo! bootsorhearts1 , August Blooms , Taitai rebeccabunch for all the sickness. Sounds like Taitai house is getting better. What about August Blooms , and bootsorhearts1 , how are you guys doing? I am joining you guys with the sickness too. I’m thinking we had about a month on sickness free then boom! Thursday at school pickup DS started having a runny nose and last night lil fella is all congested. thatgirlrachel that sounds painful. My mom used to get them and I recall the Dr. Saying that trimming toenails straight across prevents that from happening otherwise no advice...oh check her shoes if they’re wide enough?

Anyone have any good quick weeknight dinner recipes that don’t involve ground meat? I feeling very uninspired lately. Oooo...I was going to post this here but I made a really gorgeous dish this weekend and if you follow the recipe it’s quick but expensive usng the cut of meat in the recipe. I used chuck roast instead and braised it in the oven at 325 for about 3 hrs. I can see using an IP -if so reduce the added liquid by half. www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Moroccan-Beef-Stew-234422Chicken tikka In a crock pot or IP. I prefer the IP cos the aroma doesn’t permeate the entire house - I have a thing with smells 😳 if using IP use only half of the diced tomatoes. www.thekitchn.com/recipe-slow-cooker-chicken-tikka-masala-recipes-from-the-kitchn-211284Roasted chicken, potatoes and kale - love this and so easy plus easy clean up and it’s an all in 1 meal and despite the very simple ingredients, it’s really good - one of DS fav. I also just use drumstick. www.foodandwine.com/recipes/roasted-chicken-legs-with-potatoes-and-Tex mex chicken. Another family fav and another all in 1 dish. We usually serve another side veg of some sort in addition. I use bell peppers in place of poblanos for the kiddos. www.finecooking.com/recipe/tex-mex-chicken-with-chiles-and-cheeseMoroccan chicken. It’s quick and has chickpeas in it. Very flavorful and aromatic. No link. I can give you recipe if you like to try. Both boys love it with couscous. We also love rope vieja- not a quick dish but it freezes well and i usually make quinoa with black beans as a side option. Most of the above freezes well so I tend to make double batches over the weekend and freeze 1 batch for the week days. I tend to power cook in the weekends and we basically grill during the week or pull mains from the freezer. This helps so much when I was working FT and I’ve just kept it up and also less clean up to do during the work week.

duskymonkey I am just going to say that your family is so lucky to have such a great cook! Your recommendations are always good, and I am so jealous that cooking and baking come so naturally to you! I can bake, but I am a horrible cook....zero skills. Those recipes you shared sound so good. Your tip to thatgirlrachel about trimming the toe nail straight across and making sure the shoes are wide enough is on point. I used to be a distance runner, and I’d always screw up my toenails. The trimming straight across really helps! Hope the runny nose subsides and that you guys avoid more sickness!

I smell like a garbage salad. I’ve gone 2 weeks but need to get me some cabbage. I’m leaking on rare occasions things need to dry up ASAP so my hormones can regulate.

duskymonkey Thanks for sharing! I always want to make Indian dishes but I have the same issue with the smell permeating the house. I always feel like I’m smelling the dinner for days, especially in the winter when I can’t open windows.
