I'm really excited for the It remake. I can appreciate the first movie. But I never really found it scary. Maybe I'm broken. I heard they are making this remake scarier. Who knows. I wasn't scared by the original either. Creepy, definitely. But I agree, the trailers for the remake definitely looks like they've upped the scary factor.

I watch The Strangers every year (once a year) during the month of October. I can't wait it after that bc it scares me so much. It's one of my favorites! The same also goes for Sinister. Not a favorite, but scares the crap out of me and I only watch it during our Scary Movie October month. Halloween is one of DH and I's favorite holidays Another "newer" movie I really enjoyed was Dark Skies. Halloween is sacred for my H and I. We have had to scale down on the actual horror because we have a 2 year old. But I absolutely love Halloween. We watch Halloween 1 and 2 every year. I have become a fan of James Wan recently because he does really good ghost movies. I loved Conjuring and Anabel. I loved the first 2 Insidious movies. Annabelle scared the living daylights out of me! I really thought it would be corny, but they did a great job. I love when I'm pleasantly surprised by a movie like that. Conjuring and the Insidious (can't remember the 2nd but I know I saw it) are good ones too!

wanderingheart I cannot handle the Paranormal Activity movies, they are way too real for me! Ugh, still to this day years after watching the original one I can't sleep with my leg hanging out of the covers because I just imagine getting yanked out and dragged down the hall or something.

I feel like the original It was not super scary because it was a made for tv movie/miniseries. There was only so much they could show on tv at the time.

I can't remember the first one that well. Clowns never really scared me or creeped me out (minus the one Poltergeist scene, duh) so I dont think it made a lasting impression. I will definitely be rewatching the original and then seeing the new one as soon as it comes out

Watching the original now, I find it to be quite humorous. Do I avoid storm drains for fear balloons and a clown will come floating out? Hell yes.
I love more realistic horror, whereas mh goes for the classic monster movies and cheesy slashers.

I just hope the It remake has a less cheesy ending. That giant spider just made me laugh.

I found out the other day that Danny McBride (Pineapple Express, Eastbound & Down) is writing the new Halloween movie. Seems so strange, right? I believe they are using Michael Cera as Michael Myers. I'm curious as to how that will look like.

My husband and I are scary movie fans, that's how we knew we were each other's person. :-) We watch them pretty regularly. My favorite movies are Halloween 1 and 2. I love John Carpenter. I also love and follow the special effects guys from the 80's and 90's. I don't really like slasher porn, but I'll watch it because of the effects. But I don't normally gravitate towards it. Give me Paranormal thrillers, and suspense any day. Which is why Jaws and Jurrasic Park are some of my favorite films. After The Conjuring I became obsessed with Lorraine and Ed Warren. Two years ago I went on a haunted house road trip with my h. We are weird. For my birthday, I made H pay for a private tour of what's considered the "most haunted house in America," which is located in San Diego. It was scary as fuck. Shit. Went. Down.

I believe they are using Michael Cera as Michael Myers. I'm curious as to how that will look like. Hmmm I can't picture it at all. On a podcast, Danny McBride said he just wanted to bring Michael back to how he used to be, where he isn't like a Frankenstein monster who is indestructible. He wants him to be scary again and not just dumb. Halloween is my favorite classic slasher so I'm excited for it. It was an April fools joke. I loved the mystery of him in the earlier film. I don't like what rob zombie did with Michael. He gave him too much of a past. I was more scared that he was the way he was because he's just evil. There doesn't need to be a reason all the time. Plus, rob zombie's movies are way too much for me. I don't like sadistic movies.

My H doesn't believe in stuff like that but when we were there, things went down and he was like, "Are you done? Can we please go now?" We saw orbs, there were voices, etc.

So I have these night terrors/hallucinations a couple times a week, they started when I was 19 and they've become more frequent over the years. It's always the same, this thing I call a shadow person (sometimes multiple people) sneak into my bedroom and watch me. I can almost never make out any defining features, it's just this dark figure peeking/standing in the doorway, crawling across the floor, hiding behind the curtains with just their legs showing, etc. At one point they became more vivid and aggressive. One night there were two of them attacking my sleeping husband, stabbing him in the neck with a knife. He woke up to me hitting him because I was trying to fend them off. Another time I woke up to a woman standing at the foot of the bed, pointing a gun at me. It doesn't matter where I am, they follow me. College, hotel rooms, etc. I used to panic each time it happened, but it's gotten to the point where I'm so used to it I just stare at them for a few seconds, tell myself they aren't really there, and go back to sleep.

Since we are talking scary stuff...
I don't care if people are about to think I'm crazy.
I used to live in an apartment that I was convinced was haunted. Lots of things happened in that apartment but one of the scarier instances was this: I woke up in the middle of the night to someone pulling on my leg. I turned over to tell H, "ARE YOU FUCKING CRAZY? DO YOU REALIZE HOW TIRED I AM?" Why I thought pulling on my leg meant he wanted to have sex, I don't know. Anyway, I turned over and H was dead asleep. Meanwhile, something was at the end of the bed pulling on my leg like it wanted to pull me down the bed.
