sarcaztic10 she sounds like a joy! Argyle I only knew one Philip growing up and never heard anyone call him Phil. But that’s a very small sample size haha.

Yikes to in laws having anything to say about breasting feeding relationships between mom and babies. That's so odd to me.
Cereal at 4 months? I'm in canada but doctors always recommended waiting for any solids until 6 months. No exceptions from my doctor. If you stop producing enough milk, you would need to supplement either with expressed breastmilk or forumla.

sarcaztic10 Well that's weird. Hopefully they have a little more distance this time. People, be totally straight with me. Realistically, if I have a Philip nn Pip, what are the odds I will end up with a Phil? We live on the west coast if it matters. Philip ive only heard as Phil or Lip. I don't think Phil is a bad thing. But I'm a big Modern Family fan and it's really made me like the name.

But in past generations it was common to give cereal much earlier, so I think there are a lot of grandmas out there giving unsolicited advice about feeding babies cereal very early.

My niece's doctor recommended starting her on solids at four months, but... that was her *doctor*. And I highly doubt the doctor badgered her about it like this MIL.
ETA: this is in USA

ETA: this is in USA Same, we started our boys on solid at 4 or 5 months (ds2 showed readiness signs later than ds1) after our doctor gave the ok, but this was in addition to either bm or formula, and just in very small amounts.

sarcaztic10, my cousin's son is named Rhys and I love that spelling! I also really like Finn and Felix from your list. Arlo and Lucien are not my style, but they're not offensive to me.

So I pulled out my original girls name list with the intention of crossing some off and narrowing it down. Instead, I added to it. There are 3 names on the boy list, however, and I’m pretty sure H will veto all of them.

sarcaztic10, I love your name list. I think Rhys is my favorite, but they are all great choices IMO.

I think we might be choosing the first name Noah if it's a boy. On both sides of my family it's the only name we like lol. I like how Francesco and Noah both have vowel endings. I like the name stand alone. My only hang up is that Francesco is so long and Noah is short. Which at this point is kind of dumb so oh well.

Rhys = Reece? Yes? Maybe? I have never seen that name / spelling before. I was pronouncing it very weird in my head.

We also started cereal and purées around 4 months.
Clearly I can’t put all of my thoughts in one post today.

Rhys = Reece? Yes? Maybe? I have never seen that name / spelling before. I was pronouncing it very weird in my head. I am finding out most people here do pronounce them the same. It’s not the way I like it pronounced, I prefer the welsh pronunciation which puts more emphasis on the rh- sound and has more of an -is sound at the end. Though after realizing that this kid is likely going to be stuck with the Americanized pronunciation or be correcting people all the time I don’t know how I feel. I am reconsidering having both Rhys and Reece be voted on as I really don’t want to split the votes on spelling variations.

I thought Rhys was pronounced like Reece/Reese but I’ve never actually known a Rhys IRL so that may all be in my head.

Alas. Well, I certainly appreciate your honesty saving me from a Phil. [Usual disclaimer that there's nothing wrong with Phil, just not what I'm looking for.]
Leaning Everett Alexander now.
And yeah, I didn't know Rhys was different from Reece so your son would probably deal with that pretty constantly.

Yeah, I just don’t know how I feel about the Reece/Rhys name now. I really have only heard it pronounced the way the last person (shannon15) in this link pronounces it. I’m mobile but not on Tapa so this may not work. forvo.com/word/rhys/

So a name we really like is the middle name of my sister's DD. Is this weird? Acceptable. I am not sure how she will take it if we decide to use it...thoughts?

Is it a really unusual name or a more common one? If it's unusual/uncommon and not a family name, it might be more weird than if it's a more common name or one in the family. If that makes sense. Like, if her DD's middle name is Chrysanthemum, I would probably not, but if it's Maria, I would.

We want to use a name ending in elle, or ellie since that was my grandmother's name. That is also part of why my sister chose Joelle for the middle name...Ugh I am so torn.

jense927 maybe have a conversation with her before you fully decide to use it to feel her out. Also, I know it might not be what you are looking for but I’ve always loved Noelle with the nickname Ellie.

Also, I know it might not be what you are looking for but I’ve always loved Noelle with the nickname Ellie. I agree with this. One of our boy names is actually the name my sister would have used if her current womb-occupant was a boy (and she does not want another one), and I called and had a conversation with her and basically said, "It's totally ok for you to say no and I won't be offended, but would it be ok for us to use that name for our boy?" She checked with her H and said that it was fine with them. Some people are possessive with names and some are not, and you won't know till you bring it up.

Its so hard to tag on tapa.
I too was saying Reece and Rhys the same way.
I wouldn't reuse a name that someone in my immediate family circle has, unless it was in honour of that person with that same name.

I would never have considered asking permission to use a neice's middle name, and in fact that's what would have happened if it were a girl. But that name was Elizabeth. I don't think I've heard of Joelle, so that is a bit different.
