I think we’ve decided on Lucas if we have a boy, but I’m not sure what name to use with it. It can be a first name or a middle name. I’m not sure I have a preference. Our last name is 2 syllables and starts with the letter L. Any advice?

My son is Frances.co Hutchin.gs both important family names. Which I love. But now regret bc I feel as though I have to give this baby a big family name and there are no more boys names I like to use.
If the baby is a girl, which F insists it is, she will be Eleonore Elvira. After my grandma and H grandma.

I like a one-syllable middle with Lucas, to break it into 2-1-2. Lucas John Lucas Dean Lucas Cole Lucas James Lucas Finn

But we aren’t sure if we will use Lucas for a first or middle name. I think our preference is first, but it depends on if we find a combination we love that way. I like names that are traditional, literary, maybe a little old fashioned? A like different while not being too different. M is much picker than I am as he turns down just about everything 🤷🏻♀️ We’ve considered Lucas James, M says he’s not really a fan. He offered Lucas Charles, but I’m not sure I like it. Lucas Dean has come up, but I’m not sure I like the flow... which surprised M since he thought I’d jump on naming our kid after Supernatural 😂 Thanks for the recommendations Dramaphile and Diordra. I’ll practice saying these today to see how I like them

I had a great aunt named Elvira who pronounced it "el-VEE-rah", although apparently her birth name was Alberta.

Or it would still have meaning and be fun 😉

I’m excited! I think H and I finally agreed on a middle name.
How does Lu.cas Ez.ra sound? I feel like it goes well together, and it seems to go with our last name. I really like it a lot, but I wanted to see if it flows as well as I think it does. Thanks!

*sigh* Second guessing Ezra as the middle now because it ends in "uh" and our last name begins with "luh". Dumb.. I keep getting caught up on it.

Ds is Se.bas.tian Ja.mes
We always have a hard time with names since we have different styles. I tend to like non trendy classic correctly spelled names. DH is on the surname for first names, masculine names for girls bandwangon. So we always struggle with this.
We find out tomorrow what we are having so that will help! I'm pretty sure it's a boy.
Our last name seems to flow better with J middle names. Probably why my H's family all have J middle names lol
Joyce and Violet are maternal family names that I really would like to use. At least one of them.
Girl- Georgia Violet Violet Joyce Penelope Joyce
Boy- we agree on nothing yet.

DS name came so easily for us - like when we were dating we already had the first name picked out. This one was a bit difficult - due to my weird thinking (lol) - MH, me, & DS names all end in N so I decided we had to continue that which kind of made the option window small. When looking at names that end in N I was reminded of a name I LOVED forever ago, so that's what we're going with. I probably won't share here because I think it's normally a masculine name (we're having a girl; pairing with a feminine middle name) and I know names are serious around here haha
If we were having a boy it would have been Hudson Daniel.

So MH and I went through the entire top 500 social security list and have 2 boy names we like. Caleb is still on the list, and we added Gabriel, middle name will be Scott (family name) and last name is one syllable, very common. Jonah is a maybe now. Trying to convince him to add Sebastian to the list, but he says it's "too European". He also vetoed Gideon because he thinks it's a girl's name due to the fact that it's the name of the female-voiced ship's computer on Legends of Tomorrow. Declan was our boy name for DD, but we've kind of soured on it now (plus we have a friend who has a Declan who just turned a year) so it's off the list.

I keep hearing boy’s names that I like, which doesn’t help us at all since we’re having a girl.
We have a last name that’s hard to pronounce and spell, so we want a first name that’s classic and spelled a normal way. But not too common.
Dd1 is Claire.
We’re considering Madeline (Nn Maddie?) but I’m not sold on it yet.

I hope my comment about names isn't causing you not to want to share yours. I am just supper annoyed with my H and I really hate that our styles don't align for names. So maybe my comment on it came across harshly. Everyones styles are different. It's not to say one is better than the other. Ok guys we are stuck on boy names right now. Our top two picks are Levi and August.
Middle name may be Matthew but we are not stuck on that. Avery would be another choice of middle name but I wouldn't like August Avery. Our. Last name is 1 syllabul and starts with K. Which one do you guys like?

Coming out of lurking because August is pretty much the only name on my boy list. My mom passed away earlier this year and we were very close, her birth month was August so I thought it might be a subtle way to honor her.
