Hello! I don't WW, WLC, or C25K. Can we do a general work out check in thread? I'd like to have somewhere to check in to help keep me on track with regular work outs.

My goal is to work out on days that I don't have other strenuous physical activity. I garden and do field work so working out on those days where I'm physically exhausted is just not happening. I'll also aim for one rest day per week.
Last week I got one BBM maintenance routine in during the week. Active yoga class on Sunday, BBM 5 minute abs today. I have one field day this week so I'll do a work out 4 more days this week.

Sounds good to me! My biggest thing is actually getting in the days as I have them scheduled.
Last night was a good bench night for me. If I was 7 pounds lighter I would have done two singles at bodyweight. I almost loaded up over bodyweight for the second one, but decided against it and it was a good choice. It would not have gone up. My bench going up while losing weight has been...weird. It's usually the first lift to die a quick, painful death during weight loss.

I do C25K randomly, but have different workouts planned during my lunch breaks.
M - upper body T - lower body W&T - cardio F - C25K or another upper body

I downloaded the Stronglift 5x5 app and have been having fun with that, but I know I'm going to have to get the Powerblock expansion pack soon. I'm also thinking about getting either a straight bar or a curve bar.

Since I can't consistently get out to run (thanks DH), I've resorted to home videos. I just finished up the 30 day shred a few weeks ago and started doing piyo.

Can I go here too? I'm doing WW and recently started running again but I also plan to strength train 2-3 times a week. I mostly do so at home with videos. I like Jillian Michaels (I'm on a JM break, I've been going strong since the fall) and Jessica Smith. I usually only do cardio at the gym and some free weight moves that I remember from the vides I do, and I usually just wing it. I can never get there on time for classes, I used to all the time when I only had 1 kid.
I recently have been able to get to the gym more & like that the kids can't interrupt me there (pausing my workout to get a snack for a 5 year old or to tend to a toddler who decided not to nap is not ideal).
Any advice for a strength training routine I can do at the gym?

I woke up at 5 and met my running group for a track workout. The early mornings are rough but I am getting faster. Today was almost five miles total. I really need to find a short and sweet strength routine to do as well. If anybody has suggestions.

Ali7P, does your gym have any trainers there? My old gym had relatively affordable trainers ($50/45 mins), and 1-2 sessions would be enough to give you a decent foundation. Also, a lot of gyms will do a free introductory PT session to teach you to use the equipment properly (while trying to get you to sign up for more paid sessions) If you're a novice with strength training, I recommend getting some assistance before diving in full speed. I'm always amazed at some of the things I watch people doing at the gym.

Maybe I should just use those sessions... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I need to work out today but it's going to be tough, schedule-wise. DS has his first karate class after school (like right at dinner time) so I'll probably have to fit it in during his bath time, and not eat a big dinner.

I ate like shit today and now lack the energy to work out. So I bought another 4-week program on Fitness Blender. Today is a lower body strength and HIIT workout: 36 minutes until I hit the "workout complete" button. But Bulgarian split lunges and I hateeeee those.

For today's lower body workout, I did a quad circuit (one-legged squats, closed cable squats, and walking lunges), and a hamstring circuit (donkey kicks, romanian deadlifts, and stability ball curls).
I also work my core every day and I did two sets of plank slide crunches. EL DIABLO!

Sometimes little things like how the collars work for the free weights can be a big thing!

I plan to hop on the elliptical while I re-run the dryer once we get home. I need to find my foam roller and get this knot out of my lat too.

Can I join?
I'm headed in early tomorrow to workout with an intense crew of folks. Crossfit inspired, NMS, but a hazard of joining them. Lucky to be alive some Thursdays. It's my first day back with them in over three months after a knee injury. Should be frightening.

I was a huge fan of the Fitstar app if you are looking for something that you have some control over duration. It's entirely body weight, no equipment (maybe a chair for dips is all), and is adaptive to your progress. I used the free version for about four weeks and regret not getting the full. It was super motivating.

Yesterday I did a 40 min strength workout video and added on a 10 min walking video because I was 1500 from my step goal. I've also been walking 2 miles nearly every day on my lunch break at work. Tonight will either be a walk/jog with my daughters or a cardio workout at home, I'm thinking short & sweet HIIT.

Wow, good work everyone! Hearing your plans and how you fit them into your day are really motivating for me to keep it up.
I did manage to fit my BBM maintenance work out in yesterday. I HATE doing them after I eat dinner, even though it was at least a couple of hours earlier, I still felt so heavy and sluggish. But, I did it. Today I am toying with trying to make it to an active yoga class - if not, I'll do BBM at home.

I'm to a point where my body is naturally waking at 4:20 to get up and workout. I love/hate the fact.

So far I just wake up at 4:45, shut the alarm off, and get angry because really...really? TJ you went to bed knowing you weren't getting up. Why not let future TJ sleep in?

Hi! I just started bikini body girl Monday and I'm still sore! I do the bbg workout M,w,f and walk the other days. I also aim to get 10k steps daily. Sunday is my rest day. I hope to incorporate some yoga into my routine as well.

I ended up taking a rest day yesterday. Today I hiked a couple miles in steep terrain and did a 5 minute ab work out. Soooo tired.

I reran W3D1 of C25K today, followed by two sets of spider planks and full sit-ups. I told the trainer I want to do another upper body tomorrow since I don't feel my attempt to do one alone on Monday was very effective. Maybe I'll be able to lead myself one day, but I don't see that happening any time soon.

Cindy is a Crossfit WOD (workout of the day) 5 pull ups 10 push ups 15 air squats Repeat for as many rounds as you can in 20 minutes. We did 10 mins of these three then 5 mins. It sucked!
