So I may have gone a bit overboard on the barn/friendChristmas party invite list. I accidentally invited 50 individuals most of whom will have +1s or more. And many of them have rsvp'd they will attend. So now I need ideas for food to feed many people without getting crazy. We will do bacon and dates, white chicken chili, meatballs, cookie tray, veggie tray, cheese tray... the. I need other ideas... any thoughts?? Also any other holiday musings are welcome here.

What about a standard beef chili? That’s a lot of people. I’d think about a pan of cornbread as well.

Turkey or ham ?
I am beginning to realize how much I haven’t done and need to do for the holidays. Tree, decorations, shopping, cards. I need a to-do list and some motivation.

Are there many vegetarians around there? If so, maybe a veggie chili or other veg entree? Other than that, I’d add one more app to the dates - some kind of crostini? And some bread/rolls to the chili and call it good! Sounds like a nice spread. Oh, and booze. Don’t forget booze.

We don't do Christmas cards. We're getting a real tree, probably Wednesday and we'll decorate on Thursday after school. We'll do our shopping probably thursday/friday/Saturday. I need to make a list. So far we have lego for S, and a stocking stuffer for each kid.

I want to wrap all the gifts and be done with it, but it seems so anti climatic to have them sit there for two weeks. When do you put out gifts?

My mom always started putting them out a week or so before Christmas. We usually do it a few days before, or sometimes Christmas eve. It also depends on if we actually have somewhere to store them until then, last year we put M's big present under the tree as soon as we got It, because we didn't have room for it anywhere else.

I think was tempted to wrap what I have for L from her auntie etc. but I think you are right it would feel anticlimactic. I think I will wait for a few days before Christmas.

Dd1 and I wrapped the gifts we have for my H and put them under the tree the other day. Then, two days ago, we received a box of wrapped gifts from the grandparents in Minnesota and put them under. I’ll wrap and put out presents from us for the girls as soon as I have them sorted out/have enough energy to wrap them after bedtime. I was worried dd2 was going to tear them open and ruin the surprise for everyone, but she’s been leaving them alone. So far. I

I'm dying of shock. My MIL just called to tell us that she just found out she has Christmas day off work, and that she would like us to go over there for breakfast that day. Which is perfect, since my mom texted earlier to ask if she could have us for dinner this year, since usually MIL doesn't get off work until the afternoon so we spend the morning with my parents and then go over there for dinner. I think this is the first time EVER that everybody will be happy.
