So H likely needs tubes. Dh is trying to figure out how much it’s going to cost since we have a super high deductible (6500 individual)
Google tells us $2-4K, but the billing dept at the hospital just told him $9300! I seriously have never heard of it costing that much and think she must have been wrong. But if that’s the case, we will try and get it done this month to meet our deductible.
So.. if you don’t mind sharing, do you have any idea how much tubes cost?

Also, what’s recovery time like? When will he be back to normal for daycare?

We had it done 2 weeks ago and it was $3600...I asked when we paid 10% copay. $9k seems really high for just tubes.

She took some solid naps that day, but otherwise nothing noticeable. The worst for me was going into the OR to help when they put her under 😰

I had to pay my $2500 deductible and then 20% after that. So my 20% was $950. I still haven’t been billed by the anesthesiologist yet.

H went to daycare the next day. They prescribe drops after the surgery. If you recall, H’s ears were still infected at surgery and a week later. I took him back to the ENT, he suctioned out his ears again & we did drops for another week.

Cadence went back the next day. I don't recall how much it cost. We got a care credit card to cover it so I could pay it off in smaller payments.

I just looked and I think it was about 7k total for S’s tubes before insurance. She was back to normal later that day and would have been able to go to daycare the next day if she went.

Thanks, ladies. Dh is going to call back today just to double check. I can't believe how much of a range there is in price. And we are not in a HCOL area do I'm surprised it's so high here.

I would guess yours would be similar in price to mine. And I’m not 100% sure that my figure is right because there are like 3 different EOBs. You could also give your insurance company a call to see if they have an estimate for you too.

9k doesn't sound crazy to me but it's going to be less than that because your insurance will write off whatever their contracted amount is so long as everyone is in network.
