This is more a random sadness than an TP, but it looks pretty clear that DH and I were not selected for an IVF grant Next step - giant loan from retirement-aged Daisy (we're borrowing from my retirement account to finance the IVF).

I am so sorry, daisy818. It sucks to have to worry about the financial strain of IVF on top of everything else. ((HUGS)) When were you planning on starting IVF?

I am so sorry, daisy818 . It sucks to have to worry about the financial strain of IVF on top of everything else. ((HUGS)) When were you planning on starting IVF? We had decided to move forward to cycle in August either way the grant turned out. That gives me time to submit the paperwork for the retirement loan and get that money on hand. Now to also start calling around to figure out which pharmacy will have the best deal on meds!

Ugh, I'm so sorry daisy818. I don't have any TPs today (shock, I know. I'm usually full of them.). I'm going to a new acupuncturist tonight. I went to a different one religiously leading up to IVF #1, then a little less regularly for IVF #2 and my FET. So I'm thinking I'll give this other one a shot, as she seems to have an amazing reputation for specializing in infertility.

Hugs daisy818, it sucks to have to worry about the finances as well as everything else. If you haven't already, look into the Compassionate Care program for Serono meds. I think the other major manufacturer has one too. It can give you a hefty discount off the self pay price.

I was planning on taking my BCBA exam in August so we could start cycling this fall, with an FET early 2018.
Due to other circumstances there's no way I can take it in August, which means I have to wait for the next round in November. Which pushes back cycling further, as I wanted to be DONE with it before starting. I don't want to be cycling and studying at the same time, especially when that time of year is already crazy work-wise.
It's such a minor thing but I got really disappointed about it yesterday. 😞

Shoot daisy818, I was really hopeful about that grant. A little extra time is good though! Like you said, it gives you time to plan everything out. specter, YAS! Do all the things! Hopefully it's at least relaxing too. bonzo, oh yeah good idea! We got compassionate care discounts for our first year. Also another med savings tip: utilize your overfill! The best overfill is in the gonal-f multiuse vial. It's got 600IU in it but it's marketed as 450. That's the most overfill of any of the FSH products. For some people that's practically an extra day's worth! butlerfan, oh perfect, two pregglies in one room. That'll make a girl feel awesome. Hugs and wine. fikafairy, I think this is still doable though! Could you cycle in August and take your exam in November and still transfer in early 2018, no? How many retrievals are you thinking? lemonliz, I don't think we will have the funds ready in August, plus we are doing Disney for the first time mid August, and I still have about 30 lbs to go before being ready. Plus I want to wait until after September for emotional reasons. We are planning on one retrieval likely, no more than two and doing freeze-alls. I just feel overwhelmed I think.

lemonliz I can sneak in a flask....right?! I mean I'm happy for them and having our foster kids help with the pain of IF (but so much uncertainty there as well) but baby showers I think will always hurt and sting. And since this is one of my best friends I know I have to go but I've put off getting the baby shower gift until today.

daisy818 I'm sorry fikafairy that sucks. ***warnings*** I too have a baby shower to go to tomorrow, butlerfan. Fortunately, the organizer is a friend who knows about our struggle (and is also an IF grad), so she's cool with me deciding if I feel up to it the day of. Which is good, since AF is also due tomorrow... I also have to meet with a disgruntled student tomorrow about her wanting to appeal the grade she earned in my course this spring. Her reasoning is that she worked really hard and has never gotten this low of a grade before (neither of which are reasons a grade can officially be appealed). Of course, if she had put as much effort into the course as she is into complaining about her grade, she probably wouldn't be in this predicament in the first place, but I probably shouldn't say that to her. I am just irritated that I have to do this and I know it won't be a fun meeting. And tomorrow is going to suck enough as it is without this stupid meeting.
