I can't believe it's already December! How are all the HIH babies doing? Anything new and exciting? Any new concerns? Are you all excited for the LO's first (or maybe second) Christmas?

J had his 6 month appt last week and did great. He is a little guy at 25th percentile for weight and height. Sleep is a crapshoot but he is doing well otherwise. I feel like he is so close to crawling, or talking, or getting his first tooth but no dice yet. We are working on trying different foods but he is most obsessed with drinking water.

Things are going well here. It's amazing how some days are a combination of being busy and bone crushingly slow with two small kids.
DS2 is 6 months now and a tank at 20lb12oz and 28 inches. He's not quite the unicorn sleeper that my first was/is but I also can't complain either. It seems like he's trying to figure out how to get up on his hands and knees lately. I'm not sure that I'm ready for two mobile kids yet 😳.

DS2 is doing great he is 7 weeks and starting social smiling a few days ago. He still eats frequently but is quickly outgrowing his 3 month clothes. 😮 Sleep is eh. He usually does one 4 hour stretch followed by two 2-2.5 hour stretches. Breastfeeding is going well. He's a boob monster. We got him some small things for Christmas because ds1 understands more about Santa this year. He's gonna need clothes more than anything since all my 6 month stuff is summery. Sigh.

We're all getting over the flu from last week so things haven't been going great.
Question though- the twins are 7 months and have recently become very fussy at their bottles during the day. We've even tried the dark room trick that worked in the past with no luck and tried faster nipples. Any other suggestions?
We're having lots of night wake ups to eat (maybe it's just two each but with twins it feels so much).
I'm wondering about frequency of bottle feeding as well. What's normal at this age? My ds1 kept up with the every four hour schedule for a long time but I'm not sure if these guys just want to go longer or what.

grumpycat , aww social smiles are so fun! lastkiss , J went through a fussy bottle phase for a little while. We switched to faster flow and that seemed to help a little bit but mostly he kind of got over it on his own. Are they on formula? Maybe try switching to a different brand? I also got J a sippy cup handle for his bottle to see if he might enjoy taking a more active role in drinking but I think he needs more time to get the hang of it. J takes 3-4 bottles at daycare over 9 hours so still on a 2-3 hour schedule. ETA: He is on mostly breastmilk with formula to supplement at the end of the day some days and I think formula-fed babies may be able to go longer between bottles, right?

lastkiss they might want to do it themselves. It’s around this age that they start doing it. The avent bottles have handles that will fit them. Maybe give that a shot? Definitely offer small bottles as most big bottles are difficult for them to hold

We had DS1 evaluated again, this time with the school district because he’ll be 3 next month. He qualified this time for speech therapy. We have a meeting with the school next week to come up with his IEP

G can finally sit by himself! I've been making a point to work with him. MIL has made some comments about him 'being behind'. Apparently all her kids were fucking prodigies with early milestones. He can now also go backwards, not really at a crawl but its something.

DS will be 3 months tomorrow! He can hold himself up in his Sit-Me-Up Seat, which is adorable. I call it his command center. He'll roll front to back, but has no interest in that back to front shit. Which is good, because I can continue to use the miracle that is the Swaddle Up. He'll go 8.5 hours at night in that thing. I feel almost human again.

@icedtea how are your pets doing with the baby? I’m currently watching my cat in the PnP with J on the monitor. The cats have far exceeded my expectations.

A learned to inch worm crawl yesterday! It's adorable but now I'm seriously thinking about having to baby proof. I'm going to miss just plopping her down and having her stay in one spot hahaha

I keep forgetting about this board!
A is 4 months. 28in, 17.4lbs at his 4 month appointment! But, I guess that is what happens when you feed them 24/7. His sleep is non existent, I’ve taken away nursing back to sleep. I’m trying to only nurse 2x in the MOTN, or when he seems to really be hungry. It’ll only be night 3 tonight so it remains to be seen if it’ll make him stop waking up 7+ times a night.
Otherwise he’s a great baby. Super sweet and hitting those milestones. I’m just amazed at watching him learn new things!

V is 6 months! Her appt is next week and I can’t wait to see how big she had gotten. She has 2 teeth and sits up alone. We started BLW last week and she is loving it and is so proud of herself when she is feeding herself.
Looking forward to Christmas. V needs new clothes and some new developmentally appropriate toys so hopefully the grandparents listened to my requests and didn’t go overboard

I keep forgetting about this board too! LO is 8 weeks and doing really well. He's pretty big - we are already in 3-6 mos clothing, and he really enjoys breastfeeding. He is giving me a 5-7 hour stretch of sleep at night, which is awesome.
DS1 gave the entire family and our nanny a cold last week, so I am watching LO closely to get him through it as quickly as possible. Lots is saline spray and nose sucking going on.
We are getting lots is social smiles and we successfully completed LO's first plane ride/vacation last week. Traveling with a toddler and 7 week old went okay - just had to be smart about what to bring and the logistics of how to manage what stuff in the airport. Baby carrier was key, as was DS1's trunkie. Love that thing.
Excited for Christmas this year -DS1 finally understands what is going on, and it's so cute to hear him talk about the baby's special first Christmas.

piratecat and cmb it seems it was a bottle strike as he's back to normal again. He's on Alimentum so we don't have much for other options. We tried the Enfamil version but that made it worse.

Gerber makes their own version as well. A wouldn’t even touch that one, though. We moved him to alimentum a few months ago after figuring out the Nutramigen made him super gassy

DS is exactly 7 months and 1 week old today. How?! 😭
One of his bottom teeth broke through a couple of days ago, and I think the other one isn't too far behind. He scoots around all over the place on his tummy. He'll get up on all fours sometimes and rock back and forth. He is such a sweet and happy baby who loves to snuggle.

DD has a new ability to poop 6+ tines a day am I feeding her to much?? Breastfed? My son still goes through phases like this. I asked his pediatrician at his 6 month checkup, and she said that as long as he's not having super watery poop-splosion blowouts multiple times per day, it's fine.

Does anywhere from 3-6 poo diapers a day - we tend to have more poop during growth spurts. ETA - baby is breastfed.

What’s the easiest app for tracking all the feedings diapers naps etc. I was very go with the flow do what she wants and that was working until lately. So I want to see what the natural patterns are before I worry if something needs to change We use baby connect and it has been great for both DS1 and DS2. Super easy to use and lots of useful functions if you want them (like making charts to track growth, avg diapers per day, feeding times). Highl recommend. You can also sync it with other devices, so you and you spouse or a caregiver can put in the info from each persons device.
