Decided to fulfill a craving and bought the stuff to make a giant poutine. I am so happy right now. Oh yum. I’ve had a craving for that since my last pregnancy but we don’t eat meat so it’s basically just a craving for this specific place where they had vegetarian poutine on our honeymoon in Montreal. You could always make it :-) mushroom gravy is traditional and I'm sure you could sub in vegetarian cheese if you wanted. I'm in a food coma right now from the huge bowl I had on top of treats from the Christmas party at work today lol

I have never had poutine but I didn't realize it normally has meat? We don't eat meat, either.

I just got the canned stuff for last night because I was tired, which had chicken stock, but if I'd be making it from scratch I'd probably use veggie stock.

Not a clue where I’d find cheese curds around here but maybe I will have to look into this.

My regular grocery store has them in the “fancy” cheese display, kind of by the deli, like where you’d find the feta or mozzarella balls, not like the shredded Kraft cheeses.

Ugh, all this talk of poutine - yum!!! I’m trying to cut back on eating out but pregnancy is not a good time to do that. A cafe near my house makes poutine. Unusual here, we had loads on holiday in Montreal several years ago but hardly anyone here has heard of it. So good!
But with 2 weeks until Christmas I’m trying to stick to basic food anticipating the onslaught of rich things!

Last night was rough - I ended up taking my phenergan early and I was asleep by 730pm. Oops.
But today I was productive and addressed/stamped our Christmas cards to mail out tomorrow! DH was a sweetie and stuffed them.

Couldn't hear the heartbeat today :-( baby was hiding Do you have a doppler? I got one during my last pregnancy and it helps me in between appointments. I know for some people it can add anxiety, but it's been worth it for me.

I know for some people it can add anxiety, but it's been worth it for me. I don't, and I've contemplated getting one, but I feel like the amount of times I'd use it wouldn't be worth the price. I'm fairly confident in this pregnancy, and the doctors all said that everything looks good, so I think I'll just trust that it's okay unless something happens to point otherwise.

We told SS(14) that he's getting a little sister this weekend. As I expected, he was disappointed it wasn't a boy, but he got over that pretty quickly. Since we knew SS would also spill the beans to his mom, DH went ahead and told her about everything (including how we'd gone through fertility treatments, which I'm guessing she already had pieced together due to us constantly traveling to medical appointments in September). She was genuinely excited for us and sent me a sweet congratulations text. She also offered to babysit anytime we need it. On one hand I feel a bit weird that my husband's ex-wife would babysit for us, but on the other hand, she's very responsible and all those other things you look for in someone who watches your baby, and it would give SS more time with his sister.

I've got a jar of dulce de leche in my fridge. A small jar lasts me a long time lol. Anyways, I decided to put a spoonful of it in my hot chocolate tonight, and mmmmm. OMG, this is decadent!

Anyone have an awesome hot chocolate recipe they're willing to share?
I went to a party that had slow cooker hot chocolate and it was amazing. Now I'm determined to make something like it. My standard right now is the kind in packets.

Plus making it really homemade by adding marshmallows on top (or just getting the kind that have them already mixed in).

Lolol. I actually made slow cooker hot chocolate last year for my residents (I had to work Christmas and wanted to do something special). I believe it was a package of milk chocolate chips, a couple of ounces of dark chocolate, and like 8 cups of milk. You could probably downsize for less people. I've made myself some on the stovetop with a similar recipe cut down. Made like 2 mugs full

I had a dream last night that I was in labor and I woke up kind of disappointed. I know this is unusual, but I actually have really good memories of labor and birth, so I'm kind of looking forward to it? budders I think we've talked about this before, so I'm not the only crazy one.

Yes we have, I’m a fellow crazy. I had a really great birth experience and I am actually looking forward to it again. And it was unmedicated (progressed too fast) and I pushed for 3 hours, so it wasn’t a unicorn birth; I definitely struggled and felt excruciating pain. But overall I have very positive memories of the whole thing. I‘m 100% looking forward to labor and birth more than having a newborn and toddler who doesn’t sleep.
