Huh. Dina Powell is resigning. (For West Wing people, that's like Nancy's deputy). She was high up in the campaign and she knows some shit. REAAAAAAAAAAALLY. That is interesting. Of the Goldman Sachs/NY/Cohn/Kushner/Ivanka wing.

Mark my words, Republicans are on the wrong side of history, and the history books are not going to look kindly on them. If they want to continue to behave this way, they will pay for it when it comes to voting time. They are fucking themselves over in so many ways right now. I fully believe that. They are in serious trouble. I for one am zero percent surprised that the GOP isn’t embracing social change. It’s going to be uneven and unfair and inconsistent for awhile maybe but I do believe we have to clean our own house to have any forward movement on this. And we can drag the line of what is acceptable with us. And shift the environment our kids grow into adults in.

Secondarily, we need to play the long game here. I have some other UO's to that effect but I'll leave it at that for now.

Oh, s/o Jeff Flake, I forgot to tell you guys this. During committee hearings there's often a set of doors on the dais through which committee members and staff enter and exit and then a separate set of doors for press and public. That was certainly the case in the hearing room we were in.
Regardless, several minutes into the hearing, Senator Flake wandered in through the peon door, stood around for a minute, then casually sauntered past the velvet ropes and onto the dais. I seriously wondered if he was drunk.

This is amazing. Steve King tweeted out a racist comment from the PM of Hungary and Walter Shaub is @ing him examples of non-white people who are making vital contributions in Europe.

WOW. That's a lot, and that's just for Manafort and Gates... AGGHHHHHH! I work in e-discovery! This is my wheelhouse! The number of documents may or may not be large depending on The time frame/number of sources. However, it is worth pointing out they were able to find that many docs relevant to the investigation of just those two guys. Also a ratio of 1:200 hot docs to responsive docs is pretty interesting. That is a good number of documents that are of significant interest. Also makes me wonder if they de-duplicated the docs as that could substantially affect numbers.

I love how excited you are about de-duplicating This comment just made me realize that I could legitimately talk about the different facets of de-duplication for an absurd amount of time. I also agreed to create/present a CLE for my company next year. Maybe de-duping can be my passion project!

Look at the GOP and how far to the right they have dragged the very idea of complete middle moderate. The Democrats/progressives/left lost entirely too much ground and we have to drag it back. It's going to be (has been) a long painful process, but we will win because I refuse to let us be dragged back anymore.

Is it better to nominate a moderate Dem in 2020 for the purposes of beating Trump? He could do a hell of a lot of damage in 8 years

What did she do? I think I'm missing something in the twitter thing. I'd say the odds are about 2,605,000 to 1 that she fell prey to their overtures, covert or otherwise Article says no evidence to suggest she did anything improper. Also, this is an interesting point: "In some ways, the Russian outreach to Ms. Hicks undercuts the idea that the Russian government had established deep ties to the Trump campaign before the election. If it had, Russian officials might have found a better entrèe to the White House than unprompted emails to Ms. Hicks."

Worrying that your boss is trying to get you to have sex with him is horrifying. Worrying that your boss is trying to have sex with you in order to get you pregnant is some next level shit.

I’m very impressed with Comey’s ability to throw subtle shade the President’s way, given he tweeted this right around the rally trump is currently at.
