Huh. Dina Powell is resigning. (For West Wing people, that's like Nancy's deputy). She was high up in the campaign and she knows some shit.

The lengths this administration goes to shut out the press is something.

The lengths this administration goes to shut out the press is something. I'm starting to believe the tinhat theories that something is wrong with him. Maybe they're heavily medicating him. His tweeter feed has been uncharacteristically presidential.

🤔
"A former staffer also alleged that Franks tried to persuade a female aide that they were in love by having her read an article that described how a person knows they’re in love with someone, the sources said."

Welp I feel bad for his wife. Not only is her husband a total creep, but now the American public is discussing her fertility struggle.

I knew there was more to the franks story. I don’t think that’s the end of it

I heard someone on talk radio say that the Franks resignation was an overreaction. They were like “you can’t even mention surrogacy in an office anymore”. I hope that person enjoys eating crow.

I also heard someone speculate that Franken won’t actually resign. That he pushed the date out and didn’t really sound like he was resigning and will change his mind between now and then.
I hope that is not a thing.

Well, at the very least, this shows how incredibly foolish he is with money. That’s like 100 times more than the standard rate. Sorry, bad joke.

You know what, no. No you AS A MAN WHO IS THE BOSS cannot mention surrogacy in an office to women who are subordinate to you. I know that severely limits conversation and decency at work for so many people but so be it. These are the sacrifices one has to make.

I am feeling...very torn on the whole Franks thing, from the infertility standpoint. I almost feel like the whole "his wife has struggled with infertility for years" is being put out there to gain sympathy/offset his inappropriate behavior.

Like, oh is that a big loss for people (obviously excluding those few people who have job related reasons for discussing such a topic)

peaseblossom55 I think about you often, which sounds creepy, but I mean it in the non-creepiest way possible. I think it is amazing that you can talk about your story and your little one's story the way that you do. Not creepy and thank you.

I’m feeling more emotional about the fact that this man thinks he can take and do whatever he wants for purposes of his own fertility/family but routinely vote for policies that deny other people the right to make their own decisions regarding fertility and family planning.

I hope that is not a thing. I watched his speech yesterday and I didn't get this impression at all. He was damn near crying.
