taketheshot, do you think maybe being sick contributed to her behavior the other day when she was so.....challenging? Hoping that was the case and you never have a day like that again and that she feels better soon. We've had some rough days/nights with the little guy not feeling well. DH and I decided we are going to make our millions by developing a decongestant that the little little kids can take!

Betweenthelines just think of how many more would be coming through if you didn’t have that Christmas tree in the photos.

The good news is I got the referral I need. But the place only schedules out 2 months at a time and they are full. On Monday they open the week of February 5th. I will be calling first thing Monday morning. I didn’t care for this doctor a ton so I think I’m sticking with our current pediatrician. H felt like the appointment was a waste of time. But I say we got the referral which was my goal.
Children’s called while I was at an appointment yesterday (of course) so I called back and it seems I’ll have to wait to hear back

We’re at the pedi for H’s one year well check. Her dr just diagnosed a heart murmur so we are waiting endlessly for a referral to a pedi cardiologist. Do any of you have any experience with babies/toddlers getting an echo?

Do any of you have any experience with babies/toddlers getting an echo? Yes! Ethan had to get one. I don't remember much about it. So it must have went ok. He was somewhere between 12-18 months. I feel like the whole procedure took less than 20 minutes. I won't be much more help than that. I can't even remember if we had an appointment after that. I guess the fact that i can't remember anything about it, other than the fact we had one, shows you that it was pretty painless. lol

amberlie, E also had one when he was a newborn and still in the hospital. He still has the murmur now but it wasn't anything they were concerned about.

Thanks jedi & RunsforWineandCarbs. I’ve helped doing echos, electrocardiograms, and EKGs at work... but those were all older adults so I wasn’t sure how it may differ. The pedi says he’s not too concerned at this point. The murmur is pretty loud - I listened to it myself when I got home. I listen to E’s heart all the time bc she thinks it’s funny but I never have listened to Hazel before today. But anyway, he said that if it was a serious defect, he would expect other symptoms that she does not have. So hopefully the tests will go smoothly (they’re doing them at my hospital) and we can move on without restrictions and just monitor it.

Today when we were at the doctor, they asked about birthmarks. I found this interesting because I had a pretty good idea why they were asking. I have neurofibromatosis (Ethan too) and Isaac tested and he doesn’t have it. (It causes lots of birthmarks to appear) But because our clinic hadn’t faxed the records (or the clinic we went to hasn’t uploaded them) she didn’t know this. I’m curious why she would wonder about NF without knowing any of our history. Like, it would make sense for her to look for it if she knew our history. Unless there is a correlation between adhd and NF. I feel like this isn’t the first time it happened. I think it also happened when we went to neurology. Mmmmm just interesting. Anyone else get asked about birthmarks?

I think if you have NF, adhd is a something you could also get, as well as other learning disabilities. So perhaps that’s why?

A has the start of an ear infection and either allergies or a small cold according to the doctor today.. regardless of what it is, this is the saddest and sickest I've ever seen her and it's breaking my heart. We have fun activities planned for the next 2 days and I'm going to be so bummed if we can't go. Hoping the amoxicillin works quickly. Shes currently trying to sleep on my chest while sitting in her room.. she's talking to herself but I think she is asleep

Betweenthelines that's great you had an offer already! FX you sell quick and find the house of your dreams! Will you be moving far from where you are? How will that impact your childcare arrangements? I would feel stressed selling my house without having found the perfect home first. I know lots of people do it that way, but I would not be able to handle it. When do you anticipate closing on your place?

RunsforWineandCarbs those pics were exactly what I was like one day when we were in Costa Rica. It was brutal being sick from a hang over (aka alcohol poisoning) when on vacation. Glad yours cleared up in the afternoon! Lol CestLaVie your work Christmas party sounds like a blast. My stupid work just does a potluck during the day. It's a nice afternoon, but boring.

We are looking to stay local, so hopefully not much will change with our childcare. Hopefully. The people that made an offer would need 90 days before stsrting closing so that would help us get our shit together with finding a home for us, but we would move into my parents nextdoor in the interim. It will definitely light a fire under h's ass lol

It is snowing here! Crazy. DS had a blast playing in it till he started crying because his hands hurt. We have some mittens but they are way too big so he kept taking them off.

Do any of you have any experience with babies/toddlers getting an echo? C had one when he was born. The echo was really easy, even when he was older. They had a TV that he could pay attention to while they did it. He outgrew the murmur when he was 3.

Hey ladies! Doing a quick check in! Kids are good. I think K has finally gotten over the rottenness from the other week. I can't think of anything big and important going on otherwise. I miss hanging out daily. Maybe soon!

I think if you have NF, adhd is a something you could also get, as well as other learning disabilities. So perhaps that’s why? Cognitive and behavioral issues are associated features for NF. I'm sure you know that NF can range from extremely mild to severe. Mild cases often go undiagnosed, so that's why doctors might be asking about birth marks in kids where they see behavioral or learning issues- there is always a possibility of undiagnosed NF.

Abigail is finally starting to accept new nanny and isn't asking for old nanny constantly. It's only taken 3 or 4 months. We'll see what happens tomorrow when old nanny is filling in because new nanny is out of town. Old nanny is also staying late tomorrow so DH and I can go to dinner by ourselves after work. I'm so looking forward to a meal in peace!
