The Trying to Conceive After a Loss thread is posted once a week (generally on Tuesday) for those of us who have unfortunately experienced a loss. No matter what type of loss you've experienced, from miscarriage to stillbirth to the loss of a child, it is heartbreaking. This thread is to help us commiserate, get support, and to try to navigate trying to conceive, after a loss, every week.
Out of respect to all the ladies here, please add a trigger warning if you decide to talk about any living children and please hide your signature if it contains pictures or tickers of babies or children. We also kindly ask for grads to refrain from commenting in this thread.
If you get a BFP, kindly either spoiler alert it or do not post it here at all.
**If this is your first check-in, and you would like to provide a gtky loss history intro go for it. If not, no worries!**
How are you doing?

How are you doing? OK. Keeping myself occupied with getting things ready to adopt a baby bunny in a few weeks:)
Status (TTA, TTC, Benched): TTC
Diagnosis (if applicable): NA
Updates/questions: None this week.
Debbie downer (a place to vent ) : I still feel so detached from the TTC process. I thought for a second I might have seen the faintest of lines this morning (just my head messing with me because there is no way there is any sort of visible line there) but in that split second I didn't even feel excitement. Just sort of nothing. I keep having these irrational thoughts that what happened last time was some sort of a warning and that if we get pregnant again and something goes wrong again I won't be so lucky. Blah. Crazy vent over.

sammysam, I am so sorry you're going through that. There is nothing wrong with taking a little break if you need to as well. Take care of yourself in whatever way you need to!

How are you doing? Ok this week.
Status (TTA, TTC, Benched): TTC
Diagnosis (if applicable): PCOS for me, low motility for the hubs
Updates/questions: I finally got my first period, which considering I have bled/spotted off and on for 6 flipping weeks is a huge relief. But this period has been insane. Sorry for the TMI but when I woke up this morning, I'd soaked through a super tampon and was literally dripping blood everywhere. I'm glad to have the period, but holy hell body. Chill the eff out.
Debbie downer (a place to vent ) : This is my second Thanksgiving/Christmas in a row where I thought I'd be sharing baby news, but instead have recently miscarried. Trying to still enjoy the holidays, but it's really hard.

How are you doing? Better, I feel odd posting here so soon, but this check in provides me with solace and makes me feel not so alone so thank you for having me. I keep waiting for people in my life to come forward and say "this has happened to me" but no one has and I think it's hard for people to share or painful or none of my business, which I respect.
Status (TTA, TTC, Benched): benched
Diagnosis (if applicable): pcos
Updates/questions: I go in tomorrow for my follow-up since my D&E and I do not feel motivated to go other than to figure out what I weigh because I don't have a scale at home at the moment. I feel like my OB is a source of reason for me, but also a huge reminder of what I just went through. I'm hoping to get a game plan going forward, but from our last convo it sounds like the game plan will just be taking a whole lot of time to regroup, but she's onboard with us TTC soon if my body will ever cycle "normally" again.
I made it through thaksgiving and attended all social obligations and it was HARD, glad it's come and gone.

How are you doing? I’m here
Status (TTA, TTC, Benched): TTC
Diagnosis (if applicable):
Updates/questions: CD 1 should be showing up tomorrow. Hopefully I feel more into TTC this cycle. September would be an ok month.... I think that’s part of my meh as well... if we did have success I instantly think what month I would be due and how it would play into the school year.

akwild I'm the same as you in terms of month counting...funny that as teachers we immediately go to how it will affect our school year:) Also same as you in terms of cycle. I'm expecting CD1 today or tomorrow.

sammysam, mirabelle, I think about how the timing would be for work too - except I'm not a teacher. September would be a horrible time of year for me to go out on maternity leave, but I'm way past the point of thinking I can influence when I go out. If I ever am able to carry a pregnancy to term, it's going to happen whenever the hell my body decides to get it's shit together. And mirabelle, I'm glad you're back posting right away! This is hard, and I find that this is a great place for me to stay a little sane too. No shame in needing a place to vent and get support.

sammysam I guess our cycles being similar makes since because our losses were pretty close. It also made this loss hard because it was my dream “perfect timing”. Go on leave at spring break and not return until August..... but I am going to take whatever we get.

So my OB prescribed metformin and I am scared to take it because of the plausible stomach problems... does anyone have any history with this drug? Is this the place to post about this or is there a different AL or IF board that might be better suited?

mirabelle, I don't have any experience (though I do have pcos and have thought about it before), but you may want to try the infertility board. I'd guess there are ladies there with some experience.

So my OB prescribed metformin and I am scared to take it because of the plausible stomach problems... does anyone have any history with this drug? Is this the place to post about this or is there a different AL or IF board that might be better suited? I don't know if you got advice about metformin, but I hope they gave you extended release. When I was put on it initially my OB at the time didn't, and it killed my stomach. With ER it still had some issues, but you start on a low dosage, give your stomach time to adjust, bump up the dosage (if OB says to), wait to adjust again, and so on until you are at the dosage they want you on. Eventually after some weight loss I was able to lower my dosage. Over time the issues lessen. I'm actually on it for the 3rd time and I haven't had any side effects this time around. I was worried since it had been years. Anyway, I hope that is somewhat helpful and that things are going well.
