I start my new job at the beginning of January. They don’t know I’m pregnant. I will be out of first tri so I think I will announce sometime after I start there.

I went to the doctor yesterday because I’ve been sick for a week and a half, and I have a sinus infection. I started the antibiotics yesterday afternoon, and between those and the postnasal drip, my stomach is a mess and my nausea is through the roof again. Luckily I still have a huge stock of Zofran.

Is it unseasonal to be feeling that cold or is it getting freezing where you live? I was freezing my whole first tri but it’s spring here and I live in the tropics!

I'm always cold in general anyway, but work was especially cold today. My boss is locating a space heater for me, hallelujah.

beersandweirs, I have the opposite problem at my work lol. The thing about working with a bunch of old ladies is that they're always cold, so the heat is turned up to an average of 23C (almost 75F) and some rooms are even warmer. Not too bad if you're just hanging out but if you're running around being active it's torturous. I'm usually sweating by the time I take my break in the morning!

Toilet training sucks. I’m tearing my hair out. It’s by far the hardest thing I’ve had to do as a parent yet.
DD (2 years + 5 months) is just not getting it. I keep saying she’s not ready, but they’ve pushed her at day care and she’s taking herself off to use the little toilets there and washing her hands afterwards and not having any accidents. Then we’re home for 5 minutes and she’s peed all over the floor again. Refuses to use the toilet at home for me at all. Or her potty. She’ll do it for DH occasionally though.
I’m being played. And I don’t like it.
I’m about to go to the grocery store to buy bribes. I feel like it’s lame to resort to a treat but people keep telling me that it worked for them?

As a reward (not a bribe!), V gets a skittle or smartie every time he goes, and he is excited about peeing in the potty and is doing pretty well with it. External motivators are important and necessary sometimes, especially for kids, and there’s nothing wrong with stickers, toys or treats for following through with something. We haven’t figured out poop yet, unless it happens accidentally while he’s trying to pee. That’s still a work in progress.

As much as I've always wanted to be able to eat whatever I want without gaining weight it's a little annoying now lol. I'm eating so much that I feel sick and I have still not put on any weight lol. I guess we'll see how it goes in the next trimester

From my experience you won't really have to try, it will go on when you need it, first tri most people don't usually gain anyway.

Nah, just I was dieting before I got pregnant and my body got used to that much food. So I bumped it up to a normal amount of food (calories) but still eating healthy and my body is now like "omg, what are you doing to me!?"

I should probably also say that I'm not really used to sitting down and eating supper as a whole meal. MH works evenings which means that I'm home alone in the evening and I had gotten used to just kind of grazing 5 days out of 7. But I'm making an effort now to eat a snack (yogurt or cheese usually, for the calcium and protein) when I get home at 4 and then also having a meal a few hours later. My stomach isn't used to having so much food in it in one go in the evening and it's not particularly liking it.

My kids are an absolute disaster today. I hope they aren't getting sick, I've paid for parents night out tonight.

I wouldn’t worry about the calorie intake in the first trimester. If you’re not hungry, or it’s making you sick, don’t force yourself to eat just to hit a calorie mark. The second trimester is where you’ll be hungrier and eating more.

budders, I know, I guess I'm just worried about bub growing and being healthy. I feel like I've waited SO LONG for this, and I just want everything to go as smoothly as possible. Doesn't help that I'm a natural worrier to begin with.

Ah shit now I feel bad for pushing the toilet training so hard this weekend cause DD has a vomiting bug this afternoon. She was probably feeling off this morning already. Bribes (rewards) are locked away for another week.

adeline potty training is so hard. DS is the same age a you DD. He's run hot and cold on it, we're just trying to go with the flow. Thankfully for us daycare hasn't stated pushing it yet, but he moves up a room in January where they take a more active approach. I hope your DD feels better soon!

Has anyone been diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum?
My N/V never went away, but last week it got a lot worse. I was vomiting every couple of hours and only sleeping around 2 hours each day. I had my appointment on Friday and got diagnosed with hyperemesis, got IV fluids (which started helping almost right away), prescriptions for dissolvable zofran (instead of the tablets that I have) and phenergan suppositories, and have to keep a daily weight record. So far everything's been working pretty well. And the baby's heartrate was good!

And here's a random picture of my dog being jealous of DS sending his letter to Santa.

So far everything's been working pretty well. And the baby's heartrate was good! Oh my gosh, that sounds awful. I’m so sorry that you’re still feeling so sick. I found out at my last appointment that my doctors diagnosed me with HG, because of my persistent nausea and I lost over a certain percentage of my bodyweight. I always assumed that HG was more for situations like yours, so I was surprised at the diagnosis, but they said it doesn’t always have to be that severe. I did need the dissolvable Zofran, but since mine was mostly nausea and very little vomiting, I never had to endure the other stuff. I hope you get past it very soon!
