I have this cold from the furthest circle of hell. I cough constantly and hard. Like I have both thrown up from coughing and also have peed myself - multiple times. I have a fever and my head is killing. Like my teeth hurt. I have a horrible sore throat.
I have been taking Tylenol (1 extra strength every 4 hours), drinking water, eating soup, smoothies and popsicles. I’ve done hot water with lemon and honey, I’ve gargled with salt water, I’ve done pressure points on my head and cold compresses on my head and neck. Relief is momentary. Not even long enough to fall asleep. I’m resting because I’m too damn tired to get out of bed - except when I have to cough.
Please tell me there is something I am missing that I can take. I probably can’t make it to a store today but perhaps tomorrow.

Afrin. Use it for three days, half dose one day four, and then throw it away bc you’ll want to keep using it.
You can also take some sudafed. Most OBs are fine with a small dose, especially later in pregnancy and when you’re really sick.

I'm so sorry. I had a horrible cold like that in September and it was awful. Robitussin DM is on the safe list my OB gave me. I didn't take it a lot probably not more than 3 times but it helped give me some relief at night when the coughing was the worst so I could get some sleep. Also vitamin C drops during the day to help with the coughing as well.

I think I’m going to see the dr in the morning. I’ll ask about both and hit me up a pharmacy!

This sounds like whooping cough to me, I’m sorry you are so miserable! I hope the dr can offer something to give you relief.

Lol, I wandered onto March/April instead of Jan/Feb. Either way, I hope you feel better! *awkwardly returns to her own BMB*

Zinc tablets can help some, i was sceptical but surprised. Vicks on your chest. Maybe see your doctor for prednisone if necessary? Unisom to help you get some sleep.
Hope you start to feel better ASAP, that sounds awful.

What about the young kids cough syrup that doesn’t have meds in it? I think olive leaf extract and the syrupy throat coating stuff is what makes it work? Helps my toddler’s night cough immensely and has an adult dosage listed on the back.

I'll do sorry leatherpants, hope you feel better soon! Good luck at your Dr. My usual remedies are EmergenC drink as soon as I feel like I'm coming down with something, but it's not much help for how sick you are. I also use Nyqyil and Dayquil.I think the Nyquil in my cupboard is pregnancy safe, but not the Dayquil.

This is what my OB/midwife office gave me: I was only looking at active ingredients, is there something in the inactive? leatherpantsDayquil has phenylepherine which is noted to avoid under sinus congestion

snowyowl, it was the recent threads option, wasn’t it? I almost stumble into BMBs that I don’t belong to all the time. Especially the help me shops or food related ones.

leatherpants that sounds like one awful sinus/upper resp infection - although I'm no doc. I hope you got some good meds this morning - def grab a neli-med rinse BOTTLE and distilled water and use the crap out of it.

I’ll name this child after you.

leatherpants I hope you feel better soon! Colds while pregnant are miserable. Sudafed (pseudophedrine, not phenylephrine) is the only thing that touches my colds, and is safe to take while pregnant. I want to say I remember NyQuil being on my safe-to-take list from my OB, but I would have to check.

I had the cough from hell at the beginning of this pregnancy. Couldn't sleep, nothing touched it, woke me up from a dead sleep several times, the works. Whatever it was developed into pneumonia, so then I had to get treated for that, but it did eventually clear up. About a week for the hell portion and a month for the lingering bs.
I hope Nyquil is approved for you, LP! Because I would have killed a man if I could get the relief it promised back then.

I went to the dr this morning and it’s bronchitis. It does seem as though my fever broke last night so that is a move in the right direction. I am allergic to the drug she could’ve given me, of course, so she gave me an inhaler to help me breathe. I’ll take it. And she wrote me off work for three days.
She said no to everything else but it was my family dr. I see my OB weds and I might call her ahead of time.
Also I have my fetal Echo this afternoon. I’m still going to go but I’m not going to sit by anyone or touch anything and I’ll sanitize the crap out of my hands.

Actually, now that you mention it, I think I also had bronchitis somewhere in the cold/pneumonia/cough-filled haze of a few months ago. Glad it's starting to ease off!
Good luck and let us know how the echo goes today!!

Bronchitis is the worst. I always get it every winter and the cough is so annoying. I'm glad you can stay home and rest. Feel better soon. And I would call your OB to see if you can take anything else.
