DNW a freaking Elf on a Shelf. I feel like MIL will get it because it’s “fun”. Obviously V is too young to know so we can just not do it but blah.

Afraid of big huge unwanted presents for LO? Or am I alone ? We try not to have too much stuff and we don't have room for more. H's family loves getting gifts but we already talked to everyone about being more reasonable at Christmas. My mom gives the WORST gifts so I always try to steer her away from getting us anything at all but we'll see.

This is silly but I need to put it some where. I made DD a stocking. It’s not fancy it’s a red stocking with her name in Glitter glue. It matches mine and DH. Don’t know why I am anticipating some one getting her a stocking and it annoying me. DNW I have to knit three stockings by Christmas.

I refuse to use them and got us personalized ones from pottery barn

Afraid of big huge unwanted presents for LO? Or am I alone ? Amazon wishlist with a vaguely disguised threat about ordering anything not on the list. My MIL does this, too, and I’ve been putting my foot down on it. She is to only by off the list, or I will return it or donate the item. She buys a ton of stuff my kids don’t play with, and whenever she asks about it, I straight up tell her they don’t touch it. She’s finally gotten the hint

I think DS2 will get mostly gift cards so we can buy him whatever as needed. DS1 will get legos mostly lol. That's pretty much all he's asked for. We have an Amazon list for a few other things for him too and everyone does a pretty good job of sticking to it. If anyone gets him an elf I'd be pissed, but I really don't think they would. I'm hoping No one goes over board for the baby though. He doesn't need anything and I hate having a bunch of crap around. HOWEVER, I did get the baby one present...a pack of those oballs because they're on sale for $10 at target for black friday. Eta www.target.com/p/oball™-essentials-gift-set/-/A-52602977

I realize this is petty but I don't want random toys my toddler is going to ignore. We all know he loves trains and dinosaurs so why must my ILs insist on stuffed animals and other toys that take up space for a few months until they "disappear".
It also grinds my gears when I insisted on buying both of my boys their first ornament and what does MIL come to the hospital with after being told this? Ugly, heavy Christmas ornaments. I've never said anything, I just have them in the basement to collect dust.

She’s always insistent on buying ornaments and they are never something I like

lupincat my MIL tried to pull that with the ornament. DH basically told her to fuck off and that we're getting one because WE are his parents. She tends to overstep big time with SD because they lived with MIL/FIL after the divorce and she feels entitled. Shitty excuse, and it won't happen with DS so help me.

I have no idea what to expect for gifts for DS from others. I only know about one so far, and I love it. My cousin is a firefighter and has a coworker who does vinyl decals. He bought a Tonka ladder engine (which is what he drives) and had the coworker make decals to decorate it like his truck. It will be super cute. He has all girls, and he's taking advantage of getting cool things for DS.

Family keeps asking what G needs and he doesn't really need anything. That scares me that they will just buy something to buy something.

Bubble push mower, slide/climber, trike, etc. Then it's fun and new when the warm weather rolls around.

I made a wishlist for DD and sent it to the grandparents. I got both of us some matching pajamas for Xmas morning, and we'll pick out stockings. But otherwise I don't think DH and I will get her anything - she'll have enough gifts with 6 grandparents and 2 great grandparents shopping for her.

Luckily both sets of grandparents are good about asking what DS wants - they still buy too much but I know it's love and he's usually really into most of it. Have banked some serious hours on most of those gifts. Perk of having grandparents who teach little kids I suppose - they are good at the gift giving. Hopefully no huge surprises but I doubt it since a few big items have been cleared with us already.

The only thing we got for LO this Christmas is his personalized pb stocking and personalized ornament from shutterfly. We told family not to send gifts, because he's only 2 months old and doesn't need anything (esp since he is our second boy). Of course MIL didn't like that, so she PayPal'ed DH money "to buy LO something nice." Ummmm...that's going in his 529c college savings plan! Thanks!
