In the US, we’re preparing for Thanksgiving on Thursday. Everywhere else, it’s provably just a regular Monday. Happy week! Don’t put important things here. Because they’ll get lost forever.

Does anyone have a good recipe for cooking carrots? My brother's girlfriend doesn't really eat meat so we're trying to think of more vegetables to make for Thursday.
I only have to go into the office one day this week which makes me very happy.

I only have to go into the office one day this week which makes me very happy. I do! I do lots of things by taste/eye, but here's what I do: Honey Roasted Carrots Preheat Oven to 400 deg 1lb carrots, peeled, and cut into sticks (I make mine about an inch long) OR 1lb baby carrots 2tbsp Butter (nelted) or Olive Oil 1 tbsp Salt (kosher is what I use, for regular, halve the measurement) 1/2 tsp black pepper Toss to combine - in a baking dish, throw it in the oven. Check them at around 20 min (I also stir mine around every so often) - they should be soft, BUT with some bite. After they get there, you'll take them out of the oven and add another 1 tbsp melted butter, and 3 tbsp honey, and 3 tbsp real maple syrup - toss to combine again - and back in the oven until the carrots begin to caramelize. Once finished, you can throw some chopped parsley on top to garnish. Serve! These are GREAT at room temp. (also, you can tweak the recipe too, all honey, all maple syrup, less of each if you prefer).

I stayed home from work today with this stupid cold. I’m glad to have a chill day but I wish I could get stuff done instead. We did get all the Christmas decor up yesterday, so this week will be dedicated to thanksgiving prep. I can’t waiiittt to eat all the food.

I just got a letter from my insurance company saying they were denying my claim for my NIPT because my plan only covers proven procedures. They want me or my dr to send them scientific evidence that shows that it is safe and effective for my condition before they will consider covering it. This is not something I really want to deal with the same week as a holiday...but I also don't want to be billed $8,000 either.

Your ob should fight this for you - they can code it that it is medically necessary and move on. Also, the lab who did it, won't charge CASH patients that amount, so you could call them and ask for the cash rate.

Thanks for talking me down from the ledge while I wait for my dr office to call me back. I haven't actually received the bill from the lab yet. I think I was just freaking out since I was told that the test would cost me about $200...and the number the insurance company is saying I owe was $8,000. I've just never had any procedures denied by the insurance company before.

DD (2) actually requested to see santa at the mall this weekend so we did that, and then grocery shopped for thanksgiving. I'm hosting this year (just our parents, my grandparents, my aunt, and my cousin) and they all feel bad "for making me host while pregnant" so everyone split up all the cooking. I'm basically in charge of rolls and mashed potatoes😂 Cheapest thanksgiving shopping trip ever🙌🏻

auri Don't panic! I've had several, several friends have to pay for the NIPT out of pocket directly to the lab and I think all of them have paid about $100-200.

Good morning! I'm waiting for DS to finish up with speech therapy and then we're heading to Trader Joe's. I'm a little terrified of a grocery store the week of Thanksgiving, but hopefully the sample counter will get us through.

Good morning. Both Mh and I only have 2.5 days of work this week. I'm so looking forward to delicious food and the long weekend.
I had a dream last night that the lab called and said the test showed that the baby was a boy not a girl. So of course I spiraled on what else they got wrong/missed with the ultrasound. Ugh. I'll be so relieved once we get the results.

Ok, I'm done panicking. Dr office called me back and said that it's common for insurance companies to deny the genetic testing. Just call the lab when I get my bill and they will write it off and my cost should be about $200.

auri, I'm glad you got that figured out and can stop panicking. I am so tired. I almost fell asleep at my desk a few minutes ago. I am now watching a webinar the rest of my work day. I really hope I can keep my eyes open.

So yesterday MIL asked MH what I want for Christmas. I had told him if anyone asks I want gift cards to my favorite spa for prenatal massages. He told her that but I guess she asked if she could get the stroller for the baby instead. So now that is what I am getting while Mh is getting a $300 gaming system.
I'm irrationally annoyed about this. I'm grateful that she wants to get it for us I just hate that something for the baby is considered my gift just because I'm the mom. And that is the only big thing we need for this baby since we have everything from DD1 and are more than capable of getting it on our own.

I hate that women are the practical ones. I always tend to want household items as gifts...

When I think of what I want for Christmas, a lot of it tends to be household things and then I have to remind myself that I also want new shoes. Now I know how my mom felt when she got vacuums and pots/pans for Christmas all the time.

cp3 I'd be so pissed too. We asked both parents for baby stuff but I made sure it was clear it was a joint gift. There's no reason it should only be yours, unless he's going to buy his own!

I want to say I'd be annoyed, but honestly if my mil gave me that I would probably be happy that I got something I would keep. But, my mil is a pretty bad gift giver. Last year she gave everyone pottery that she had to make for school projects. I got a non functional coffee mug and she gave my 3 year old what she called a plate to keep chewed gum (????) but it really looked like an ash tray.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate it and it's something we need it's just annoying that Mh gets something like that and I get the practical baby gift.

I think a lot of my annoyance is that the majority of my gifts and big splurges are stuff for the house or things for DD. Meanwhile Mh gets fun things. I hardly get stuff just for me. Part of it is on me because I feel guilty spending money on myself when we need other things. But now I asked for something just for me and I still get the practical gift that's for my kid.

I misread that she asked what you wanted and is getting you something else. Yea, I'd be annoyed too.
